Stipe Miocic respects Alistair Overeem.

But he definitely is not afraid of the former champion.

Miocic and Overeem square off next month at UFC 203 in the hometown of the UFC heavyweight champion, Cleveland, Ohio.

Following his convincing knockout of Fabricio Werdum, Miocic (15-2) believes his resume speaks for itself – even if Overeem does not.

“Yeah, you’ll see a better version of me. I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna smash and keep this belt for a long time. I mean, he can say whatever he wants, man, whatever he wants to build his confidence up. But I’ve been training non-stop, I’m great shape, I’m ready to fight. I wish this fight was this weekend. I’m ready to roll, man. You know, whatever. He wants to say he’s the hungrier fighter, but listen man, I’m a savage, bro. I’m ready to go,” he said during a recent appearance on Submission Radio. “Listen, he’s a tough guy, he’s fought the best in the world, he’s a K-1 guy, he’s good on the ground, he’s good all around. Yeah, he’s come back strong and I’ve fought a lot of guys that have had a resurgence and have been fighting better and I put a stop to it real quick. So listen, come UFC 203 September 10, I’m walking out with that belt still around my waist. So whatever he wants to do or whatever he wants to think, he ain’t gonna win. It’s gonna be me with my hand raised at the end of the night.”

“I think I’ve fought the who’s who of the heavyweight division. Overeem is just another guy they put in front of me and he’s for me to put down again. I’m gonna be champ for a long time and he’s just another guy front of me.”

Along with his recent win over Werdum, Miocic has also bested the likes of Andrei Arlovski, Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson around a 2014 decision loss to Junior dos Santos. Overeem (41-14) sports a four-fight win streak highlighted by victories over Arlovski, dos Santos and Nelson.

Stipe Miocic Responds To Alistair Overeem: I’m Going To Smash You

Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will look to defend his title for the very first time in the main event of September 10’s UFC 203 when he meets legendary veteran Alistair “The Reem” Overeem in his home of Cleveland, Ohio. Miocic won the title last May at UFC 198 when he destroyed former champion Fabricio Werdum in the very first round. Since then, however, Overeem feels as if Miocic has been celebrating and partying too much, recently saying that he was the ‘hungrier’ fighter.

Speaking with Submission Radio earlier this week, Miocic responded to “The Reem”, labeling himself as a ‘savage’, and telling Overeem that he will smash him:

“Yeah, you’ll see a better version of me. I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna smash and keep this belt for a long time. I mean, he can say whatever he wants, man, whatever he wants to build his confidence up. But, I’ve been training non-stop, I’m great shape, I’m ready to fight. I wish this fight was this weekend. I’m ready to roll, man. You know, whatever. He wants to say he’s the hungrier fighter, but listen man, I’m a savage, bro. I’m ready to go.”

Despite his confidence, Miocic did note Overeem’s accomplishments and recent successes, as the Dutchman has won four straight with three coming by way of finish. At the end of the day, however, Miocic truly feels as if he’s the ringleader at 265-pounds right now:

“Listen, he’s a tough guy, he’s fought the best in the world, he’s a K-1 guy, he’s good on the ground, he’s good all around. Yeah, he’s come back strong and I’ve fought a lot of guys that have had a resurgence and have been fighting better and I put a stop to it real quick. Overeem is just another guy they put in front of me and he’s for me to put down again. I’m gonna be champ for a long time and he’s just another guy front of me.”

Who do you see walking away with heavyweight gold on September 10th?

CM Punk On His UFC Debut: “I’m Gonna Win, I’ve Never Been So Confident About Something”

As noted, CM Punk appeared on popular radio station HOT 97 out of New York on Monday and spoke with DJ Peter Rosenberg about the premiere of his FOX Sports 1 documentary series, “The Evolution of Punk,” which kicked off on Monday night, as well as his upcoming Octagon debut against Mickey Gall at the UFC 203 pay-per-view next month.

Apparently spending a healthy amount of time working with Duke Roufus, Ben Askren and the rest of the gang at the Roufusport Gym based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin has done wonders for the confidence of the former WWE Superstar as he prepares for his first official Octagon assignment on 9/10.

Punk spoke with Rosenberg about his bout with Gall, which will be his professional MMA debut, and made it clear that if you ask him, losing isn’t even a possibility.

“Honestly, there’s no assuming [I win]. I’m gonna win. I’ve never been more confident about something in my entire life,” said Punk. “I’ll probably sit on the beach for a little bit. I’ll probably maybe take a little vacation with the wife but I’ll get bored real quick and I’ll just want to keep going. I’ll want to get the second fight as soon as I can.”

As Punk continued, he explained that he has learned the proper way to balance out his training week-to-week, and everything that comes with it.

