Tyron Woodley sends warning to longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan for his comments about UFC welterweight fighter CM Punk.

Punk lost in his MMA debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in September of 2016 by first round submission. Despite not having a ton of experience, White gave the former WWE champion another shot at fighting inside of the Octagon.

His latest fight came in the opening bout of the main card for the UFC 225 pay-per-view event at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Fellow welterweight Mike Jackson was able to beat Punk, real name Phil Brooks, by unanimous decision.

Now after two straight losses, Punk is not likely to fight again under the UFC banner. However, this hasn’t stopped fight fans to thinking that Punk will fight again. Whether this is inside of the Octagon or another promotion.

During a recent podcast, Rogan stated that he thinks YouTube personality Logan Paul is a better fighter than Punk. He was quoted by stating, “Like, you had f*cking CM Punk fight. This guy (Logan Paul) is way better than him.”

Well, the UFC welterweight champion didn’t let these comments go unnoticed. It should be noted that Woodley and Punk are training partners under MMA coach, Duke Roufus. Thus, he defended Punk as well as gave a warning to Rogan.

“Watch your mouth Joe. First thing I have to stand on Joe Rogan’s stones. Come up off my homie CM Punk,” Woodley stated on during his most recent episode of The Hollywood Beatdown. “You got smoke with him, you got smoke with me. So, watch your mouth.”

Tyron Woodley believes his teammate and longtime friend Ben Askren would have no trouble handling Khabib Nurmagomedov and Georges St-Pierre. It’s all but confirmed that Askren will be making his way to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) thanks to a trade. Tyron Woodley Thinks Khabib & GSP Wouldn’t Stand Chance Against Ben Askren

Tyron Woodley believes Ben Askren could beat both of these fighters. Do you agree with him?

Tyron Woodley thinks so highly of Ben Askren that he thinks he could beat two top names. Those stars are former two-division champ Georges St-Pierre and UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov. This is of course if he signs with the UFC, which is looking likely to happen.

The trade between ONE and the UFC would allow the former Bellator MMA and ONE welterweight champion to be freed from his contract with ONE. In exchange, former flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson would be allowed to sign with ONE. Both sides see this as a win.

Regarding the UFC welterweight champion, he spoke with fans on Instagram where he sent a warning to Khabib and GSP. According to Woodley, he thinks Khabib has never fought someone like Askren.

“Khabib is a ‘G’ but Khabib ain’t never fought nobody like Ben,” Woodley said (H/T to Bloody Elbow). “He never fought anybody like Ben, he ain’t never fought nobody like Michael Chandler.”

Woodley continued by stating that fighters like Askren and Chandler would wreck life on the UFC champ.

“Those guys would wreck him on life. Chandler’s intensity is more, his striking is better. Ben doesn’t have the same intensity but his style is not one of intensity.”

Woodley’s Continued Praise

He is very high on Askren for obvious reasons and pointed out his constant pressure when wrestling with his opponents.

“His style is one of scrambling, one of static strength, one of consistency, pressure, and ground and pound is ridiculous, jiu-jitsu is ridiculous, wrestling is ridiculous.”

Woodley also praised his ability to put himself in positions to be successful like no other fighters he’s seen.

“His ability to get in close and put himself into positions where he’s going to be successful is bar none some of the best I’ve ever seen.”

Woodley, who trains with Askren with Duke Roufus in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, also spoke about a fight with GSP.

“GSP would never stand a chance against Ben,” Woodley said. “Ben thrives against guys’ offensive onslaughts and GSP’s whole thing was always timing.”

The UFC champion stated that Askren’s grappling skills are just on another level compared to other fighters.

“If you ever see some video a long time ago, Ben Askren grappling against Jake Shields and I’m going to tell you this one thing — the highlights of the video were not on that video. Ben is just on a different level.”

With the news of Ben Askren possibly headed to the UFC in a historic trade that would send Demetrious Johnson to ONE Championship, opponents are lining up to welcome ‘Funky’ the Octagon.

If Askren does indeed land on the UFC roster, and by all accounts, it looks that way. The matchmaking possibilities are wide-ranging. One thing we do know for sure, however, Askren will not be fighting his college wrestling teammate and good friend, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Instead, it appears ‘Funky’ is taking aim at interim champ Colby Covington. (Courtesy of Twitter)

Askren didn’t stop there; he then proceeded to call out Khabib Nurmagomedov. A match-up between Askren and Khabib is one of a hand full of dream matches that now seems not only possible but likely.

Askren is unbeaten in 18 professional fights; he has only faced adversity in a couple of those contests. It will be interesting to see what way the UFC matchmakers decide to go with Askren assuming he does land on the roster.

‘Funky’ did have one final message to the entire UFC:

Tyron Woodley details dealing with the recent hand injury that has put him on the shelf for the rest of this year.

The UFC gave the latest title shot to rising prospect Darren Till. This led to Woodley getting a dominant win over Till at UFC 228 pay-per-view event last month. This comes after it was revealed that the UFC welterweight champion decided to undergo surgery for a hand injury.

Tyron Woodley Details

During the latest episode of TMZ Sports’ Hollywood Beatdown, Woodley spoke about the injury from a doctor’s office in Pensacola, Florida.

“It’s the CMC joint, I dislocated my thumb in the [Darren Till] fight. I did it in the first round and then I actually tore ligaments there. At the end of the first round I punched and hit the back of his head. And then the second round, I started elbowing and punching and then I got on top and the coach was like ‘Hook punch him!’ So I started doing what we call the hook punch and my hand started hurting.”

What He Had To Do

Woodley continued by stating that at the end of the fight, he saw his thumb poking out and he decided to push it back in.

“I was like ‘Aw that doesn’t feel good, let me elbow this motherf**ker. So that’s what I started doing. And at the end of the fight I just saw my thumb just poking out. My natural reaction was to push it back down,” (via MMAMania.com). “I pushed it down, ooh, I’m like ‘I broke it. Wow this is crazy. I’m probably going to have to get pins, this is probably displaced.’ Then it popped up again, I pushed it back down, it made a noise like light bulbs cracking in my hand.”

Next Fight

Woodley is expected to make his next title defense as the welterweight champion against former interim champion Colby Covington. Now, this fight has been delayed once again and will likely go down in the first quarter of 2019.
