Ohhhh babbbyyyy!!!

Remember all the crap we were talking about the UFC?…well we take all that back. No, not really, but this is certainly a step in the right direction. Up and comer Yair Rodriguez will be facing UFC veteran Frankie Edgar on May 13th in Dallas Texas.

That’s right, the UFC 211 card just keeps getting better. In  a recent twitter post, UFC Espanol spilled the beans and put out this nifty tweet of the two featherweights.

Edgar is 6-1 in his last 7 fights, losing to Jose Aldo but exonerating himself with a unanimous decision victory over Jeremy Stevens.

Yair has been flawless, with a 10-0 record including 6-0 in the octagon, he made short work of B.J. Penn and has looked light years ahead of his competitors. This kid is a lot to handle and if Frankie’s smart he’ll put him on his ass within the first 5 minutes.

Yair has the reach and height advantage which is made even more pronounced when he pulls out his street fighter kicks. You can bet that he wants to keep this fight in open space and at range. But if anyone can pull it off, it’s Frankie.

If Yair can get pass Frankie Edgar you better believe he will no longer but up and coming – he will have arrived.

With the addition of this fight along with Eddie Alvarez vs. Dustin Poirier, Joanna Jedrzejczyk vs Jessica Andrade, and Stipe Miocic vs. Junior Dos Santos, this card is shaping up to be a real barn burner. We’ll keep you posted!

The UFC has announced that No. 5-ranked UFC heavyweight contender Ben Rothwell has been flagged by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) for a potential anti-doping violation in regards to a sample collected on Feb. 6, 2017.

Rothwell is now provisionally suspended while USADA conducts its investigation, meaning that he has been pulled from his scheduled bout with former champion Fabricio Werdum, which was set for UFC 211 on May 13, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.

This isn’t the first time Rothwell has had to deal with a failed test, as he was suspended nine months by the UFC in 2013 after it was made clear that he had elevated levels of testosterone.

“Big” Ben is coming off of a unanimous decision loss to former champion Junior Dos Santos last April, but prior to that he had won four straight over the likes of Brandon Vera, Alistair Overeem, Matt Mitrione and Josh Barnett.

No. 6-ranked UFC welterweight contender Jorge “Gamebred” Masvidal is coming off of the biggest victory of his career, as he scored a brutal second round knockout over the previously surging Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC on FOX 23 this past January in Denver, Colorado.

Masvidal had some choice words for “Cowboy” after the finish, and he recently revealed to Ariel Helwani on yesterday’s edition of The MMA Hour that he said only one thing:

“You know me now, motherf*cker.”

The 170-pound division as well as the UFC has also seemed to be made aware of Masvidal, as he has been granted a pivotal fight for his next outing. Set to compete again at May 13’s UFC 211, “Gamebred” will take on No. 3-ranked Demian Maia in what could be deemed a title eliminator.

While he has certainly received more attention as of late, Masvidal also feels as if he’s being used to beat guys that aren’t well liked by the UFC:

“I got the call from UFC, and UFC used to not like me not too long ago; but, they figured out one thing, they can use me to take out all the guys the don’t like. So, I’m here baby, I’m going to do what I do come May 13,” said Masvidal.

“Because they did the math, it’s ancient secret math. Do you understand what I’m saying,” said Masvidal. “You’re looking at me and like, ‘Man, this dude is complete, bro. This guy is a problem in all fucking areas. We could use this guy to eliminate the guys we don’t like. So maybe Masvidal is kind of wild, he’s a spick, we can’t push him that much, but we can use him to eliminate the others becasue this guy is a real bad guy.’”

Do you agree with Masvidal’s comments and do you expect him to continue his rise up the ranks when he meets Maia later this year?