“I wish I could fight tomorrow. I feel amazing. You get grinded down in the middle of the week. You gotta learn how to balance things out. It’s difficult but I love it so much it almost makes it easy.”

Punk, who has had a reputation in the pro wrestling world at times for being a cranky/unhappy person, wrapped up the discussion on this particular topic during the interview by making it clear that this is something he is very much enjoying.

“I’m just having the time of my life.”

CM Punk’s Octagon debut against Mickey Gall takes place on the undercard of the UFC 203 pay-per-view next month. Headlined by Stipe Miocic’s first UFC Heavyweight Championship defense against Alistair Overeem, UFC 203 takes place on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.

Alistair “The Reem” Overeem, put simply, is a legend of the heavyweight division. The veteran Dutch kickboxer is a former DREAM and Strikeforce champion and will get the opportunity to add a UFC title to his collection when he faces off with reigning divisional kingpin Stipe Miocic in the main event of September 10’s UFC 203 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from Cleveland, Ohio. While his long list of accomplishments speak for themselves, becoming a UFC champion could be the icing on the cake in cementing Overeem as one of the best heavyweights of all-time if not the best, although “The Reem” recently told Luke Thomas at SiriusXM that it wasn’t up to him to label himself that.

One man who could challenge Overeem for that label would be former longtime PRIDE champion Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko, a man many consider not only to be amongst the best heavyweights of all-time, but amongst the best fighters of all-time period. “The Reem” doesn’t appear to agree with that theory, however, saying that Emelianenko took the ‘easy route’:

“I like the wording. I like it, but I don’t think it’s up to me to give it to myself.”

“He kind of always took the easy route, which he’s doing now. He had an excellent run in Rings in Japan. I fought there, even, in ’99. Excellent run there, excellent run in PRIDE, but after PRIDE he never really tested himself.

“If he really wanted to go down as the best heavyweight ever, then he should’ve signed with the UFC and taken the hard route, because the UFC is the hardest division. That’s just what it is.”

After going nearly eight years without suffering a defeat, “The Last Emperor” went on a downward spiral, losing three straight in Strikeforce in 2010 and 2011. He would later take a hiatus from the sport before returning earlier this year to fight under the Rizin banner where he submitted a relative unknown in Jaideep Singh last December. Emeliaenko then took on ex-UFC light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado at EFN 50 this past June, taking home a highly controversial decision victory.

Despite his harsh comments, Overeem appeared to be respectful of Emelianenko, but do you see where he’s coming from here? “The Last Emperor” was rumored to be in talks with the UFC in past months, but it’s unlikely that he’ll ever grace the Octagon at this point in his career. Has that damaged his legacy?

CM Punk Says WWE Stars Embarrassed Themselves With How They Reacted To Conor McGregor

Ahead of his Octagon debut, which will be documented in the premiere of his new multi-part special that kicks off on FS1 tonight called “The Evolution Of Punk,” former WWE Superstar Phil “CM Punk” Brooks recently appeared on popular radio station HOT 97 for an interview with Peter Rosenberg.

During the interview, which you can check oot above, Punk covered a lot of ground with Rosenberg. In addition to talking about his upcoming Octagon debut, the former WWE Superstar shared his thoughts on the ongoing beef between UFC mega-star “The Notorious” Conor McGregor and his former place of employment, World Wrestling Entertainment.

By now everyone has seen the back-and-forth between McGregor and WWE, which got started when McGregor referred to the current WWE roster as “messed up p*ssies.” The comments from the wildly popular Irish fighting star would prompt responses from a number of WWE talent, including but not limited to Roman Reigns, Ric Flair and Kurt Angle (a former star).

As Punk explained to Rosenberg during his HOT 97 appearance on Monday morning, he felt the WWE talent that took the bait from McGregor “embarrassed” themselves and “got worked” by the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion.

It’s worth pointing out that the main two WWE-related figures that McGregor was asked about on the official UFC 202 media conference call that started the drama between himself and several of WWE’s stars were actually Brock Lesnar and CM Punk. McGregor noted that he respected the fact that Lesnar got into the cage, but noted that he had to be “juiced to his eyeballs” to do so. Regarding Punk, McGregor said he didn’t have much of an opinion of him because he hasn’t seem him fight yet.

That will change at the UFC 203 pay-per-view, which follows this Saturday’s UFC 202 event headlined by the Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz 170-pound rematch, as Punk is slated to finally make his fighting debut in the Octagon.

Headlined by Stipe Miocic vs. Alistair Overeem for the UFC Heavyweight Championship, UFC 203 takes place on Saturday, September 10th from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Punk is scheduled to compete against up-and-coming prospect Mickey Gall in an undercard bout on the pay-per-view.
