Jon Jones Still Wants To Fight Brock Lesnar

Jon Jones is still open to a superfight with Brock Lesnar down the road.

Jon Jones is ready to make his return to the Octagon at UFC 232 next month (Sat. December 29, 2018).

Jones will headline UFC 232 against Alexander Gustafsson in Las Vegas. Yesterday (Fri. November 2, 2018), Jones and Gustafsson participated in a pre-fight press conference in New York. While most of the attention was on their upcoming fight, Jones was asked to look a bit into the future.

Prior to getting suspended by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), Jones defeated Daniel Cormier for the 205-pound championship. After the victory, Jones proceeded to call out Brock Lesnar for a super fight at heavyweight. However, due to his failed USADA test, that fight never had the opportunity to happen.

Instead, Cormier recaptured the light heavyweight title, and will now seemingly fight Lesnar next year if all goes according to plan for “DC.” Jones was asked today if he’s still open to a fight with the current WWE Champion down the road. “Bones” said he’s still very much interested in testing himself against “The Beast”:

“Yeah, I would like to fight Brock Lesnar still,” Jones said. “Absolutely. I think Brock Lesnar is one of the most entertaining guys, you know – people want to see him in the UFC, against entertaining guys. So, yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to the opportunity to still compete against Brock Lesnar.”

Who Will Lesnar Fight?

Interestingly enough, Lesnar won the WWE’s Universal Title yesterday in Saudi Arabia. It remains unclear what his status is with the UFC. However, he’s still being tested by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

As of this writing, the plan seems to remain for Lesnar vs. Cormier to happen in early 2019. But don’t expect a similar scene to July’s UFC 226 where Lesnar stormed the Octagon to talk some trash and shove Cormier. UFC President Dana White confirmed he wouldn’t be attending the title fight this time around:

“People keep asking me that. No, he’s not coming here. He’s not coming to the fight.”

Tonight’s (Sat. November 3, 2018) UFC 230 will be headlined by a heavyweight title bout.

Daniel Cormier will defend his UFC heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis. It’s a bout former NFL star-turned-mixed martial artist, Greg Hardy, will be keeping a close eye on. Despite not yet being in the UFC, Hardy took to Instagram to call out “The Black Beast”:

“Ok ok ok, it’s about to go down baby. Who do you guys have. Let’s argue lol.

“I want The Fat beast to win so I can go show him a run in with me is broken bones and blood not bruises for that strap lol.#peaceintheviolence #princeofwar a prince can dream can’t he.

“And that way DC can go get fed to @jonnybones and we can start talk n bout super fight”

Hardy is set to compete on UFC Fight Pass for Island Fights 51 on December 21st. If he wins his fight, he has a shot at being signed by the UFC. Hardy is likely taking aim at Lewis for “The Black Beast’s” past comments about him. Several years ago Hardy was charged with domestic violence, which has shadowed his accomplishments inside the cage.

Lewis, who has been vocal about his disdain for those who have abused women, recently said he’d like to knock out the “wife beater”:

“He’s a wife beater, I’d like to get in there with him,” Lewis said. “I like knocking wife beaters out. I’ll fight Greg Hardy. It’ll be like vice versa him beating on a woman. I’ll be beating him like he was a woman.

”I grew up watching my mom and my stepdad fight just about every single damn day. Fist fighting every day for stupid stuff. I don’t tolerate stuff like that at all.”

Israel Adesanya Vows To ‘Snatch’ UFC Title From Robert Whittaker

Israel Adesanya believes he can jump the line to get a title shot.

The post Israel Adesanya Vows To ‘Snatch’ UFC Title From Robert Whittaker appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Israel Adesanya vows to become a UFC champion sooner rather than later. And he wants to jump the line in order to do so.

He believes that he can beat Derek Brunson in a middleweight bout at UFC 230 then he can get a title shot. This bout will take place on the main card portion of the pay-per-view broadcast.

The rising prospect is looking to have a breakthrough performance in this fight to get the title shot. This means that co-headliners Chris Weidman and Ronaldo Souza, who think they’re in line, would have to take a back seat.

“Right now, we need another show in Auckland, New Zealand. I feel that’s the fight (against Whittaker),” Adesanya said to MMAJunkie. “One year, I skyrocketed up the ranks.”

Adesanya’s Confident

Thus, if the up-and-coming fighter can achieve victory at this big event then he could face the winner of the next middleweight title fight. Robert Whittaker and Kelvin Gastelum are slated to fight for the title in Australia in early 2019.

“Next year I’m going to snatch the belt off Robert in Spark Arena, Auckland, New Zealand. It’s going to be historic.”

Adesanya is extremely confident in his skills to jump the line that it’s classic in his eyes. He just hopes that Whittaker can retain his title against Gastelum.

“If Robert wins against Gastelum, that’s going to be the one where it’s like the Kiwis versus the Aussies. The all-black versus the wallaby. That’s sports rivalry. It’s classic. I can leapfrog them anytime.”

The UFC 230 pay-per-view event is set to take place tonight (Saturday, November 3, 2018), at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, New York City.

The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET. The preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET.
