UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling met up with Andrew and Tristan Tate ahead of his bout at UFC 280.
Sterling is set to defend his 135lb title next Saturday in Abu Dhabi in the co-main event of UFC 280 against T.J. Dillashaw. To get acclimatised to the heat and the time difference, athletes tend to go out a couple of weeks early and doing so also allows the fighters to enjoy the luxuries of Dubai.
‘Funk Master’ would post to his twitter him pictured with controversial internet sensation Andrew Tate and his more reserved but just as opinionated brother Tristan Tate.
“Top g’s never die!” Sterling tweeted. “Good chopping it up with you fellas.”
The Tate’s garnered worldwide attention earlier this year after their internet campaign saw their controversial videos reach millions of people. Both have come under heavy scrutiny due people deeming their language and beliefs to be misogynistic and their message, often aimed at young men, regarded as harmful.
The older and more infamous brother, Andrew, was banned from all major social media outlets including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.
Aljamain Sterling backlash
It wouldn’t surprise you that Sterling would catch some heat from fans, with many replying to him criticising him for supporting the Tate’s.
What do you think of Aljamain Sterling and the Tate’s hanging out?

Chael Sonnen believes Khabib Nurmagomedov remains the greatest lightweight the division has seen despite the recent excellence of Charles Oliveira.
Ahead of UFC 280, Chael Sonnen has shared his thoughts on just exactly who is the greatest lightweight to compete in the UFC. A victory for Charles Oliveira over Khabib’s protégé, Islam Makhachev, would certainly help him lay claim to being the best 155-pounder the promotion has ever seen.
As it stands, however, Chael Sonnen remains of the opinion that the aforementioned Nurmagomedov holds the number one spot in the overall lightweight division.
The former UFC contender says this simply comes down to the fact that Khabib was not once troubled in a matchup during his undefeated reign.
Discussing the matter on his YouTube channel, Sonnen emphasised the point that Oliveira was moments from defeat in all of his title matchups whilst he believes the same cannot be said for Khabib.
“Forget about the 61 seconds against Poirier, forget about the four minutes against Gaethje, you can back the tape up to Michael Chandler. Every single one of those fights have a single theme – which is Charles almost lost. That’s the difference.
“Whether Khabib was a little bit slower and a little bit more steady, he was never once in trouble. Those two never met up, it was the match-up that we did even discuss. When Khabib was here, I don’t even know how close Charles was, there was still massive talk just for time frame of getting Khabib in with Ferguson. So then Charles emerged and we go ‘my god how good is this guy’ and he was here at the same time as Khabib and that is relevant.
Chael Sonnen believes Charles Oliveira could overtake Khabib as the greatest lightweight
Despite listing Khabib at the top of the rankings, Chael Sonnen also mentioned that if Oliveira continues to build upon his recent success, he very well could overtake the undefeated Russian.
“How can we say Khabib is the absolute best if we have got the guy who is next in line, he was a guy who was ranked at six or seven or eight or whatever he was. So based on what have I just told you we know there is a belief that we put Khabib at one and Charles at two but we understand that Charles can pass Khabib.” (Transcribed by Mirror)
As it appears Oliveira is feeling very confident ahead of his title matchup going as far as saying that he will defeat Makhachev in the first round. If he is able to do so it would surely force Sonnen and others who agree with his sentiment to reconsider exactly who is the greatest lightweight to ever compete in the promotion.

A victory over current undisputed UFC bantamweight champion, Aljamain Sterling next weekend for former two-weight division champion, T.J. Dillashaw would land the Angels Camp native as the first three-time titleholder at bantamweight in the promotion. And according to him, would score him GOAT status at 135lbs as a result.
Scheduled to co-headline UFC 280 next weekend on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Dillashaw will compete for the undisputed bantamweight title against Uniondale native, Sterling – with the latter looking to retain his crown and secure his second championship knockback.
Last time out, Dillashaw headlined against common-opponent, Cory Sandhagen back in July of last year, defeating the Colorado native in a close, split decision victory.
Dillashaw returned from a two-year retroactive USADA suspension in his win against Sandhagen, after he tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO) following a January 2020 knockout loss to Henry Cejudo in his pursuit for flyweight gold.
T.J. Dillashaw plans to solidify his status as bantamweight GOAT
Along with past opponent, Dominick Cruz, Dillashaw is the only other two-time undisputed bantamweight champion in the history of the division. And according to the Duane Ludwig trainee, a win over Sterling would, in turn, solidify his claim as the greatest bantamweight of all time.
“When I’m champ again it’s going to be great,” T.J. Dillashaw told ESPN during a recent interview. “I never left. I never lost my belt in this weight class. Yeah, I was stripped, but I never actually physically lost it. People forget how dominant I was because I hadn’t been in there. I hadn’t been performing. I hold a lot of records in the bantamweight division and just because of the time off, they forget.”
“So I’m going to have to remind them all who the best is, who the best pound-for-pound is, and that 135 pound GOAT, I’m coming for it,” T.J. Dillashaw explained.
During his Octagon tenure, Dillashaw has defeated the likes of Renan Barao, Raphael Assuncao, John Lineker, Cody Garbrandt, and the aforenoted, Sandhagen.

Charles Oliveira believes he will once again become the UFC lightweight champion once UFC 280 is in the books.
‘Do Bronx’ will step back into the Octagon on October 22nd against No. 4 ranked contender Islam Makhachev as the two men headline an absolutely stacked card airing live from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Oliveira enters the bout as a +155 underdog versus Makhachev who walks in as the -180 favorite.
Despite what the oddsmakers believe, Charles Oliveira is walking into the lightweight title clash with a load of confidence and is ready to shock the world once again.
“I’m going to shock the world yet again… Well, opinions are subjective and some people believe that I would be a potential winner, he would be a potential winner,” Oliveira said in an interview with ESPN. “But I’m gonna show that my history, my background, the number of fights I’ve had, my contenders, these will come to show on that very night. In this sense, I’ll shock the world because people will change their opinion about this.”
Charles Oliveira is used to the underdog role
Charles Oliveira has not experienced defeat in more than four years. With 11 straight wins and the most submission in UFC history, it’s almost ludicrous to call ‘Do Bronx’ an underdog in any bout he walks into, but time and time again, that is exactly where the Brazilian submission specialist finds himself.
In his previous two outings, Oliveira was the underdog and yet emerged victorious with back-to-back submission victories. At UFC 269, ‘Do Bronx’ walked into a world title fight as the reigning champion and was listed as a +145 underdog per Best Fight Odds. Prior to that, Charles Oliveira entered his bout with fan favorite Tony Ferguson at UFC 256 as a +110 favorite.
The moral of the story is, when ‘Do Bronx’ is listed as an underdog is when he appears to perform the best. Of course, Oliveira has never faced a wrestler quite like Islam Makhachev.
