Bleacher Report’s Todd Seyler:

UFC 132 will take place on Saturday, July 2 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.  The main event will feature the first UFC bantamweight title fight ever as Dominick Cruz defends his title against the only feature to ever defeat him, Urijah Faber.

The co-main event will feature the long awaited return of Wanderlei Silva, who is set to face Chris Leben.  Also appearing on the main card will be Tito Ortiz who will be fighting for his UFC career when he faces Ryan Bader.

Donny “Eagle Eye” Walker is a Muay-Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner debuting within the UFC bantamweight division this Saturday at UFC 132.

Training out of the Griffin Rawl MMA Academy in Madison, Ohio, Walker has amassed an impressive 15-6 professional MMA record.

Securing four knockout and eight submission victories, “Eagle Eye” is continuing to develop in all facets of the fight game.

Competing against top talent including Jeff Curran and Cub Swanson prior to stepping foot inside the famed Octagon, Walker has exceptional experience inside the cage for a UFC newcomer.

Challenging Jeff Hougland on July 2nd, Walker will begin his journey into the deep UFC bantamweight division with his eyes on the championship.

UFC 132 Results: What’s next for Dominick Cruz with a Loss?

Bleacher Report’s Andrew Barr:

UFC 132 will take place on Saturday, July 2 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.  The main event will feature the first UFC bantamweight title fight ever as Dominick Cruz defends his title against the only feature to ever defeat him, Urijah Faber.

The co-main event will feature the long awaited return of Wanderlei Silva, who is set to face Chris Leben.  Also appearing on the main card will be Tito Ortiz who will be fighting for his UFC career when he faces Ryan Bader.

Dominick Cruz will defend his bantamweight championship for the first time in the UFC this Saturday.

His opponent will be the only man to ever defeat him, Urijah Faber.

This is a very highly anticipated match up and serious contender for Fight of the Night. That’s saying a lot, given that the card also features a bout between Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben.

Cruz’ first performance against Urijah was a disappointing one because Dominick was winning the fight standing and then decided to go for a takedown and that’s where he got himself into trouble. Shortly after Dominick went for the takedown, Faber caught him with a guillotine choke and ended the fight.

Now that Cruz has a better idea of what strategy he should be using against Urijah, he will be looking to redeem himself and retain his belt.

However, if Dominick Cruz once again fails to defeat Urijah Faber, what’s next for him?

A third match with Joseph Benavidez is a possibility, if Joseph beats Eddie Wineland in August.

Dominick and Joseph have fought twice before and their most recent bout went to a split decision, with Cruz walking away the victor. A third fight might give fans a more decisive answer as to who the better fighter is.

If Benavidez loses to Wineland, then a match up between Wineland and Cruz is also highly possible.

Match ups against Brian Bowles and Demetrious Johnson would also make sense. Both are elite fighters and victories against them would be a big help in getting Dominick back in the title hunt.

UFC 132 Results: Bleacher Report Predictions for Dominick Cruz vs Urijah Faber

John: It is rare that fight fans get excited for a bantamweight fight, but this is certainly an exception. Even most casual fans know about Faber and Cruz, and this promises to be an exciting match up.

Faber handed Cruz his sole loss amidst a 17-1 professional career back in 2007. Cruz maintains that Faber got lucky, and that he is a much better fighter now. For what it’s worth, also consider that their first meeitng was at featherweight.

That is fairly significant since this is Faber’s bantamweight debut. Some fans have questioned if Cruz will perform well at 135, since he already looked to be in tremendous shape at 145.

I don’t forsee this being the issue, as I don’t think Faber is the type of guy to make a weight cut he couldn’t handle. Faber is an awesome grappler who knows how to finish, while Cruz is more of a grinding wrestler with some slick hands when he chooses to use them.

Given that more of half of Faber’s 25 wins have come by submission (13), I think his submission prowess will still be the difference, four years later.

(Faber via fourth round submission)

Dale: You can tell by their respective demeanors and their pre-fight trash talk that Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber will likely be the ones to top Silva-Leben, and for good reason:

They both do not like each other…at all.

Breaking the fight down, Faber’s wrestling and submission game is going up against the striking of Cruz, although Cruz is expecting this second fight with Faber to turn out similarly to his fights with Joseph Benavidez.

That could be a mistake, especially considering how different Benavidez and Faber are from a stylistic point, but if Dominick has been rolling around with black belts ever since the first loss, and I suspect he has, this fight will play out more like his last fight with Scott Jorgensen, although less decisively as the Jorgensen win.

Faber will come close, but he will not walk out the victor or the new champion, but mark my word, he will have pleaded a strong case for the win.

At the end of the day, however, Cruz will even the score, and although the beef might be squashed, the rivalry will not end with the champ retaining his crown.

