No. 4-ranked former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is gearing up to take on No. 5-ranked Gegard Mousasi in the co-main event of April 8’s UFC 210 from Buffalo, New York, but he recently discussed the potential boxing super fight between UFC lightweight king Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.

Weidman, like many, thought of the fight as a ‘joke’ at first, but he now feels certain that the fight will take place:

“So Mayweather and McGregor is going to happen. 100 percent. That’s a fact,” said Weidman during a recent interview on MMA Report with Mike ‘Gunz’ Gunzelman. “I was just like everybody else. I thought it was a joke of a fight. Obviously McGregor has no chance in that fight. But everyone’s still going to pay to watch it because it’s Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor is going to talk. He’s going to say things to Floyd Mayweather that no one has ever said to him before. He’s going to have Floyd Mayweather’s head spinning. It’s going to be insane. It’s going to be an amazing event.”

If the two men do indeed meet in the squared circle, many seem to be giving the advantage to Mayweather and for good reason, as McGregor has never competed in a professional boxing match.

Weidman, however, was sure to note the size advantage that the Irishman would have over “Money”:

“Mayweather is going to be such a small man next to Conor,” explained Weidman. “This guy is a giant. You have to realize that Conor McGregor was the biggest 145-pound fighter the UFC has ever had. He cut so much weight to make 145 pounds. He’s going to be so big and so heavy. He’s going to be so much longer and taller than Floyd Mayweather. His head is going to be so much bigger. It’s just two completely different animals.”

What do you make of Weidman’s comments?

No. 5-ranked UFC middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi will look to extend his win streak to five straight in the co-main event of April 8’s UFC 210 from Buffalo, New York when he takes on No. 4-ranked former champion Chris Weidman.

The fight will mark a pivotal test for “The Dreamcatcher”, but he appears to be well prepared. In fact, Mousasi said that he knows how Weidman is going to fight:

“I know how Chris Weidman’s going to fight,” Mousasi said on today’s UFC 210 conference call. “He’s going to come forward, he’s going to try to put the pressure on me, work on the cardio, do some wrestling, do some striking. But at the end of the day I’m prepared, I know exactly what he’s going to do, so I’m more than prepared. I got my skills, and I’m going to show it the 8th of April. I’m very confident, that’s all I can say.”

While Mousasi has been a bit outspoken in the lead up to his bout with Weidman, he claims that he’s ‘not acting’, but rather just ‘speaking’ his ‘mind’:

“I’m just speaking my mind,” Mousasi said. “I’m not acting. I’m not an actor. Some guys, they’re good at trash talking. They put on an act like WWE. But at the end of the day I’m just me, I’m just speaking my mind. I’m coming to fight.”

A win over Weidman will certainly do wonders for Mousasi in terms of his place in the 185-pound rankings, but it likely won’t earn him a title shot, but he admits that he’s ‘not focused on the title right now’:

“I don’t think (I will get a title shot),” Mousasi said. “Yoel Romero is next, he’s the No. 1 contender. I’m not focused on the title right now. I’m just focused on Weidman, to get the win. That’s all.”

Do you expect Mousasi to beat Weidman, or will the former champion bounce back after dropping two straight bouts?

Daniel Cormier Says Rematch With Anthony Johnson Will Be ‘Worse Than The First One’

Daniel Cormier will put his light heavyweight title on the line for the first time since Oct. 2015 when he meets No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson in the main event of April 8’s UFC 210 from Buffalo, New York. At 38 years of age, Cormier has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the

Daniel Cormier will put his light heavyweight title on the line for the first time since Oct. 2015 when he meets No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson in the main event of April 8’s UFC 210 from Buffalo, New York. At 38 years of age, Cormier has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the last few years, which has led some to wonder if he’s slowing down.

“DC” did compete last July at UFC 200, however, scoring a dominant decision victory over former longtime middleweight king Anderson Silva in a fight that he said was the ‘easiest’ of his career:

“I have no idea what people are talking about,” Cormier said Thursday on UFC 210’s media conference call when asked if he may have lost a step. “I fought Anderson Silva on two days’ notice and I beat a guy who people consider the greatest fighter of all-time, 30-26 across the board. There was no danger in that fight. That was the easiest fight of my entire career. I don’t know how I lost a step. If anything, I feel like I’m still able to get these takedowns whenever I choose to.”

Cormier’s wrestling will likely be a focus point for him in his rematch with Johnson, who happens to be one of the most prolific knockout artists in the sport. “DC”, who scored a submission victory over “Rumble” in the first meeting, also said that this fight will be ‘worse’ for Johnson:

“I feel like I’m a better fighter today than I was the first time,” Cormier said. “You know the first time we fought, I fought him on three-and-a-half weeks’ notice. I had a three-week training camp. I had a three-week training camp and still outworked him. I know I was a different opponent than his previous guy, but he still had a full training camp. I had three-and-a-half weeks to get prepared for a championship fight and still found a way to outwork him. What’s going to happen now that I’ve been training for him for 12 weeks? It’s going to be worse than the first one.”

Who do you expect to walk away with 205-pound gold on April 8?
