Brad Tavares had no answer for Israel Adesanya.

Adesanya finally had the chance to showcase just how good he is. It was sink or swim for “The Last Stylebender,” who received his first UFC main event and a top-10 middleweight. Adesanya passed with flying colors.

Adesanya wasted little time going high with a kick. Tavares closed the distance and moved in for the clinch. Adesanya got out of the clinch. A leg kick was there for Adesanya. A right hand was there for Tavares. Adesanya landed a leg kick followed by a kick to the body. There was a clear speed advantage for Adesanya. Tavares shot in on a single leg, but Adesanya avoided the takedown. Adesanya rolled for a leg lock near the end of the round.

Adesanya landed a couple of leg kicks early in the second round. He went for a wheel kick. Tavaeres shot in deep and drove Adesanya against the fence. “The Last Stylebender” reversed the position and returned to the center of the Octagon. Tavares was struggling to close the distance. He was able to get a right hand in. Referee Herb Dean warned Adesanya of sticking his fingers out. A kick from Adesanya rocked Tavares.

The third round was underway and Adesanya looked to pic up where he left off. Tavares started to connect with the jab. A knee to the chin was there for Adesanya. Adesanya tripped his opponent down. Another knee landed for Adesanya followed by a body kick. Tavares had another takedown attempt stuffed. Adesanya landed an elbow off the clinch break. A big left hand buckled Tavares. Adesanya got in an uppercut. A head kick landed for Adesanya near the end of the round.

Right away in the fourth round, Adesanya connected with a combination. Tavares shot in and he was finally able to take his opponent down. Adesanya locked in a triangle, but couldn’t hold it. Tavares took the back of Adesanya, but he was too close to the fence. Adesnaya got back up and used a kimura to get his opponent on the ground. The fight stood back up and Adesanya had Tavares’ nose leaking blood. Herb Dean called time for the doctor to look at a cut above the eye of Tavares. It was from a short elbow. Time resumed and Adesanya continued to look as fresh as he did in round one. Adesanya landed a knee to the body.

The final round was underway and Tavares couldn’t get a takedown. Adesanya stuffed another takedown atteempt and ended up in top control. Tavares went for a kneebar, but there was nothing there. Adesanya passed guard, but let his opponent back up. “The Last Stylebender” landed a knee upstairs. The final horn sounded, this was a clinic.

Final Result: Israel Adesanya def. Brad Tavares via unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45)

Brad Katona was too much for Jay Cucciniello.

In a bout that would determine the season 27 featherweight winner of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Katona and Cucciniello went head-to-head. In the end it was Katona who walked away with the trophy.

Katona went for the outside leg kicks early. Cucciniello went for a knee. Cucciniello accidentally landed a low blow, but Katona insisted he was fine and time wasn’t called. Cucciniello kept moving forward. A straight right landed for Katona. Cucciniello was dropped by a left hand. The round ended with both men standing.

The second round was underway and Katona landed a leg kick. Katona knocked down Cucciniello with another left hand. Katona scored a takedown.  Katona maintained top control throughout the round.

Katona fired out the gate in the final frame with leg kicks.  Cucciniello would find his back on the mat once again. Katona maintained top control. He took the back of his opponent. He rained down punches and flattened out Cucciniello. He was relentless with the punches, but Cucciniello kept trying to survive.  The fight went the distance and the decision was clear.

Final Result: Brad Katona def. Jay Cucciniello via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26)

It’s once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday July 6, 2018) will come from in the form of TUF 27 Finale. Headlining the card are Brad Tavares and Israel Adesanya, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the preliminary section of the card.

Montana De La Rosa vs. Rachael Ostovich in a women’s flyweight closes the preliminary card on FOX Sports 1.

Luis Pena vs. Richie Smullen is next in a lightweight bout.

John Gunther vs. Allan Zuniga is next in a lightweight bout.

Tyler Diamond vs. Bryce Mitchell in a featherweight bout opens the FOX Sports 1 preliminary bouts.

Matt Bessette vs. Steven Peterson in a featherweight bout finishes off the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card.

Opening the UFC Fight Pass prelims is Gerald Meerschaert vs. Oskar Piechota in a middleweight bout. In round 1, Piechota clinching and Meerschaert turns him to the fence but gets tripped to the mat. Piechota right into mount. Piechota cuts to side control and does well to lock up the d’arce as Meerschaert turtles up. Piechota into mount now and he’s hunting for the arm triangle. Piechota doing really well to follow Meerschaert every time he scrambles. Gives just enough space to keep from getting rolled, and then jumps right back into an offensive position. They’re stood up. Huge counter hook lands for Piechota. He’s at his best off his back foot on the feet. Counter left hook as Meerschaert steps in and it dropped him. Piechota on his back under the chin, looking to sink the choke, but Meerschaert shucked the hooks and forced him to give it up. In round 2, Piechota’s going to the lead hook too often Meerschaert has been blocking it and stepping in with his own strikes. Huge leg kicks from Piechota cut him down though. Nice headkick from Meerschaert. He’s holding his own after a really bad first round. Went for a sacrifice throw, and ended up on top after a prolonged scramble. Piechota made a mistake jumping on the guillotine. Piechota definitely looking tired. Big opening for Meerschaert if he can keep pressure on. Meerschaert jumping on the anaconda. That was close. Piechota fought it off, but Meerschaert is all over him landing hard shots as he tries to stand. Piechota getting pieced up. eating big knees. Looking for a chance to counter, but he’s nearly out on his feet. Meerschaert staying calm, going back to the knees. Piechota lands an uppercut, but he’s exhausted, and Meerschaert pulls him to the canvas again to land ground and pound from ride. Meerschaert landing elbows and solid hooks from the back. He’s on the rear-naked choke and it looks really deep. Piechota goes out cold.

TUF 27 Finale Weigh-In Results: Main Event Set

Fighters have hit the scales to officially weigh-in.

TUF 27 Finale (Also known as The Ultimate Fighter Finale) is set to take place on Friday, July 6, 2018, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will be split broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass at 7 p.m. ET.

Brad Tavares vs. Israel Adesanya in a middleweight bout will headline this show while oe Giannetti vs. Mike Trizano in the TUF 27 Lightweight Tournament Final will serve as the co-main event.

Rounding out the six bout main card is Jay Cucciniello vs. Brad Katona in a TUF 27 Featherweight Tournament Final, Martin Bravo vs. Alex Caceres in a featherweight bout, Barb Honchak vs. Roxanne Modafferi in a women’s flyweight bout, and Alessio Di Chirico vs. Julian Marquez in a middleweight bout.
