The UFC’s first show from Madison Square Garden in New York City may have just got it’s main event, and it’s a big one.

According to reports from MMA Insider Dizz on Twitter, negotiations are ongoing to get the UFC’s featherweight and lightweight champions to clash for the 155-pound title, however, McGregor wants to keep his title and defend it early next yer:

Dizz also reports that ‘The Notorious One’ also turned down a movie roll to participate in the UFC’s massive Madison Square Garden event:

McGregor (20-3) is coming off of a huge win over Nate Diaz in their welterweight rematch at UFC 202, where the Irish champ took home a majority decision over the Stockton Native after 25-minutes of pure madness.

UFC President Dana White went on record prior to UFC 202 that ‘win or lose’ McGregor would drop back down to featherweight to defend his title. It appears now that White may have had a change of heart.

Alvarez (28-4) is coming off of the biggest win of his career in which he knocked out the now-former 155-pound champ Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 95, to become the new lightweight champion and secure his first ever UFC title.

The former Bellator lightweight champion has lost only one contest since joining the UFC, a unanimous decision loss to Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone back in 2014, and has been campaigning heavily for a big money fight with the Irish phenom.

Will Alvarez receive his ‘gimme fight’, as he refers to it, with McGregor?

UFC 205 takes place live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.

According to Marcos Rogerio de Lima, he’ll be part of UFC 205 this November against New York’s own Gian Villante.

The event takes place November 12 from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The state lifted the MMA ban earlier this year, clearing the way for the Octagon to set up shop there.

De Lima (14-3-1) has won three of his four UFC fights including a recent first round submission of Clint Hester. The Brazilian was a semifinalist in the heavyweight division on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.

Villante (14-7), meanwhile, sports a 4-4 record inside the Octagon. One of his training partners, Chris Weidman, is expected to meet Yoel Romero in a middleweight title-eliminator on the card. He has alternated wins and losses over his last four, losing to Ilir Latifi in March.

Ronda Rousey Finally Gets Tested By USADA

We haven’t seen former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in the Octagon in 2016, and it appears the star’s pattern of random testing from USADA reflects that, for one reason or another.

According to a report from Champions.co’s Amy Kaplan, Rousey was just tested by USADA twice last week, something that could signify that she’s finally ready to return to action sometime in the somewhat near future. However, it also calls into qustion the pattern in which they’ve been testing her, as those two tests were the first she had been administered in at least six months.

Anti-doping advocate Dave/Dim had the numbers on Twitter:

USADA lists Rousey as having been tested a total of only four times throughout 2016, a number that should arguably be larger considering that although she may have been on hiatus, she was technically still an active member of the UFC roster, and therefore under the full scrutiny of the UFC’s new and more stringent random testing program in conjunction with USADA.

Rousey recently teased a return in a Reebok commercial, and her boyfriend, UFC heavyweight Travis Browne, has gone on record as saying he “feels bad for whoever’s next.” But “Rowdy’s” awaited return is still very much an unknown, as it’s been confirmed she won’t return at November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

USADA testing her twice last week may mean she will be back sometime soon, but nearly 10 months after her shocking knockout loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, that’s just not something fight fans can view as a foregone conclusion.

It was recently rumored that a potential welterweight clash between former champion Robbie Lawler and former lightweight title challenger Donald Cerrone was in the works for November 12’s UFC 205 from Madison Square Garden. It now appears as if the bout is a done deal.

Anthony Lima of Cleveland 92.3 reported earlier today (September 7, 2016) that the two men have signed on the dotted line per UFC President Dana White:

Lawler last competed at July 30’s UFC 201 from Atlanta, Georgia, where he surrendered his belt in brutal fashion at the hands of Tyron Woodley. Prior to the loss, Lawler had won five straight including two defenses of his previously held 170-pound strap.

Cerrone, on the other hand, has been on a tear since moving up to welterweight. After losing in a lightweight title bout with former champion Rafael dos Anjos, “Cowboy” decided to test the waters at 170 pounds and has now won three straight by finish over Alex Oliveira, Patrick Cote, and Rick Story.

This potential bout has all the makings to be a firefight and would be a fantastic edition to what should be one of the promotion’s biggest cards of the year in its first-ever event from New York City’s historic Madison Square Garden. The bout would also hold major title implications if it indeed comes to fruition.

Who would you pick to come out on top?

It appears we have one of the main card bouts for UFC 205 and the Octagon’s debut in New York, as Anthony Lima of Cleveland 92.3 confirmed with UFC president Dana White that Robbie Lawler-Donald Cerrone is a go.

Reports of the welterweight bout have circulated for the past several weeks, with Cerrone hinting that a big-time matchup would be next for him.

The former UFC lightweight title contender is 3-0 at 170 pounds, while Lawler will be fighting for the first time since dropping the welterweight belt to Tyron Woodley.

Other rumored fights for the Madison Square Garden event in November include Chris Weidman-Yoel Romero and Al Iaquinta-Thiago Alves.

Pivotal Middleweight Bout Rumored For UFC 205

It’s no secret that former UFC middleweight champion and New York native Chris Weidman would like to fight at the UFC’s first card in the Empire State, which will serve as UFC 205 on November 12, 2016 from Madison Square Garden. Despite recently receiving neck surgery, it appears as if Weidman will get his wish.

According to a tweet from 1MMA News & Rumours, and a report from Fansided, the UFC is targeting a bout between Weidman and No. 4-ranked Yoel Romero for the November card:

Weidman hasn’t competed since surrendering his title to Luke Rockhold at December 2015’s UFC 194. He was then scheduled to rematch Rockhold at June 4’s UFC 199, but was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury.

Romero, on the other hand, also hasn’t competed since UFC 194 where he scored a somewhat controversial decision victory over former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. In the aftermath of the bout, it was revealed that Romero had tested positive for a banned substance, but his suspension was reduced to six months after his team proved that a tainted supplement was the reason for the positive test.
