Tyron Woodley is hoping to face legendary pugilist Manny Pacquiao inside the squared circle later this year.
Following his release from the UFC in 2021, ‘The Chosen One’ has had a relatively quiet last few years — aside from losing back-to-back bouts against YouTube star turned boxer Jake Paul.
However, it sounds like Woodley may have something in the works. That is if the ‘PacMan’ stops dragging his feet and signs the damn deal.
At least, that’s the sentiment recently expressed by Woodley on social media. Seemingly out of nowhere, the former UFC welterweight champion called out Pacquaio, suggesting that the pair have been working to iron out the details for a potential clash inside the boxing ring.
“@mannypacquiao we been f*cking around with these numbers for two months,’ Woodley asked on Instagram. “Are we fighting or what? You acting like Floyd [Mayweather] and KSI! [Capitalizing] on Clout [facepalm emoji] SMH.”
Tyron Woodley is the latest in a slew of potential opponents for Manny Pacquiao’s return
Following a unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugás in August 2021, the former eight-division world champion retired from the sport in hopes of pursuing a political career in his home country. Since then, Pacquaio has announced his return to the ring, though no official announcements have been made regarding when or where his comeback will take place.
‘PacMan’ was linked to a superfight with Muay Thai icon Buakaw Banchamek last year, but that fight was officially canceled in February. A month before the cancellation, Pacquiao revealed at RIZIN’s New Year’s Eve event that he was in talks for a long-awaited rematch with Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.
Pacquiao has also been connected to a fight with the rising star Conor Benn after the two faced off in Saudi Arabia during the Francis Ngannou vs. Anthony Joshua weigh-ins.
Clearly, Manny Pacquiao has a lot of options for his return to the ring. It’s just a matter of time before we find out who holds the winning lottery ticket.

Tyron Woodley is calling bullsh*t on Sean Strickland’s claim that the UFC blocked him from accepting Jake Paul’s million-dollar sparring challenge.
After footage emerged online of the former middleweight champion pummeling popular Rumble streamer Sneako in an early morning sparring session ahead of Super Bowl Sunday, ‘The Problem Child’ issued a challenge to Strickland, offering him $1 million if he flies out to Puerto Rico for a session of their own.
“I’ll fly you to PR and we can fight on camera… if you win I’ll give you $1 million,” Paul wrote on X.
Strickland responded with a quasi-death threat online before claiming that Hunter Campbell — the UFC’s chief business officer — blocked him from accepting the offer.
However, ex-welterweight champ and two-time Jake Paul opponent Tyron Woodley is calling cap, claiming that the UFC can’t legally prevent Strickland from sparring with the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
‘’Why the f*ck you asked Hunter? You asked your daddy if you can fight,” Woodley said on YouTube. “You don’t have to ask nobody if you can fight. That just sounds like a hater move off the top. When you hear that … when you gotta smash somebody down before they give you the reason why they can’t fight, you already can hear it’s a hater move. Let me break some stuff down to you legally. Legally, they cannot stop him from sparring Jake Paul.”
“Jake Paul said he wanted to spar him the same way Sneako walked into the cage,” Woodley continued. “I want you to know [Sneako] had to walk through security, he had to be signed in on the list. I know that, that’s the APEX. They let him come in there. He can spar with anyone he wants to. Jake Paul didn’t say, come and meet me in f*cking arena or come and meet me in a sanctioned fight. He said come to my gym. Nobody can stop him from doing that” (h/t MMA Mania).
While it is true that the UFC can’t legally prevent Strickland from sparring with anyone willing to sign a waiver, the complication likely comes from the $1 million offer.

Tyron Woodley’s 2024 is off to a bad start and it’s only January 1.
On New Year’s Day, fight fans shared a variety of reactions after discovering that someone leaked a video of former the UFC welterweight world champion engaging in a sex act. Needless to say, MMA Twitter went absolutely off the rails and we’re here to share you with some of the more entertaining takes.
However, we will not be sharing the video itself or any links to it. After all, leaking videos of this nature is a crime unless explicitly approved by all parties involved. But if your curiosity does get the best of you, it’s not very hard to find. Chances are, you’ve already seen it regardless of whether or not you sought it out.