There will be a third, and after Saturday, we’ll all be calling for it.

Cruz def. Faber by Unanimous Decision (49-46 x2, 50-45)

Sean: The grudge between Cruz and Faber will finally be settled on Saturday, as the two will meet in Cruz’s first ever defense of the UFC Bantamweight Championship.

In their first meeting, Faber earned a submission win with a one-armed guillotine choke. It won’t come nearly as easily this time, but Faber should be able to defeat Cruz with his superior ground game once again.

Cruz has vastly improved since the last time he fought Faber, but “The California Kid” will also be his biggest test since the last time he fought “The California Kid.”Faber has had an outstanding career to this point, but he will take it one step further by cementing his legacy with his first UFC championship.

(Faber defeats Cruz by unanimous decision)

Dwight: Dominick Cruz is the newly crowned king of the bantamweight division and he is motivated by revenge for his only loss in his career. Urijah Faber is the previous king of the bantamweight and featherweight divisions of mixed martial arts, and he is trying to hold his elite fighter status for just a little while longer.

Faber is an extremely popular fighter and will have many opportunities in this sport post fight career, but I believe he needs this win to stay relevant for a title in the division he has decided to make his home. His fight with Jose Aldo showed that his days as the featherweight champ could surely be over. Faber will need his whole arsenal of wrestling and submissions to pull off a win.

Cruz is an extremely dedicated fighter, who is just coming into his prime in mixed martial arts, and he will be looking to mix his awesome footwork and boxing, as well as his solid take down defense to keep this in his world. He got caught quickly last fight by Faber’s famed guillotine choke, but he is a much more prepared fighter this time around.

(Cruz by fourth round TKO)

Clearly the main event between Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz is the fight that has everyone talking, but it is unlikely to be the fight of the night. The bad blood is there, but the fight doesn’t present the same draw as the fight between Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben.

Waching technicians display their mastery can be entertaining, but a bloodbath like the one we are likely to see between Silva and Leben is must-see TV.

The two both have knockout power and aren’t afraid to stand toe to toe with their opponent. It could result in Silva and Leben exchanging punches.

Assuming this one doesn’t result in an early knockout, it’s going to make for a heck of a fight. Even if it does result in a knockout, it’s not going to disappoint.

As long as neither fighter strays from their game plan by trying to take this one to the ground, this one will likely be the fight of the night.

Leben should try and beat Silva at his own game, while Silva will be undoubtedly trying to prove that he still has it.

The fight card isn’t exactly packed with fights that will transpire in this fashion. Silva Vs. Leben is sure to be non-stop action and excitement throughout.

This middleweight battle will either end with a big knockout or as the top fight. What more could you ask for?

We are seeing far too few of fights like this. Heavy-handed fighters avoiding the ground isn’t just for boxing. UFC could use more fighters like these two.

This one could come down to who has the stronger chin, which is Leben. Then again, Silva may have the internal drive that veteran fighters tend to have on their way out.

One of these fighters could get in trouble early on. It will likely come down to one huge blow or a lethal combination that sends a fighter to the mat.

Many people are excited about the main event, but to miss out on this middleweight fight would be missing out on the most enticing fight of the night.

The Axe Murderer vs. the Crippler, who will survive?

UFC 132 Fight Card Takes a Look at First Ever 135-Pound Main Event Fight in UFC

Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber will meet in the square off in a bantamweight fight in the main event of UFC 132.

The fight is expected to be very intense as both fighters don’t seem to like the other one.  They appear ready to dual and have been very vocal about their hatred for one another.

According to an interview with Yahoo Sports, Cruz says the rivalry began back at WEC 26, four years ago when Faber had the following to say to Cruz after he choked him out in the first round,

I went up to him and I said, Good fight. That was it. I said, Good fight, buddy.

I don’t think I was rubbing it in. I was just kind of like, Good fight. Try again, buddy. But he knows what I meant. He was right.

The rift between the two got even more heated when Cruz began to sign his name over Faber’s face at autograph signings.  Apparently Faber was not too fond of Cruz doing that to his pictures.

Faber went on to accuse Cruz of jealousy after Cruz won the bantamweight title, but Cruz denies that,

“But jealously? That’s just his big head talking again. It’s more along the lines of, ‘I’ve been a champion for a while now, and right after I win the title, it’s questions about losing to Urijah Faber, and not questions about how well I did winning my title.’ I’m ready for those questions to stop, and I’m ready to prove I’m the champion on Saturday night.”

Saturday night is upon us and Cruz now has the chance to prove that he is a champion, or he could lose his title when Faber defeats him.

There is no doubt this match will be a grudge match and it should be incredibly entertaining.
