DETROIT — After dropping a decision loss to Matt Hamill, a result that pushed his winless streak to five straight fights, it seemed that Tito Ortiz‘s days in the UFC were over. UFC president Dana White even hinted at cutting Ortiz at the press conference just hours after the MMA legend and UFC building block lost to Matt Hamill.

Suddenly and without warning, though, White reversed course, confirming that Ortiz would get another match in the UFC.

On Wednesday, White explained his decision-making process, but he warned, it’d be the Huntington Beach Bad Boy’s last shot to keep his UFC career alive.

One of my weekly MMA must-reads is the "Sunday Morning Rumor Mill" column on MiddleEasy, which features a bunch of juicy stories that just might be true. In homage to our pals, we’d like to start a similar feature on CagePotato — except ours will work a little differently. Of the eight items you see below, seven have been pulled directly out of our asses. The other one is absolutely, positively, 100% true, and has been confirmed by inside sources. Which one is it? We’d rather not say, due to legal reasons. You’ll have to figure it out yourself…

– Vinicius Quieroz wasn’t the only fighter who was caught by the UFC’s independent drug-testing at UFC 120. There was a second guy who pissed hot for the same steroid, but the company decided to let him off with a private (but very stern) warning. Hint: Main card, but not main event.

Arianny Celeste has been dating a former UFC fighter for the past year, but has kept the relationship hidden from the public, in order to protect the fantasy that she’s "available" to her fans. We can’t reveal her boyfriend’s name, but his initials are Tiki Ghosn.

Dana White: WEC, UFC to Merge in 2011

World Extreme Cagefighting is merging with its sister organization the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In the video interview below, Dana White exclusively confirmed that the merger will take place in January 2011. In addition, White said that four UFC events will air live on Versus in 2011.

The final two WEC cards will air on the cable network on Nov. 11 and Dec. 16, which means that starting next year, the UFC will absorb WEC’s 135, 145 and 155 weight classes.

White explained the timing of the decision and what this means for all parties involved. He also provided updates on what’s next for Brock Lesnar and Tito Ortiz, as well as his take on the Undertaker-Lesnar exchange following UFC 121.

Brock Lesnar was the loser in a relatively one-sided beatdown at UFC 121, but he was the biggest winner in the financial department, pocketing a $400,000 purse for his main event bout with Cain Velasquez, the California state athletic commission confirmed to MMA Fighting.

Lesnar, arguably the biggest draw in MMA, will likely earn millions more in pay-per-view money based upon the final number of buys, but the $400,000 purse represents the guaranteed amount reported to the commission under his contract.

In capturing the title from Lesnar, Velasquez made a $100,000 base salary to go with a $100,000 win bonus.

All UFC 121 fighter purse and medical suspension is below.