Tyron Woodley tried to bring GSP and Nick Diaz back into the fight game
After suffering four straight losses inside the Octagon, Tyron Woodley largely walked away from MMA to pursue other financial opportunities. Most notably, he competed in back-to-back boxing bouts against social media sensation Jake Paul. He lost the first meeting via a split decision but was left unconscious following a sixth-round knockout in their follow-up clash.
Woodley was recently in the news, claiming that he had offered Octagon icons Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz “a dumb bag” to make their return to MMA under his promotional company The Realest International Promotion, aka TRIP.
“I’m looking to fight guys that are legendary to me,” Woodley told TMZ, “that I feel like may not have gotten the respect and the money that they should have gotten when they were at the top of the top. Like Georges St-Pierre, I offered him a dumb bag. He said no. ‘I’m not in that world anymore.’ I offered Nick Diaz a dumb bag. When I say dumb, I mean pushing to eight figures, a lot of money. … They both said no.
“Sorry, Nick didn’t say no. Nick liked the comment, so I don’t know what that means. But people that I respect, people that I thought were GOATs, and now that the money is coming to the sport, I want to go to those people first to get them paid with me because it’s a partnership. Whether I like Jake (Paul) or not, I was a business partner with him for two fights. This is a business, you got a partner, it’s not choreographed” (h/t MMA Junkie).
Woodley has not competed since the December 2021 scrap with Jake Paul, but it’s nice to see that ‘The Chosen One’ is keeping himself busy elsewhere.

Former undisputed UFC welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley has made the claim that former middleweight title challenger, Nick Diaz rejected an offer with a payday approaching a staggering eight figures to fight him – for his newly-former promotion,The Realest International Promotion (TRIP).
Woodley, a former undisputed welterweight champion under the banner of the UFC, departed the promotion back in 2021, having suffered his fourth consecutive loss in the form of a D’Arce choke submission defeat to Vicente Luque at UFC 260.
The defeat followed prior conseutive losses to rivals, Colby Covington, and Gilbert Burns, with the St. Louis native dropping his undisputed welterweight crown to prior pound-for-pound number one, Kamaru Usman in a one-sided decision loss at UFC 235 in 2019.
Since then, Woodley has switched his focus to professional boxing, first dropping a close, decision loss to Ohio puncher, Jake Paul – before an impromptu rematch in December 2021 saw Woodley suffered a devastating sixth round one-punch KO loss to the social media star.
Tyron Woodley talks failed Nick Diaz clash
And attempting to launch his career into the spotlight once again, Woodley has founded his own organization, titled ‘TRIP’ – and claims to have seen offers resulting in “dumb bags” and paydays to both Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz rejected.
“I’m looking to fight guys that are legendary to me,” Tyron Woodley told TMZ. “That I feel like may not have gotten the respect and money that they should have gotten when they were at the top of the top. After playing a pivotal role in the early success of Jake Paul, former UFC champion Tyron Woodley feels like he’s being disrespected by the social media star.
After making a name for himself by fighting a series of past-their-prime MMA stars, ‘The Problem Child’ is hellbent on becoming more than another influencer hoping to make a few bucks in the sweet science. Recently, Paul revealed that he would be partnering with Team USA Boxing for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The announcement came a few days removed from his impressive first-round knockout against Andre August in Orlando.
However, Jake Paul’s dreams don’t solely rest inside the squared circle. Next year, he’s slated to make his highly anticipated mixed martial arts debut under the PFL banner. No official announcements have been made, but Paul has been aggressively approaching Nate Diaz with the hopes of goading the former UFC fan favorite into accepting a scrap inside the Smart Cage.
Speaking of Paul’s first foray into MMA, two-time ‘Problem Child’ challenger Tyron Woodley is feeling a bit disrespected by the fact that he is not being considered for the spot that Nate Diaz is being so desperately courted for.
“I think if you’re going to fight anybody in MMA, you fight me in MMA,” Woodley told TMZ. “I’m the one that did the numbers with you. I’m the one that had the crazy millions and millions of views in the press conference. I’m the one that was a five-time champion. I’m the one that took the fight on two weeks’ notice.
