Strawweight fighter Paige VanZant received some much-needed ‘good news’ regarding her healing arm earlier this week.
VanZant, 25, has been staying busy in her time away from the Octagon. Just last week, she joined the M-1 Global team to do commentary duties in the United States. And let us not forget about the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition that VanZant recently posed for.
“12 Gauge” has been sidelined with her second broken arm in as many fights. Although the road to recovery from such an injury is a long and arduous process for a fighter, VanZant has just received some promising news.
“I got really good news yesterday. My arm actually is healing the way it’s supposed to, I’m not having those healing issues this time,” VanZant said earlier this week. “It’s totally healing. I should be able to start training in three weeks.”
“In three weeks, I should be able train again so that means punching and hitting things.”
If VanZant does indeed get the clearance to resume training in three weeks, that would put her on a possible timetable for return in the summer. The timing would be right in that she could return in time for two of the biggest cards of the year.
“I’m going to talk to my managers and it depends on how quickly I can start hitting things. I would hope June or July,” VanZant revealed. “Of course, we’re going to talk to the UFC, my management team and my coaches but in my mind July sounds right.”
“12 Gauge” would be a welcome addition to either card. Hopefully, VanZant will be able to get back to full strength in time for the summer.
