After all the analysis and build-up on fight week this week, my predictions for UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz are in.

The official weigh-ins for the event, which were held on Friday in Las Vegas (watch here) further deepened my belief that both champions will prevail on Saturday night.

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm looked sharp and ever-ready to retain her title against Meisha Tate. There will be no letdown for Holly in this contest. The big difference in my mind as it was with Ronda Rousey is Holm’s camp with Jackson/Winkeljohn based out of New Mexico. She has all the support from her team as well as the best training partners to push her while Tate’s camp is limited.

I am almost sure Meisha is not training with any UFC champions nor recieving input from the top coaches in all of MMA, certainly not on the level of Holm’s training partners and coaches. Holm will be ultra prepared with a rock solid game plan to go with her world class skills. That is a tough combination to top.

“Cupcake” Tate also seems to block punches with her face and this fight will be no different. She will struggle trying to drag “The Preacher’s Daughter” to the ground and will take massive punishment in the process. I am picking the champion by third-round (vicious) KO.

Conor McGregor (19-2) is set to fight Nate Diaz (18-10) at UFC 196 in a welterweight bout and recently spoke with CNBC about how much money that earns for fighting.

During the interview, McGregor was asked the reports of him making $10 million for fighting this weekend. McGregor claims that he will make way more than $10 million.

“I’m going to breeze past the $10 million mark,” McGregor said. “How much will Diaz make? “A lot more than anybody else,” the California fighter replied, to which McGregor jumped in, “He can thank me for that one. I’ve made more millionaires in this game than anybody else.”

McGregor was then asked if he had any stocks, which McGregor replied with this:

“I don’t, but I’m learning about that game,” McGregor said. “I will treat it like a discipline, like I have treated boxing or grappling or kickboxing and promotion, everything. The same with financial. I will study and grow and invest my money wisely.”

He will most likely have a chance to do just that, as McGregor revealed that he considers himself on even footing with his employers based on his magnetic drawing power. ‘The Notorious’ said he brings as much to the table as the UFC does:

“There should be Dana’s podium, my podium, and then there should be this little thing going on, so I feel that I am neck-in-neck. I bring a hell of a lot to the table. And that’s it; I have a great relationship, great business, but I am neck-in-neck and eye-to-eye in creating these great events.”

You can watch the interview here:

UFC 196 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, March 5, 2016. The main card airs on PPV at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT while the prelims air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m PT.

Nate Diaz Gets Better of Conor McGregor at Weigh-Ins by Making McGregor Flinch

The build to UFC 196 has been a crazy one but, for the most part, has seen Conor McGregor talk circles around Nate Diaz. In fact, if somebody were to tally who has come out on top of each interview, press conference or verbal exchange, the featherweight champ would have a massive lead.

Diaz, though, got quite the rise out of McGregor on Friday night at the UFC 196 weigh-ins. Check it out here:

After an on-stage scuffle at Thursday’s pre-fight presser, which saw McGregor and Diaz’s entourage get into it before being separated by a sizable contingent of UFC officials and venue security, UFC brass took no chances at the weigh-ins, holding the two main eventers apart for their staredown. Diaz, from several feet away, lunged in on McGregor and drew quite the flinch out of him.

This is the second time in a row that McGregor’s opponent has gotten a rise out of him at the weigh-ins. At UFC 194, then-featherweight champ Jose Aldo taunted McGregor next to the scales by striking his signature weigh-in pose. This visibly angered McGregor ahead of the fight (which, of course, McGregor won in 13 seconds).

We’ll see if Diaz can avoid the same fate Saturday night.

Nick Diaz Says ‘It’s On’ If Conor McGregor Touches Nate

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will finally square off in the main event of tomorrow night’s (March 5, 2016) UFC 196, but the two have barely made it thus far without fists flying. In fact, the two engaged in a scuffle of sorts during their stare down at yesterday’s (March 3, 2016) pre-fight press conference.

Apparently before the commotion ensued, the “Notorious” one confronted members of Diaz’s team, known as the Skrap Pack, taking a verbal shot at former UFC veteran Jake Shields:

“‘The f–k you lookin’ at?”, McGregor told one of Diaz’ teammates. “I’d strangle you in a heart beat. And you (Jake Shields) as well, you little juice head.” The Cesar Gracie BJJ black belt responded by saying he’d “slap the sh-t” out of McGregor, but “The Notorious” brushed his comments aside.

It appears as if Diaz’s team saw something like this coming, and it just so happens that Nate’s elder brother, Nick, who’s currently dealing with a suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), was ready to go if need be:

“If he even touches you, then it’s on,” Nick Diaz then said to Nate.

Both Team McGregor and Team Diaz were quick to jump on stage in the midst of the madness, but the issue was quickly resolved by security before both sides broke out into a full-fledged brawl.

Check out the video footage of the encounter below courtesy of TMZ (via Bloody Elbow):
