Ahead of his scheduled fight against number five ranked UFC Welterweight contender and former Ultimate Fighter champion Kelvin Gastelum at Saturday’s UFC 205 event, number six ranked UFC Welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is the focus of a number of former MMA legends and current MMA fighters.
Featured above is a new video released by the UFC on Wednesday afternoon called, “UFC 205: On Point – Donald Cerrone,” which features the likes of Joe Rogan, Chuck Liddell, Don Frye, Eddie Alvarez, Cub Swanson, John Dodson and others breaking down the “fearless fighting style” of UFC 205’s Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

And the breakdowns just keep on coming. One of the most anticipated bouts on the card pits former middleweight champion Chris Weidman against the returning Yoel Romero in a bout that has major title implications. As one of the only native New Yorkers on the card, Chris Weidman has a ton of pressure on his shoulders but also has a lot to prove to both himself and the masses. Will Yoel Romero give the former champ the opportunity to seize redemption or will the Cuban native be too powerful and explosive for Weidman?

Will Yoel Romero give the former champ the opportunity to seize redemption or will the Cuban native be too powerful and explosive for Weidman?
Chris Weidman was looking to be the next streaking middleweight champion after dethroning Anderson Silva at UFC 162. Despite talks of those victories over Silva being a fluke, Weidman has since proved himself with victories over Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort. Losing the belt to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194, this bout is Weidman’s return to the octagon after an extended hiatus due to injury. The first thing that Weidman should look to do in this bout is push Romero back. He’ll have to do so cautiously utilizing a high guard and consistent feints to keep Romero guessing. Even if done well there will constantly be the threat of an explosive strike coming Weidman’s way. Hand fighting, leg kicks, front kicks, and crosses to the body will be effective against Romero who fights in an opposite southpaw stance. The crosses to the body can work as a fake takedown attempt which could throw Romero off. When Weidman decides to commit, Romero may be so confused as to what’s coming that a double or single leg can be secured. Failing that, Weidman could always choose to engage in clinch warfare as a means of tiring out Romero who tends to fade down the stretch.
On the other side of the equation, if Yoel Romero wants to be victorious at UFC 205, he’ll have add variety to his arsenal as well. While he’s enjoyed a tremendous amount of success during his UFC tenure due to his explosive striking style and terrifying wrestling, he should look to combine all of his tools together in order to put the well rounded Chris Weidman into a defensive shell. Romero’s striking is so sudden and powerful that most fighters are likely to either back all the out of the way of his strikes or flinch and be hit for their troubles. He can utilize his explosive movement in different ways in order to get Weidman to react at the wrong times. Feinting will be Romero’s best friend in this bout, particularly in the wrestling realm. A fake shot to an uppercut is sure to pay dividends in the long run. It’s hard to say who the better wrestler is though Romero has superior credentials. Threatening with wrestling can’t hurt and will open Weidman up to strikes from angles where he won’t see things coming.
This fight, like all others, is as much mental as it is physical. Yoel Romero is a physical beast with a ton of gifts. If he couples the mental warfare with his natural physicality, then victory is assured. The thing is we’ve seen moments where he relies too heavily on his natural talent rather than strategy. Other than a few blunders here and there, Chris Weidman has always been a man who sticks to a plan and forces others to fight his fight. Look for the former champion to get back to his winning ways by netting a hard fought decision victory at UFC 205.
Who ya got at UFC 205, Chris Weidman or Yoel Romero?

UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez is steadily approaching his first title defense of his UFC career, and it’s coming on the grandest stage in the history of mixed martial arts (MMA).
Alvarez will main event the UFC’s first event from Madison Square Garden when he collides with featherweight champ Conor McGregor, as he not only attempts to defend his title against the brash Irishman, but will try to stop ‘Notorious’ in his tracks from making promotion history as well. If McGregor is able to emerge victorious this Saturday (November 12, 2016) he will become the first dual-weight champion in UFC history.
Earlier today (Wednesday November 9, 2016) Alvarez participated in an open workout ahead of his UFC 205 main event this weekend, going to work on the same court that the New York Knicks play on each and every home game of the NBA season. Alvarez spoke to media after his workout this morning in New York, courtesy of MMA Fighting, and offered his prediction for how the fight with McGregor will go down Saturday night:
“I think I’m going to land that big shot,” Alvarez said. “I think this guy’s worried about a lot of grappling and a lot of wrestling. I think where it’s going to end up, when his mind’s on that I’m going to land that big shot and then I’m going to submit him.”
As per usual, the Irish are expected to make a huge impact come fight night in ‘The Big Apple’, as McGregor’s native crowd always pours out in support after making the trip down to the states to cheer their fellow countryman on as he goes to war inside the Octagon. Regardless of what the crowd’s reaction to him is Saturday night, Alvarez thanks the fans for coming out to not only support McGregor, but the event itself:
“Hey, I’m blessed,” he said. “Whether you’ve got a red, white and orange flag, it don’t matter what you go. You’re here and I appreciate you guys.”
Alvarez has worked as long and hard as anyone else who has dedicated his life to the sport, securing his first UFC title with his thunderous first round knockout over the now-former lightweight king Rafael dos Anjos in July earlier this year. ‘The Underground King’ is now soaking in the moments leading up to his historical throw-down with McGregor, as he has now found his way to the biggest stage the MMA game has ever seen:
“Magic, pure magic,” he said. “Look, I fought 13 years to put my life to put myself on this stage, in front of the biggest crowd, and I am super-excited to go out there and do something violent, and do something high-paced.”
The lightweight champ has been very confident in his ability to get the job done against the heavy-handed 145-pound champion this weekend, and is looking to ‘make the UFC great again’ he gets the job done.
Alvarez and McGregor will meet in the main event of UFC 205 for the lightweight title live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City this Saturday night.

UFC 205 is slated to take place on Nov. 12 from the famed Madison Square Garden in New York. The event will mark the promotion’s first trip to the Empire State since the sport was legalized there last year, and the card is stacked to say the least.
The main event will feature a highly anticipated lightweight title fight between reigning 155-pound champion Eddie Alvarez and featherweight kingpin Conor McGregor. McGregor will look to make history, as he hopes to become the first man in promotional history to hold two titles at one time.
While his loyal fan base undoubtedly has his back, many feel as if McGregor is in over his head against the battle tested lightweight champion.
With that being said, it’s interesting to flip the script and take a look at five reasons why the “Notorious” one may very well destroy the lightweight boss.
McGregor’s Power
This is the most clear path to victory for McGregor, in my opinion. The Irishman has proven to be an elite level striker and his power has led him to great successes within the sport, as 17 of his 20 career victories have come by way of knockout. In addition to that, six of his seven UFC featherweight victories have come by way of T/KO.
It is important to note that Alvarez will be the bigger man in this fight, but McGregor has competed at 155-pounds before and has seen success in doing so. Also, McGregor proved that not only he can get his hands on bigger men, but that he can drop them as well in his rematch with Nate Diaz last August. Diaz, a bigger, stronger natural lightweight, was dropped multiple times by the “Notorious” one early on in that bout.
If McGregor can indeed hit Alvarez, “The Underground King” may find himself in trouble, especially given our next reason…
