Former UFC champion Tito Ortiz’s house was burglarized and had a safe stolen, according to Huntington Beach police.

On Friday, Ortiz was away from his house when the unidentified perpetrators gained access by breaking a window on the residence’s balcony. Police say the house was “ransacked” when they responded to the scene.

A few of Ortiz’s neighbors are having their surveillance cameras reviewed in hopes of catching the alleged robbers.

“Welcome to Biden’s America,” Ortiz said in a statement to TMZ. “Beware, it’s going to get worse.”

Ortiz returned to combat sports last September against Anderson Silva in a boxing match, losing via first-round knockout. He hasn’t fought since but called out Logan Paul in a social media post following the defeat.

Ortiz is regarded by many as one of the greatest light heavyweights in UFC history. He won the light heavyweight title at UFC 25 against Wanderlei Silva before picking up wins over the likes of Ken Shamrock, Forrest Griffin, Patrick Cote, and Vitor Belfort.

Ortiz has teased a return to MMA by the end of the year, but nothing is reportedly in the works or has materialized to date.

The investigation into the alleged robbery of Ortiz’s home is ongoing.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz has revealed his favorite fighter to watch compete today.

Ortiz was recently interviewed by Helen Yee and asked about his favorite fighter to watch compete in mixed martial arts (MMA) right now. “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” named top-ranked lightweight Michael Chandler as his pick.

“One of my favorite ones to watch right now? I’d have to say Michael Chandler,” Ortiz said. “The turnaround he’s done in his career has just been amazing.

“It shows that hard work really does pay off. The knockout he did against Tony, I was just like, ‘Wow, Ferguson’s never been knocked out like that.’

“But he got caught with a good straight up-kick, and it kinda scared me. Everyone’s cheering and screaming, I stood up and was like, ‘Oh my God, is he okay?’ He was out for a minute… That’s scary.”

Chandler is certainly a great pick. “Iron” is currently riding high off one of the greatest knockout victories in the history of the UFC. He knocked out Tony Ferguson in the second round of their UFC 274 pay-per-view (PPV) match up.

A front kick to the face nailed Ferguson perfectly, rendering him unconscious for the first time in his career. Chandler, a relative UFC newcomer and already former lightweight title challenger, ended a two-fight losing skid with the win.

As for Ortiz himself, he’s gearing up for a promised MMA return before the end of the year. Ortiz teased he’s already in talks with an unnamed promotion about his comeback fight, but no opponent has been named as of this writing.

Ortiz has also competed under Bellator MMA and Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions.

Tito Ortiz’s Political Career Ended Less Than Six Months After It Began

In 2020, Ortiz ran for a city council seat in Huntington Beach. He was elected to one of the open seats and was sworn in as Mayor Pro Tempore of Huntington Beach. Less than 6 months later Ortiz would resign from the position after his controversial stance on the COVID-19 pandemic did not align with the state of California’s actions towards limiting the impact of the pandemic.

Tito Ortiz is ready to call it a career in combat sports and intends on retiring under the bright lights of the UFC.

Ortiz, 47, has stayed fairly active in combat sports since his exit from the UFC 10 years ago. Under the Bellator banner, Ortiz won three out of four bouts before moving onto a short political career that was marred in controversy.

Now the ‘Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ is ready for one more fight and wants to do it in the Octagon with fellow former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

“It’s never over and I think I made that mistake with the UFC when I said I’ll never fight for the UFC ever again,” Ortiz said while speaking to Helen Yee Sports. “And now that I think about it, that’ll be an amazing last fight for myself and for Shogun Rua.

“Shogun has his last fight with the UFC, we’re in kind of the same era, so it would be nice to see a Tito Ortiz vs. Shogun. I would like that.”

Tito Ortiz Believes ‘Shogun’ is The Perfect Opponent For His Retirement

Despite both being signed by the promotion from 2007 to 2012, Ortiz and Rua never crossed paths. Now with ‘Shogun’ on the final fight of his UFC contract and facing retirement himself, Ortiz believes it’s the perfect opportunity to book a contest between the two icons.

“I have a lot of respect for Shogun, I think he’s an amazing former champion, an amazing fighter,” said Ortiz. “I watched his last fight. I thought he won the fight, but they ended up giving it to OSP. Let’s see what happens in the future.”

‘Shogun’ has dropped his last two contests. Most recently he was on the losing end of a close split decision to Ovince St. Preux at UFC 274.

On the flip side, Ortiz has won his last three mixed martial arts bouts. In 2018, Ortiz defeated his UFC rival Chuck Liddell in a trilogy bout under the Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions label. Ortiz followed that up with a first-round submission over Alberto Rodriguez, better known to WWE fans as Alberto Del Rio.
