Mackenzie Dern UFC 295 fight against Jessica Andrade in November

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace, Mackenzie Dern has booked her return to the Octagon at UFC 295 later this year, drawing former undisputed strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade in November at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Dern, the current number eight ranked strawweight contender, has been sidelined from active competition since headlining UFC Vegas 73 back in May, landing a decision win over veteran common-foe, Angela Hill in a headlining honors. The outing earned both Dern and Hill post-event Fight of the Night honors.

As for Andrade, the Brazilian former titleholder will make her whopping fifth Octagon walk of the year in her return at UFC 295 in November, attempting to snap a run of three consecutive loss, which was recently bookended by a guillotine choke submission loss to Tatiana Suarez at UFC Fight Night Nashville earlier this month.

A former undisputed strawweight champion, Andrade landed divisional spoils with a stunning slam KO win over former two-time titleholder, Rose Namajunas back in 2019 in her native Brazil.

UFC 295 takes place on November 11. from Madison Square Garden in New York City, with an undisputed heavyweight title fight between champion, Jon Jones, and former division gold holder, Stipe Miocic slated to take headlining honors.

Jon Anik believes Jon Jones booted Colby Covington from UFC 295 I take his word

UFC play-by-play lead, Jon Anik claims that he believes the claims from former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, that incumbent heavyweight champion and arch-rival, Jon Jones, vetoed his planned inclusion at UFC 295 in November, in a welterweight title fight with Leon Edwards.

Covington, the current number two ranked welterweight contender, has been sidelined from the Octagon since March of last year, defeating arch-rival, the now-retired, Jorge Masvidal in a heated grudge match over the course of five rounds.

And despite his continued absence from the Octagon and period of inactivity, Covington has been pegged to challenge current welterweight titleholder, Edwards for undisputed gold in his return – which was initially planned for Madison Square Garden in November at UFC 295.

However, according to outspoken Clovis native, Covington, he has been forced to rearrange a planned fight with Edwards, claiming former friend turned bitter enemy, Jones – whom headlines the pay-per-view card against Stipe Miocic, asked for his ejection from the card.

Jon Anik tends to side with claims made by Colby Covington

As far as the above-mentioned, Anik is concerned, there could very be some credence to claims from Covington – who also suggested the welterweight bout may be pushed to UFC 296 in December.

“Colby Covington suggested that Jon Jones doesn’t want to be on the same card with Colby Covington, so perhaps that’s the hold up,” Anik told The Schmo during a recent interview ahead of UFC 292. “There have bene rumblings that they [the UFC] want to do Leon Edwards and Colby Covington in Madison Square Garden and now this actually makes some semblance of sense.”

“Will they pivot to Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards at Madison Square Garden? I don’t necessarily think they would do that,” Anik continued. “I think it’s more likely that they would delay Leon and Colby until December, but we’ll see, man. I really do take Colby at his word that maybe Jon Jones just doesn’t want him anywhere near that press conference in November at Madison Square Garden. But I do believe before the year’s out, we need a welterweight championship fight.”

Former UFC interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington, claims that Jon Jones refuses to share the upcoming UFC 295 card in New York.

During his time with the promotion, it’s safe to say that Covington has made some enemies. From his trash talk and social media outlets, the 35-year-old has taken aim at countless other fighter, media members, managers and even UFC President, Dana white.

One person who has taken a particular disliking of Covington is reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Jones. the pair were once roommates at one point during their time wrestling at Iowa Central Community College.

Covington has been a vocal critic of Jones and also made accusations about the 36-year-old during their time in further education. Covington levied claims that Jones had ‘he (Jones) just started doing steroids’ and that ‘he’d be throwing people through windows’ when Jones would lose his temper.

Jones would brush these claims of by labelling Covington a ‘habitual liar’.

Jon Jones allegedly blocks Colby Covington from UFC 295

Covington is slated to take on Leon Edwards for the 170lb title, but months after the UFC announced that this was the matchup they were targeting – no date has been set.

Talking to Michael Bisping, Covington claimed that Jones blocked him form being on the UFC 295 card in New York, one of the few remaining PPV cards of the year that the bout could realistically be on.

“A little birdie told me, Michael [Bisping], that he (Jones) went backstage with the suits and the big dogs of the UFC and said, hey, he refuses to share a card with me,” Covington said. “So, they’re gonna give him what he wants. They don’t want to ruin their New York show, and they’re still hoping he shows up. But they need a backup plan. He’s not reliable. I’m the ultimate company man.” (H/T MMAFighting)

Covington continued, claiming that he knew things abut Jones’ that he probably would not want revealed.

