With all the understandable UFC 129 hoopla surrounding what could be Randy “The Natural” Couture’s last fight ever (cue single tear), and of course the main event tilt between GSP and Jake Shields, this Saturday’s featherweight bout between champion Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick has gotten lost in the shuffle a little bit no? This may also have something to do with the fact that too many ‘UFC only’ fans have never seen Aldo fight, which could be a rant for another day.
If you have seen Aldo throw down, then you know that the guy is a serious, serious badass, who is one of the sport’s more entertaining finishers. As for Hominick? Well, he isn’t nicknamed “The Machine” because he moonlights as a mechanic; the guy has reedonkously good, technical stand-up, amazing conditioning, and has also been known to floor an opponent or two with his fists. In other words, their title fight will be an epic, striking war right? Not necessarily says Mr. Hominick. (Thanks to MMA Weekly for the quote).
“We’ve got to look at it, Jose’s a world champion in jiu-jitsu, so if we’re treating this like a kickboxing fight, we’re in the wrong sport. We’re ready everywhere,” Hominick commented…“Everybody’s talking about the stand-up just because that’s where we’ve won a lot of our fights. You wouldn’t be surprised to see either of us shooting for a takedown, and mixing it up. This is MMA and it’s for the world title. You have to be ready for everything.”
Yes, this is true, but either way we’re hoping to be out of our minds with excitement during the tilt. To bet on the bout, or any others at UFC 129, head here.

According to Randy Couture, his fight against Lyoto Machida at UFC 129 will be his last. After nearly 14 years in the cage and a couple failed attempts at walking away from the sport for good, the importance of this fight all depends on how you look at it.
I. Will he or won’t he? When Couture says that, win or lose, he’ll hang it up after this fight, it’s hard to take him at his word. Not to question “Captain America’s” credibility, but we’ve heard this song and dance before. His reasoning is perfectly sound. He can still compete at 47 years of age, but he’s also still healthy enough to enjoy the fruits of his labors and he’d like to keep it that way. That makes perfect sense. Then again, it’s not like that’s a new development in his life. Couture hasn’t needed the money for a while now. He’s been doing this because he loves it, and maybe – just maybe – because he’s addicted to the feeling he gets from standing in the cage on a Saturday night, listening to an arena full of people chant his name after he’s physically broken another human being. You can’t buy that kind of rush, but you might, if you’re not careful, go looking for it just a little too long.

The gaming sites seem to be very clear on who the likely winners will be in the UFC 129 Main Card. Lines show Jake Shields as a +325 underdog to Georges St. Pierre at -500. But GSP as the huge favorite has become predictable anytime GSP faces a new opponent. (*Note, you can find GSP at-425, if you’re itching to bet on him) Yet, if you think Shields has a real chance as many believe he does with his brand of ground game then finally GSP may be worth betting against.
The quick and technically masterful title-contender, Mark Hominick is also a large underdog in his hometown against Featherweight Champion, Jose Aldo. Hominick is shown to be a +350 to Aldo’s -500. Hominick has the homecourt advantage and is a kickboxer that will give Aldo difficulty. A huge payoff here if Hominick can take the title.
Lastly, we cannot look past our favorite legend, the man who says this is his last show, Randy Couture, coming in as a +280 dog to Lyoto Machida’s -350. Just knowing Couture at 47 is in peak physical condition, has demonstrated an assured attitude and is a man who has nothing to lose with all his weapons fully loaded, we say we gotta lay the dog money on him. If there’s a man to believe in, it’s Couture.

As UFC 129 gears up, we of course can’t help but look to our past and conjure fond memories of our favorite Canadian former Ring Girl. But we do realize we have to move on and low and behold we discovered this gem, straight from Toronto, Ontario, we bring you Erin Jade. Now, we’re not exactly sure what it is that Erin Jade does. We think she might have done some ring girling before because last year she won thisW-1 MMA and Jakt Apparel Ring Girl Contest. And we’ve also seen her spotted around with Dana White (see pic below) which in our book, makes her legit.
So in honor of our excitement for the UFC 129: Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields card, let’s all enjoy pictures of this hot Asian (bonus)/Canadian:
