After one of the wildest shows in the company’s history, UFC president Dana White was fielding questions about the main event of UFC 146 when the topic of Brock Lesnar came up.

The former heavyweight champion was in attendance at the show on Saturday, which led to speculation on why the star was there and what he had to say to company president Dana White.

While White wouldn’t expand on his discussions, he did acknowledge that he and the former champion had been talking and that a return to the Octagon isn’t out of the question.

If Brock wants it and the UFC will allow it, a return to MMA is a very likely scenario. In the meantime, all this free publicity is great for everyone.

How This Benefits Dana White and the UFC

With the mainstream popularity of Lesnar as a former UFC champion and a current WWE superstar, there are millions of reasons to get him back into the Octagon if they can.

There is no question that Lesnar is one of the biggest draws in MMA history, so even the possibility that he could return to the company and the rumors that will surround this incident will be enough to give the UFC another shot in the arm.

Fans watching the all-heavyweight card saw Lesnar and were immediately struck by the possibility that he could be there to study talent for a future fight. With White doing nothing to curtail these assumptions, many feel that a return to MMA is imminent.

How This Benefits WWE

While the UFC gains the hype around Lesnar’s name by having him at the show, the WWE gets to have their name written in every single article and said in every interview that has to do with Brock’s appearance at UFC 146.

The current WWE superstar will be the talk of the MMA world after his meeting with White and the admission by the company’s president that a return to the ring isn’t out of the question.

Lesnar is a current WWE star, but his contract’s details will show that he could fight again in the UFC fairly soon.

All of this talk about Lesnar will bring the WWE’s name to more lips and ears, which is more than they could have hoped for when he signed up for his part-time schedule.

How This Benefits Lesnar

Lesnar said it best during a promo on RAW; he isn’t just a man anymore, he is a brand.

With the possibility of a return to MMA, the intrigue that surrounds the star is enough to keep him culturally relevant for the next few years.

Even if Brock never fights again in UFC, the possibility that he could will drive people to endlessly speculate about what’s going to happen next.

Lesnar has been forgotten a bit since his “departure” from the WWE, but showing up in the front row of an all-heavyweight UFC card and having White outright admit the possibility of a return will get Brock’s name back in the news.

Bring on who’s next.

UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos capped off UFC 146 with an impressive TKO win over Frank Mir in a style that suggests taking the belt from the Brazilian brawler will be near impossible.

Dos Santos made mincemeat of former champ Cain Velasquez last November to earn the heavyweight title, and now looks poised to retain it for a long, long time.

The champ’s strong boxing arsenal proved too much to handle for Velasquez months back, and on Saturday night former heavyweight title-holder Frank Mir was simply no match.

Here are the rest of the results from UFC 146:

Junior dos Santos Defeats Frank Mir

Although it was a powerful right-hand shot from Dos Santos in the second round that forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight, the heavyweight champion’s first-round flurry may have sealed the deal.

Cain Velasquez Defeats Antonio Silva

Former UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez sent a brutal message to the rest of the division on Saturday night with a bloody TKO win over Antonio Silva. Velasquez dominated on the ground with his elbows and gloves.

Roy Nelson Defeats Dave Herman

Big Country needed no more than a minute to get his swagger back with a swing-for-the-fences KO of Dave Herman 51 seconds into the fight.

Stipe Miocic Defeats Shane del Rosario

In a battle of undefeated fighters, Stipe Miocic took advantage of second-round blood to put the finishing touches on Shane del Rosario.

Stefan Struve Defeats Lavar Johnson

Stefan Struve was able to put Lavar Johnson in a wicked armbar and submit him around one minute into the first round.

Darren Elkins Defeats Diego Brandao

Diego Brandao essentially ran out of gas late against Darren Elkins and dropped a close, well-fought match that ended via unanimous decision.

Jamie Varner Defeats Edson Barboza

Jamie Varner connected on a solid punch to the head of Edson Barboza, knocking him down and pouncing to earn an impressive TKO win.

C.B. Dollaway Defeats Jason Miller

C.B. Dollaway dictated the style of his fight against Jason Miller and worked him on the mat to take a unanimous decision win.

Dan Hardy Defeats Duane Ludwig

A brutal left hook to the chin of Duane Ludwig was all it took for Dan Hardy to earn a KO victory in the first round on Saturday night.

Mike Brown Defeats Daniel Pineda

Mike Brown overwhelmed Daniel Pineda on the ground with his strength and essentially grounded out a unanimous-decision victory.

Glover Teixeira Defeats Kyle Kingsbury

Hyped-up fighting talent Glover Teixeira dropped Kyle Kingsbury to the mat and ended the fight thanks to an arm triangle in the first round.

Paul Sass Defeats Jacob Volkmann

Paul Sass went to his go-to arm triangle in the first round and it worked flawlessly as he submitted Jacob Volkmann quickly.

