When it comes to the punishments handed down for the UFC 229 post fight brawl, Dana White has a problem with the financial penalty imposed on Khabib Nurmagomedov but has no problem with the sanctions handed to his teammates. Khabib Nurmagomedov has no regret for his actions after UFC 229 this past October.
Following his fourth-round submission victory over Conor McGregor to retain his UFC lightweight title, things got out of hand for the Russian. He jumped the Octagon, and attacked Team McGregor cornerman Dillon Danis. Khabib’s attack sparked a huge team vs. team brawl inside and outside of the Octagon. A brawl that nearly involved Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio .
Khabib was recently issued a nine-month suspension and $500,000 fine for his involvement in the shenanigans. However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) offered to reduce his suspension to six months if he participated in an anti-bullying campaign. It’s an offer Khabib has since turned down.
Speaking to Russian channel Match TV, Khabib said he doesn’t have a gram of regret for his actions four months ago in Las Vegas (via Independent UK):
“I’ve had many situations in my life that I regret, you can’t turn back time,’ Nurmagomedov said. “But this is not on the list of things I regret. If the situation happened again 100 times, I would do the same thing 100 times.
“I don’t have a gram of regret about my actions. Some people liked it, some people didn’t. It makes no difference. I did what I wanted to do.”
Khabib’s comments don’t come as much of a surprise. Especially since his manager recently declared that he’s “done” fighting in Las Vegas. “The Eagle” will likely find a regular home fighting in venues such as Madison Square Garden from New York City, or The Forum in California.
It will be interesting to see what the UFC decides to do with Khabib once his suspension is up this summer.

Title: Khabib Nurmagomedov Nearly Landed on Leonardo DiCaprio During UFC 229 Brawl
Author: Damon Martin
Khabib Nurmagomedov may have been aiming at Dillon Danis during the UFC 229 post-fight brawl but he nearly gave Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio flashbacks of the time a bear mauled him in the film ‘The Revenant’.
The entire situation unraveled just seconds after Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor this past October by fourth-round rear-naked choke.
Almost immediately after Nurmagomedov secured the victory, he leaped over the cage and went after McGregor’s teammate who was working his corner that night. The moment the undefeated UFC champion made his way over the cage, a huge melee broke out in the crowd.
It turns out when Nurmagomedov made that jump, he nearly landed on the Oscar winner, who was sitting cage side at the time for the fights.
“Honestly, I didn’t recognize them, apart from Leonardo DiCaprio,” Nurmagomedov said about the celebrities sitting in the first row when he jumped out of the Octagon when speaking to MatchTV in Russia. “He is a big fan of martial arts. He told me, ‘I was sitting five meters away, you nearly landed on me!’ It was interesting for me how he would sit there [amid so many people].
“He’s a regular guy, but it was surprising to me, when people came up to him for a photo, he said ‘I don’t take photos.’ I asked why, and he said it’s not possible to make everyone happy. He said he only takes photos with kids. With everyone else, it’s not possible. That surprised me, but in general, he’s a regular guy.”
Nurmagomedov found out about nearly falling on DiCaprio when he met the actor in Paris a few months ago — and he did manage to get a photo taken with him.
As for the repercussions from that post-fight brawl, Nurmagomedov was just recently sentenced to a nine-month suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission as well as fined $500,000 for his actions.
Nurmagomedov could have his suspension reduced by three months if he completes an approved anti-bullying message for the state of Nevada but as of now, the reigning UFC lightweight champion has said he has no plans to record that public service announcement and will instead serve his full nine-month suspension.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) had a busy day on Tuesday. They handed out four suspensions including one to lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Nurmagomedov received a $500,000 fine and a nine-month suspension for his participation in the UFC 229 post-fight melee. His counterpart in that fiasco, Conor McGregor, received a $50,000 fine and a six-month suspension for his role in the brawl.
Khabib’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, told ESPN that his client is none too happy with the commission’s ruling and furthermore doesn’t think Khabib will be competing in Vegas anytime soon.
“He’s done with Vegas for giving his brothers such harsh punishment,” said Abdelaziz. “He loves MSG [Madison Square Garden]. Lots of his fans live around there, and New York has always been good to him. He misses fighting in New York.”
Abdelaziz also weighed in on the fines.
“I don’t think it’s fair,” Abdelaziz said of the fines. “Khabib gets $500K and Conor gets $50K? I think it’s bulls—.”
The other two fighters suspended in today’s hearings were PFL lightweight Abubakar Nurmagomedov (Khabib’s cousin) and Zubaira Tukhugov. Both men received a one-year suspension and $25,000 fine.
Since Khabib isn’t interested in returning to action until his teammates are able to resume their careers, the lightweight champion has targeted the annual November MSG show.
