Tyson Fury has announced he has an interest in competing in mixed martial arts (MMA), and ever since making that announcement, he has been challenged every which way from top UFC heavyweights.

Now, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has thrown his name in the hat. “JDS,” speaking to MMA Fighting, says he’d love to welcome the boxing lineal heavyweight champion to the world of MMA. After that, he’d gladly rematch the Englishman inside the boxing ring.

“Both. I’d do both,” dos Santos said. “It would be perfect to fight Tyson Fury in MMA, as he wishes, and then, with a win over him, fight him in boxing, in his world. He would come to my world and then I would go to his world. It would be the pinnacle, a great moment for both sports.”

Fury has been taking his claims of a potential career in MMA very seriously. He recently took part in a training session with fellow countryman and top-ranked UFC middleweight Darren Till. Till himself said he gives Fury a 70 percent chance of actually following through and fighting in MMA. As for dos Santos, he believes Fury will follow through on his word as well, but not for any more than one fight.

“I don’t think he comes (full time) to MMA, but I think he’ll fight once,” dos Santos said. “It would be very interesting. I see the UFC going that direction as well with Zuffa Boxing and Dana White being a huge boxing fan. We saw him meeting Floyd Mayweather again, and that’s extremely beneficial for all of us. It would be a great opportunity for me. I’ve always dreamed with the opportunity of fighting a great boxer. It’s my area, it’s where I feel most comfortable.”

Dos Santos believes Fury can present interesting matchups for fighters in MMA given his boxing skillset and reach. He also respects Fury for being willing to fight in MMA, as opposed to some other boxers who have been challenged, but ignore the callout.

“Tyson Fury is an excellent boxer, has really long arms and move well for a guy his size,” dos Santos said. “I think he can definitely make an interesting fight in MMA. I’ve challenged (Anthony) Joshua in the past, and so did (Stipe) Miocic, and he played like he wasn’t listening. They stay in a safer place acting like they are better than MMA fighters, but that’s not the truth. The truth is, we’re more complete fighters and we can give them a hard night, even in their own sport.”

What do you think about dos Santos’ call for an MMA and boxing fight with Fury?

Heavyweight legend George Foreman believes Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury II could be one of the greatest fights in boxing history.

The heavyweight duo fought to a controversial draw in December 2018 and are now set to fight again in February 2020.

Fury out-boxed Wilder for most of the fight and seemed on his way to a routine decision victory. However Wilder managed to drop his man in the 9th round. He then almost knocked Fury out cold in the 12th round. The Englishman somehow rose to his feet and looked unfazed. Both fighters made it to the final bell and it the fight went to the judges, who controversially scored the fight a split decision draw.

The first fight was one of the best of 2018 and the rematch now has the backing from an all-time great to be even better. Speaking to TMZ Sports George Foreman claimed Wilder vs. Fury II could be one of the best fights in boxing history. (H/T TMZ Sports)

“I think that Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury (2) would be one of the greatest fights of all time. Not just today, but of all time. If I see that fight, I would say that Deontay Wilder is moved up in status and whoever wins that fight will probably be one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.”

The heavyweight legend is right to expect an all-time great clash. Both fighters are at the peak of their powers and should provide fireworks in this eagerly anticipated rematch.

Whoever wins will be widely regarded as the top heavyweight in boxing. They will then look to unify the heavyweight titles with the winner of Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua II.

Who do you think wins the rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury?

The highly-anticipated rematch between WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has an official date — February 22.

According to ESPN, the rematch was signed months ago, but required both fighters to get past their respective opponents. Fury survived a huge cut near his eye to get past Otto Wallin in September while Wilder delivered an emphatic knockout on Luis Ortiz this past weekend.

As a result, the sequel is all but official with both sides confirming to ESPN that it will take place February 22 with the likely venue being the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“We’re going to have an announcement before Christmas, but the fight is happening Feb. 22. You can go to sleep on that,” Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said.

Arum added that the pay-per-view event will be a joint-venture between ESPN and Fox.

“It will all get worked out in early December as far as the site, but the 22nd is the date,” Wilder’s manager Shelley Finkel said. “The site is not 100 percent set, but I’m not concerned about getting the site done. We’ll meet about that and about when to make the official announcement, when to have a press conference. These are things that still need to get done.”

Wilder and Fury notably met for the first time in December last year. Despite Fury outboxing the American for majority of the 12 rounds, Wilder’s two knockdowns during the fight eventually led to a controversial split decision draw.

In February, they can finally settle things once and for all.

Who do you have in the rematch?

Boxing lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury wants to fight everybody. Fury has talked about fights with top UFC heavyweights in MMA, his rematch with Deontay Wilder and fights with other top boxing heavyweights, and now, a fight with Brock Lesnar.

Speaking on the “True Geordie” podcast, Fury said he’d “flatten” former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar – either in the WWE or a real fight. (H/T Bloody Elbow)

“Yeah, I fancy a fight with Brock, for sure,” Fury said. “I watched a few of his fights. (He’s) pretty handy, but I can flatten him. In a WWE match or in a proper fight, I can flatten Brock Lesnar in 30 seconds.”

It would certainly be interesting to see Fury take on Lesnar in any capacity. Should he truly venture into MMA, his boxing skillset will give him a fighting chance. Of course, he’ll have to go up against some well-seasoned grapplers such as Stipe Miocic, the current champion in the UFC heavyweight division.

Lesnar himself is also known for his wrestling ability, so any chance Fury would have against Lesnar – currently retired from MMA – would have to be with keeping the fight standing. Fury appears serious about a future run in MMA, as he recently held a training session with top UFC middleweight and fellow countryman Darren Till. Till himself believes there’s a 70 percent chance Fury actually fights inside the cage.

What do you think about a potential fight between Fury and Lesnar?