UFC 146 Results: Dana White ‘Suck It Hardy Haters’

Despite a UFC title bout headlining the event and a whole mess of heavyweights looking to make a name for themselves on the main card, no one was under more pressure to win and deliver at this weekend’s UFC 146 event than Dan Hardy.

While the win was an emphatic statement for Hardy, it also validated UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta’s decision to keep “The Outlaw” around after Hardy was submitted by a retiring Chris Lytle last August, and UFC president Dana White was obviously in full support of that decision last night.

Going into his bout with Duane Ludwig, Hardy had lost his last four fights inside the Octagon, having gone winless since he failed to capture the UFC’s welterweight crown over two years ago at UFC 111, losing to Georges St-Pierre by unanimous decision.

Subsequent losses to Carlos Condit, Anthony Johnson and Lytle soon followed and fans were convinced that Hardy was no longer UFC material and would soon be on the unemployment line.

Instead, Fertitta decided to support Hardy and told the fans that the Nottingham, England native would not be getting cut by the UFC anytime soon and that he likes guys that “WAR.”

But for as much as he supposedly likes Hardy, Fertitta didn’t attempt to do him any favors in his next bout and Hardy was matched up against Ludwig, one of the few fighters in the welterweight division that seemed to have a clear striking edge over the talented kickboxer.

Once the fight actually started, Hardy looked comfortable quickly and started firing off combinations and closing the distance to work Ludwig off the cage.

This eventually lead to Ludwig getting a little too careless on the feet, and Hardy’s always dangerous lead left hand found it’s mark, left “Bang” unconscious on the mat and earned “The Outlaw” a knockout of the night bonus check.

Hardy still has a long road ahead of him if he ever wants to get back into title contendership, but last night he proved he still belongs in the same cage as the best fighters in the world, and it looks like he’ll have the UFC president’s full support as long as he keeps putting on exciting fights.

Junior dos Santos vs. Frank Mir: Cigano Proves Mir Can’t Compete for a Title

Junior dos Santos made relatively quick work of Frank Mir in UFC 146 to retain the UFC heavyweight championship and sealed the deal that Mir will never compete for a title again.

In the second round of their fight, dos Santos landed a straight right hand that leveled Mir and sent him rolling backwards. Mir attempted to get up, but fell back having clearly been rocked too hard to come back from.

Cigano dominated most of the fight and never gave Mir a chance to fight in his comfort zone. Instead, dos Santos kept it a boxing match and was simply too much for Mir as evidenced by the second-round finish.

Mir made a few attempts to take this fight to the ground, but all efforts were thwarted by the champ.

The former heavyweight champ has had some great matches throughout his career and many accomplishments to be proud of.

That being said, it doesn’t appear that there is much left in the tank for Mir.

Cigano is the class of the division and if Mir wants to return to glory, he’ll have to get through that caliber of fighter. However, Mir never stood a chance against dos Santos, further proving he is no longer on an elite level.

So, what’s next for Mir?

It’s doubtful he’ll be dropped off the face of the UFC earth. Mir still has value to the company as a legend, fan favorite and a top-notch measuring stick for new fighters coming into the company.

Although this will be the last you see of Mir in a truly meaningful fight, it won’t be the last you see of Mir for good.

WWE: Brock Lesnar Appears at UFC 146, ‘Possibly’ Returning to UFC, What’s Next?

The WWE universe might have been a bit shocked to see Brock Lesnar in the stands at UFC 146 on Saturday night in Las Vegas. It got many wondering, is Lesnar going to return to the UFC?

The presence of Lesnar at the event was enough to get reporters asking the question to UFC President Dana White after the event.

MMAWeekly.com reports that White was asked why Lesnar was at the fights, to which he responded, “I don’t know, apparently now he’s a big fan.”

“He was here; I think that says it all.” White was reportedly smiling while saying this.

The most intriguing part of the report came when a comeback was brought up to White,

When asked directly if Lesnar was contemplating a comeback to fighting, White admitted that he hadn’t talked with him about a return but answered ‘possibly, yeah’ when discussing a potential MMA rebirth for the one time heavyweight champion.

This situation might get very interesting, especially considering that White said that Lesnar had texted him to meet up and talk after the post-fight press conference on Saturday night.

Lesnar appeared at the event that showcased a number of fighters that he competed with while in the UFC. Might he have been there to simply watch the fights or scout them as a part of a comeback?

Is it possible that he returns to the UFC while still a part of the WWE?

It will be interesting to know if there was a clause in his contract with the WWE prohibiting from fighting in the UFC while still under contract with the WWE. It would create some incredible storylines, however.

Nevertheless, if Lesnar is contemplating a return, it would be extremely difficult to train and fulfill the obligations of both organizations. After his contract is up around WrestleMania, if he is not yet back in the UFC by then, Lesnar might be able to give a comeback a bit more thought.

It had to be tempting sitting in the crowd and seeing the heavyweight belt around the waist of someone else and not being able to do anything about it.

It seems as though there could certainly be a return happening in the future.

After all, Lesnar appears to have no problem leaving an organization and coming back for more.
