Paulo Costa got past Yoel Romero at UFC 241, but the Brazilian was not happy with the way the Cuban fought. He believes the 42-year-old used dirty tactics in the fight.

What kind of tactics he used was simple. He says when Romero pointed away he thought it was due to his mouthguard being out. However, it was just a distraction.

“He’s a nice guy, but he’s dirty,” Costa said on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show. “In the first round, when I make a hook in his face, he went down then got up very quickly. I say man I will knock him out in the first round because he feel my punch, my first punch, and I started hunting him in the Octagon. And when I close to knock him out, he point on something, anywhere, I don’t know. Like look there Paulo, and I lose concentration, because he point something, maybe his mouth piece fall.

“And I’m not a dirty guy. I try to fight clean and when he point something, like maybe a mouthpiece down. I think man, maybe something happened. So I lose my concentration, and he punched my face. But he missed my face and hit my neck, and I lose my balance, and I fall, so this is one thing.”

That was not the only tactic Paulo Costa didn’t like. Instead, he says when he landed the groin strike that paused the fight, he hit his stomach. There, Romero stopped the fight potentially to catch his breath.

“The second thing, my knee not hit his balls,” Costa said. “My knee hit his stomach, and he said, ‘Oh, you hit my balls,’ and he jumped back, and the referee (said) stop, stop. I don’t know him deep, but he’s a nice guy, he looks like a nice guy, but his kind of fight is not clean.”

Regardless, Paulo Costa got the win over Yoel Romero and now has set himself up for a potential title shot.

Do you agree with Paulo Costa that Yoel Romero uses dirty tactics?

Conor McGregor has finally reacted to Nate Diaz’s winning return at UFC 241 this past weekend by posting a lengthy statement on Instagram.

Diaz returned to the Octagon with a dominant decision victory over Anthony Pettis. It was notably his first fight in nearly three years when he was last outpointed by McGregor at UFC 202.

Speaking after the win, Diaz surprised many by calling out Jorge Masvidal rather than McGregor for a trilogy fight. And on the three-year anniversary of their rematch, the Irishman paid tribute to the Stockton native.

“3 years to the day myself and this Mexican animal went to war,” McGregor wrote on Instagram. “Congrats on the win this weekend Nate, it was motivating to see it for my own comeback. I don’t blame you not mentioning me for the trilogy bout post fight, you know what I’m like when I get going. Vicious.

“I loved the round 3 style from round 1 that you implemented. It’s what I was hoping you would implement for this bout and was glad to see you do it. I’ll be prepared for it when we go again. If we go again. If not, respect always. A war for the ages. No bitch talk. Just real shit.”

It will certainly be interesting to see what’s next for McGregor. The former lightweight champion was last submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 last year. However, the option of a trilogy fight with Diaz is always there should he not get his rematch with Nurmagomedov.

Do you think we’ll ever see McGregor vs. Diaz III?

Bellator president Scott Coker believes his heavyweight champion in Ryan Bader is the best in the world and made sure to let everyone know following UFC 241.

Stipe Miocic regained the heavyweight title following his fourth-round TKO win over Daniel Cormier in the UFC 241 headliner this past weekend. In the process, the Cleveland native also reestablished his claim as being the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Miocic was already regarded as the greatest heavyweight champion of all time after breaking the record for title defenses (3). However, many believed Cormier could be recognized as the heavyweight GOAT if he registered two wins over Miocic.

However, that’s not the case now as many firmly believe that title belongs to Miocic. Except for Coker who sent out a cheeky tweet following the event:

@RyanBader is the best heavyweight fighter on the planet,” he tweeted.

There were previous talks of a cross-promotional super fight between Cormier and Bader, especially as they were slated to fight each other in the UFC. One wonders if that will continue with Miocic now reigning as the heavyweight champion.

Do you think Miocic or Bader is the best heavyweight in the world?
