The UFC 205 press conference kicked off earlier today (September 27, 2016), and as many expected it contained a heated back-and-forth battle between Conor McGregor and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.

McGregor started off by stating that he had agreed to step into the Octagon with Alvarez 10-days or so ago, but it was Alvarez who had the issue getting pen to paper on the bout.

Alvarez stated that the only reason he was going to negotiate the financials of the contract, was because he believes McGregor will be an easy payday for him:

“I was okay with the money, I was gonna negotiate the money, because this guy’s easy money.”

McGregor claims that he has been beating Alvarez’s style of fighting for quite some time, with his match against Chad Mendes at UFC 189 being a prime example for that notion. The Irishman claims that the 155-pound champ is nothing more than ‘stuffy wrestler with an overhand’:

“I’ve been whoopin’ that style a long, long time. He’s a stocky, stuffy wrestler with an overhand, that’s it. So, I’ve been beatin’ these guys up.”

This set the lightweight champion off, who would then pick up the mic and claim that deep down ‘The Notorious One’ knows that he doesn’t have a shot at winning come fight night in New York City, and that even the Irishman’s own coach is having doubts about his fighter’s ability to pick up the win:

“Tell him the truth. You ain’t got a f*****’ shot. Tell him the truth. You ain’t got a shot. Your coach knows you ain’t got a shot, and anybody who knows anything about fighting knows you ain’t got a f*****’ shot. You ain’t got a shot. You’re here because you’re the easiest division; that’s why you’re here. Take them stupid-ass glasses off.”

If McGregor is indeed able to emerge victorious in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd, he will be the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in different weight classes simultaneously, as McGregor became the featherweight champion back in December when he downed Jose Aldo in 13-seconds in the main event of UFC 194.

It’s a tall task at hand for the 145-pound title-holder, however, as Alvarez is one of the most talented and experienced lightweights to have ever stepped inside the UFC’s Octagon.

Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez got the fireworks started in style at today’s (Tues., September 27, 2016) pre-fight presser from The Theater at Madison Square Garden.

Heading into their main event of November 12’s UFC 205 from New York City.McGregor not surprisingly flaunted his wealth for his last fight with Nate Diaz at August’s UFC 202, where a new UFC PPV record was reportedly set. McGregor claimed to have made $25 million for the fight, but he deemed his champion vs. champion bout with Alvarez the “biggest fight of all time.”

That’s why he was surprised that Alvarez accepted it on the terms of his old contract, something “Mystic Mac” blasted for not re-negotiating before the monumental bout:

“He got it done by signing his last contract. He didn’t even negotiate new money for himself. Imagine that. Look at everybody up here. They’re all dressed like me, they’re all trying to talk like me, they’re all trying to be me. Everyone in the game wants this fight. This is the lottery fight. And this man took it on his last contract.

“Imagine that. Imagine getting the biggest fight in the history of the game, and saying, “Shut your mouth kid, you’re gettin’ paid what you got your last fight, and you’re lucky you’re even gettin’ that.” “Yes sir,” and sign it. That’s what happened.”

The topic of “The Notorious” holding on to a featherweight belt he has never defended has been a hotly discussed one today, and the issue was brought up during the presser. As for what McGregor plans to do should he defeat Alvarez, he proclaimed he wouldn’t give either belt up, and it would be hard to wrest one from his iron-clad grasp:

“I’m gonna wrap one on one shoulder, I’m gonna wrap one on the other shoulder, and you’re gonna need a f*****’ army to come and take those belts from me.”

With that established, the UFC’s most infamous wordsmith continued the verbal onslaught at his next opponent. After berating Alvarez’ payday for the historic card, McGregor suggested that “The Underground King” was just another name looking for a huge payday thanks to his name:

“He’s just another bum trying to sell some s***.”

Conor McGregor Loves New York: I Run This Whole S***

After being submitted by Nate Diaz at last March’s UFC 196, outspoken featherweight champion Conor McGregor appeared to a bit calmer than his usual outlandish self in terms of verbal assaults and predictions. After being submitted by Nate Diaz at last March’s UFC 196, outspoken featherweight champion Conor McGregor appeared to a bit calmer than his usual outlandish self in terms of verbal assaults and predictions.

Then, however, he got his revenge on Diaz via majority decision at August 20’s UFC 202. And now, McGregor is right back to work as it was announced last night (September 26, 2016) that the “Notorious” one will take on 155-pound champion Eddie Alvarez in a bona fide super fight at arguably the promotion’s biggest card to date in UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12, 2016 from New York.

Back into the win column, and set to take in what will likely be yet another massive pay day, McGregor has returned to form. Appearing at today’s (September 27, 2016) UFC 205 press conference, the featherweight champion continuously blasted “The Underground King”. And on top of that, “Mystic Mac” made one of his infamous predictions, also showing his love for the Empire State:

“Shut your f***ing mouth,” McGregor told Alvarez. “I love New York. I run this whole s**t. And Mystic Mac predicts I’m going to KO you inside of one round.”

The “Notorious” one has long said that being a two-weight world champion was his goal, and that competing at lightweight was a possibility. Now that he has the opportunity to do both, McGregor feels as if his biggest impact will finally be felt:

“I’m very happy with the 155-pound weight limit. I feel like with all the divisions I ran around and ran through, 155 I feel will be the one where I take over the most.”

Who do you see walking away with lightweight gold on the grandest stage of them all?

During Tuesday’s UFC 205 press conference in New York City, UFC President Dana White announced yet another fight for the card, which takes place November 12th at Madison Square Garden. In a battle of top 10 lightweights, #1 contender Khabib Nurmagomedov will take on #6 contender Michael Johnson. Johnson is coming off of a first round knockout win less than two weeks ago at UFC Fight Night in Hidalgo, Texas, while Nurmagomedov is getting his first elite opponent in over two years, as he fought late replacement Darrel Horcher in April in his return from various injuries.

Nurmagomedov had been sent bout agreements to face champion Eddie Alvarez on either this card or the following month’s UFC 206 in Toronto, but going by his tweets, this may have been Alvarez’s defense against UFC Featherweight Champion Conor Mcgregor at MSG:

Of course, there’s also the possibility that Nurmagomedov was added to the card with the idea that he can be an injury replacement in the main event as a worthy top contender.
