Adesanya, a former undisputed middleweight champion under the banner of the UFC, headlines UFC 287 next weekend against Sao Paulo knockout artist, Pereira in an immediate championship rematch.

Taking main event honors at the Miami, Florida event, Adesanya will look to snap a run of threen consecutive losses to the Brazilian over the course of their respective combat sports careers.

Featuring twice against Pereira during their respective kickboxing careers, Adesanya first dropped a dubious decision loss to the Brazilian, before then suffering a KO loss in their rematch.

Establishing an impressive lead on all three judge’s scorecards against Pereira back in November of last year, Adesanya was eventually stopped at the fence in the fifth round with a barrage of strikes – resulting in a TKO loss.

However, rewatching footage of his Madison Square Garden clash with the former duel-weight GLORY Kickboxing champion, Pereira, Adesanya claimed he was dealing with a peroneal nerve injury – inflicted by the former prior to his TKO blemish.

“The second one [leg kick] got me, I felt it, I felt like a shock,” Israel Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “That was the one that was like, ‘Ooh.’ With the nerve – then my legs started to give [in] right there, I was still fine.”

“I remember that, um, but yeah, I was taking it to him (Alex Pereira), beating him up, taking his legs,” Israel Adesanya continued. “His leg was compromised as well but mine just – he actually affected the movement by striking the nerve.” (Transcribed by Middleeasy)

Maintaining he likely has just a single opportunity remaining in order to hand Pereira a defeat, Adesanya claimed he wanted to take the Brazilian’s “head” before then moving on and fighting other opponents at the middleweight limit

Darren Till confident of UFC title win I know I can do it

Despite departing the UFC earlier this year following an eight-year stay in the promotion, former welterweight title challenger, Darren Till still remains confident of striking middleweight gold in the Octagon within the next two to three years, maintaining he can still win a championship under the organization’s banner.

Till, a former welterweight title challenger under the UFC banner and a former middleweight contender, ended his eight-year tenure with the Dana White-led promotion earlier this year, however, noted his intentions to return in the future, as he attempts to address a long-standing knee injury.

Fighting former undisputed middleweight champion, Robert Whittaker at a UFC event on ‘Fight Island’ back in July of 2020, Liverpool striker, Till suffered a knee injury, which has plagued him since, resulting in multiple withdrawals from scheduled fights.

Last featuring at UFC 282 back in December of last year, Till slumped to his third consecutive loss in a third round submission defeat to South African contender, Dricus du Plessis, suffering a rear-naked choke defeat to the surging contender.

Darren Till remains confident of UFC title success

Maintaining his goal to achieve title success under the banner of the UFC in an eventual promotional return, Till insists he knows he can strike middleweight gold despite suffering three losses in four fights at 185lbs.

“100 percent, I want the middleweight belt,” Darren Till told Neue Online Casinos. “My aspirations haven’t changed in that sense. Money comes and money goes, but I’ve still got that mindset that I’m only 30. Most of the UFC champions are 34 or 35 – so I know I can do it. I just need to be directed in the right way and make sure my body is fit and healthy and my mind is too.”

“Regardless of how much money I make outside the UFC, ultimately my goal is to be back having those big fights in the UFC two to three years,” Darren Till explained. (Transcribed by MMA Mania)

In his most recent competitive victory, Team Kaobon staple, Till managed to hand former interim middleweight title challenger, Kelvin Gastelum a split decision loss in the co-main event of UFC 244 back in November 2019.

Gilbert Burns predicts finish of Colby Covington that fight has to happen UFC

Ahead of his UFC 287 co-headlining return next weekend against soon-to-be common-foe, Jorge Masvidal, one-time welterweight title challenger, Gilbert Burns claims that no matter where a potential future fight with former interim gold holder, Colby Covington lands, he’s confident of finishing the Clovis native.

Burns, the current #5 ranked welterweight contender, most recently featured on the main card of UFC 283 back in January in his native Brazil, stopping the streak of division record holder, Neil Magny – submitting the veteran with a first round arm-triangle choke in Rio de Janeiro

Returning to the Octagon next weekend in Miami, Florida – Burns, a resident of the ‘Sunshine State’ is likely entering enemy-territory in his pivotal co-main event slot against hometown favorite, Masvidal, as the duo attempt to leapfrog the aforenoted, Covington into the welterweight title picture.