“I was [filming] Cobra Kai for 14 hours straight. I trained at 3 a.m. and I saved that card. That card was not going to happen. People would not have been buying Christmas gifts had I not stepped up to the plate. So to talk about fighting anybody in MMA outside of me is disrespect” (h/t MMA Fighting).
‘The Chosen One’ suffered a split decision loss to Jake Paul in August 2021 before accepting a short-notice opportunity to run it back four months later. The second time around, Woodley suffered a brutal knockout in the sixth round.
As a Former UFC Champion, Tyron Woodley Believes he is more deserving than nate diaz
Despite the back-to-back losses against Paul in the boxing ring, Woodley believes he is the most logical choice for a rematch in MMA given his history of collecting world championship wins. Something Diaz and other fighters vying for the spot have never accomplished.
“If you really, really want to prove that you can do it in my world, you fight the No. 1 guy in that world,” Woodley said. “Nate has never touched gold, never been close to gold ever. Either has [Derek] Brunson and I saw some other people barking. Everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon. You kind of sound like groupies. Everybody wants to fight Jake. Remember, I never asked to fight Jake. I was staying out the mix. I was cornering Ben Askren.
“They asked to fight me. Ben said ‘you should ask to fight Tyron.’ I wasn’t even focused on this kid. I wasn’t even thinking about boxing him and then the fight came to me. Even the second time around, they came to me and asked me to fill in because Tommy [Fury] couldn’t fight. I’m just the guy that stepped up and I stepped up in a major way.”
Tyron Woodley captured the welterweight title at UFC 201, besting ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler via a first-round KO. He went on to defend the title four times against Demian Maia, Darren Till, and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson on two separate occasions before surrendering the strap to Kamaru Usman, ending his nearly three-year-long reign.
“MMA wise, the fact that we’re not even speaking about me fighting him, especially with my affiliation with the PFL, it’s kind of disrespectful,” Woodley said.
Though Woodley is admittedly a little bitter over the PFL snub, ‘The Chosen One’ had nothing, but positive things to say about Jake Paul’s boxing career. He even served as part of the broadcast team on DAZN for Paul’s latest win.
“I thought he did a great job,” Woodley said about Paul’s performance. “I literally said, ‘Hey man, Andre better watch ducking his head because he’s going to get hit with an up, I couldn’t even say uppercut. I just got the U-P off and then he was sending him to the moon.”

UFC president Dana White has been revealed to be quite unsympathetic regarding fighters coming into bouts battling injuries and those injuries leading to a poor performance in the octagon.
Two former UFC champions in Rampage Jackson and Tyron Woodley testified on Jackson’s podcast that the boss man did not take too kindly to such an occurrence. Jackson told a story about his fight with Ryan Bader in Japan, and how he went into that fight with a partially torn meniscus.
He still wanted to fight, loss to Bader, and then was blasted by the UFC president who never mentioned anything about the injury Rampage Jackson was suffering from.
Rampage Jackson and Tyron Woodley detail Dana White’s stance on performance-impacting injuries
“I think I fell out with Dana when I lost to Ryan Bader in Japan,” Jackson began, speaking to Woodley on the JAXXON Podcast (H/T Fan Nation). “I got injured before that fight and I called Dana right away. I said ‘Man, I got a partial tear in my meniscus.’ He said ‘What are you gonna do?’ I said ‘S*** man, it’s Japan. I still wanna fight.’…So I went there and I fought, and I lost by decision. First thing Dana [does] in the press conference is like ‘I don’t know what’s going on with Rampage. I don’t think he has it, I don’t think he wants it anymore.’”
This understandably angered Jackson, and he soon departed for Bellator. Tyron Woodley also had a very similar story. He mentioned how he told Dana White about an injury as well, and the UFC president feigned ignorance on it after it led to a poor performance.
“The same way you feel right now, I had the – you’re still burning a little bit, right?” Woodley asked Jackson. “[Dana knew] good and well, I f***ing told [him]. But now you’re gonna sit here and – You know good and well I told you I tore my labrum against Demian Maia, and you just told everybody that nobody wants to watch me fight.”
What do you think about Jackson’s and Woodley’s stories about Dana White?
