Cody Garbrandt is back with a bang.

Riding a three-fight losing streak, the former bantamweight champion took on divisional veteran Raphael Assuncao in the UFC 250 co-main event and looked better than ever.

Displaying superior speed and utilizing leg kicks to good effect throughout the contest, Gabrandt dropped Assuncao in the second round. Just as the round was coming to an end, the pair came together and it ended with a right hand from “No Love” that turned Assuncao’s lights off in emphatic fashion.

Aljamain Sterling all but cemented his place as the next fighter in line for the bantamweight title.

Sterling took on Cory Sandhagen on the UFC 250 main card on Saturday in a fight many considered to be a title eliminator contest. And it was all “Funk Master” right from the get go as he was aggressive early on and ended up getting Sandhagen on the ground.

Although Sandhagen did well to battle a rear-naked choke attempt, Sterling was able to adjust and lock it in again as the former tapped before going to sleep.

Next up on the UFC 250 main card at the Apex facility is a pivotal bantamweight fight between Cory Sandhagen and Aljamain Sterling.

Round 1: Sterling comes out aggressive. Sandhagen attempts a body kick but it’s caught by Sterling who takes his back. Sterling attempts a rear naked choke and looks like he’s locked it in but Sandhagen manages to survive as he looks to get out of a bad position. However, Sterling adjusts and manages to lock it in again as Sandhagen taps before going to sleep. Huge performance from “Funk Master”!

Official result: Aljamain Sterling defeats Cory Sandhagen via rear-naked choke submission (R1, 1:28).