Gilbert Burns welcomes potential fight with Colby Covington in the future

Welcoming the possibility of fighting the #2 ranked challenger, Covington before they hang up their respective gloves, Burns claimed that he would be confident of either knocking out or submitting the former.

“I hope, I hope because I’ve been calling this guy (Colby Covington) out forever,” Gilbert Burns told MMA Junkie during a recent interview. “He’s been smart. He sits out and fights Tyron Woodley and then – relax. And then he fights for the title again. He picks another guy that’s not in his prime coming from another loss, (Jorge) Masvidal. Then he wins and gets another title shot. He’s been smart. I hope that one day we can get this [fight] done.”

“I believe I can finish Colby,” Gilbert Burns continued. “I’m a dangerous striker, and if he takes me down, thank you. So, I hope that fight happens. Now, I’m 100 percent focused on Masvidal, but that fight [with Covington] is going to happen, I believe.”

Calling a return to the Octagon at UFC 290 during International Fight Week in July, Covington, who has predicted a beating “from pillar to post” for undisputed welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, expects to fight the Birmingham native next.

Israel Adesanya last chance Alex Pereira UFC 287 title rematch

Former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya has claimed he is facing his final opportunity to defeat Alex Pereira next weekend at UFC 287 in Miami, Florida – given his history against the Brazilian berserker.

Adesanya, a former undisputed middleweight titleholder under the UFC banner, most recently headlined UFC 281 back in November of last year at Madison Square Garden against the above-mentioned, Pereira, dropping his title in an eventual fifth round standing TKO loss.

The defeat came as City Kickboxing staple, Adesanya’s first at the middleweight limit in his professional mixed martial arts career.

Seeing his title reign come to a shocking end, the Nigerian-Kiwi had successfully defended his crown against Yoel Romero, Paulo Costa, Marvin Vettori, Robert Whittaker, and prior to his defeat to Pereira, Jared Cannonier during International Fight Week in July of last year.

Attempting to sway the tide following three separate combat sports defeats to former duel-weight GLORY Kickboxing champion, Pereira, Adesanya admitted that it was most likely make or break next weekend in the ‘Sunshine State’ for him against the Sao Paulo phenom.

“I’m hunting, and I mean that in every sense of the word,” Israel Adesanya said on his YouTube channel. “The mindset is different, definitely. Even, Eugene (Bareman) and I are on the same page. The mindset is definitely different.”

“I like it because it puts it all on me, and it’s kind of poetic in a way,” Israel Adesanya explained. “ One life: Roll the dice. This is my last shot, and I’m going to give to it all I’ve got in every sense of the word.”

Israel Adesanya Alex Pereira knows I can beat him at UFC 287 we'll see on fight night

Israel Adesanya believes he will finally score a win over long-time rival Alex Pereira.

That is something ‘The Last Stylebender’ has failed to do on three separate occasions across two different sports. Nevertheless, the former middleweight champion is convinced that the fourth time will be the charm come April 8 when he steps inside the Octagon one more time with the towering Brazilian kickboxer.

To get fans hyped up for their highly anticipated rematch, the promotion has released a trailer for UFC 287 Countdown.

Israel Adesanya Knows This is His Last Chance to Beat Alex Pereira

Despite coming up short on three prior occasions, Israel Adesanya is confident that he will finally solve the puzzle that is Alex Pereira. The pair previously matched up under the GLORY Kickboxing banner in 2016 and 2017 with Pereira earning victories in each outing. ‘Poatan’ scored a particularly nasty knockout of Adesanya in their second meeting. The image of ‘Stylebender’ being fed oxygen following the defeat was heavily used while marketing their first scrap inside the Octagon at UFC 281 last year.

The stakes have never been higher for Israel Adesanya. Not only will he be seeking that ever-elusive win over his own personal boogeyman, but it will likely be his last chance to do so. Add in the drama of a UFC title hanging in the balance and you have a truly can’t-miss moment in combat sports history.

“I like it cause it puts it all on me,” Adesanya said in recently released training footage. “It’s kind of poetic in a way. Like I said, one life. Roll the dice. It’s my last shot. I’m going to give it all I’ve got in every sense of the word.”