“Is Jon Jones going to be willing to share a card with his former college roommate who knows all his dirty secrets, all the dirty skeletons in his closet. I bet that he’s going over to the UFC right now and he’s telling them, ‘Yo, I’m not sharing a card with Colby. I will refuse to fight here,” Covington said.

Colby Covington’s latest absurd accusation against UFC heavyweight Jon Jones was so outlandish that the two-time title challenger nearly broke character delivering it.

Spending a chunk of his career as a middling welterweight with a heap of talent and little charisma, Colby Covington seemingly flipped the switch and became one of the promotion’s more polarizing characters thanks to the over-the-top MAGA-loving douchebag persona that he has adopted. Recently, ‘Chaos’ was firing on all cylinders while speaking with Michael Bisping on the former middleweight champion’s YouTube channel.

During their conversation, Colby Covington once again went after Jon Jones, the man he is rumored the share the spotlight with come November 11 when the promotion returns to Madison Square Garden for its 30th-anniversary spectacular, UFC 295. Chaos’ is rumored to compete against Leon Edwards for the welterweight title in the evening’s co-main event while Jon Jones is slated to defend the UFC heavyweight championship against Stipe Miocic in the headliner. But Covington is not convinced that Jones will allow the pair to share a spotlight given the animosity between the two, much of it stemming from their time as college roommates.

“Let’s be honest. Let’s talk about the facts, Michael. Is Jon Jones going to be willing to share a card with his former college roommate who knows all his dirty secrets? All the skeletons that are in his closet,” Covington said. “I bet that he’s going over to the UFC right now and telling them, ‘Yo, I’m not sharing a card with Colby. I will refuse to fight here.’”

Colby Covington took things a step further, suggesting that Jon Jones was on the infamous ‘Epstein Island’ client list, amongst other insane accusations that even he struggled to say without laughing.

“The only way I see that fighting happening… We know Jon’s unpredictable,” Covington added. We know he might go sniff some white girls, kinda like Joe Biden. He’s not to be relied on. He might get pulled off the card and we might have to come save the day and be the main event.

“The real question that we need to be asking is honestly, was Jon Jones on the client list of Epstein Island? Honestly, there’s no way to confirm he was on it, but there’s no way to confirm he wasn’t on it. I just want to know the truth. Was Jon Jones on Epstein Island?”

For those that are unfamiliar, Little Saint James in the U.S. Virgin Islands was an island owned and operated by known sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein. Allegedly, the island was used as a haven for some of the world’s most powerful figures to sexually assault underage individuals. Prior to his death, Epstein was charged with sex trafficking and conspiracy to traffic minors for sex, but no celebrities or high-ranking officials have been formally tied to the supposed ‘Island of Sin.’

Colby Covington Believes the Fans Deserve to See Jon Jones and Himself on the Same Night

Though he may not have the highest opinion of Jon Jones, Colby Covington believes it would be a treat for fans to see the two compete on the same night. It would also give ‘Chaos’ the chance to address ‘Bones’ directly regarding some of the “skeletons in his closet.”

“I think it would be electric and I think the fans deserve to see that,” Covington said. “That’s who we fight for. It’s not about the judges. It’s not about the ref. It’s about the fans. It’s about putting on the biggest and most electric fight for the fans. The people want to see us on the press conference stage. Everybody knows I’ve got questions to ask Jon. Michael, you probably didn’t know that, but I know this from being roommates with him, you should ask him about the time he hit someone with a baseball bat.

“It’s facts. I know all the skeletons in his closet and for these reasons, Jon Jones does not want to be painted in a bad light so he’s not going to share a card with me. I think the only way we get Madison Square Garden is if we’re headlining it because Jon Jones has to pull out again because he’s sniffing some white girls like Joe Biden.”

Needless to say, a press conference attended by both Jon Jones and Colby Covington would be nothing short of chaotic. Pun not intended.

Daniel Cormier claims Jon Jones likely doesn't deserve an ESPY award after UFC return

Undisputed heavyweight champion and pound-for-pound kingpin, Jon Jones has opened, and still currently remains a significant betting favorite to defeat former two-time titleholder, Stipe Miocic in the pair’s championship offing at UFC 295 in November at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Jones, a former two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion, is currently scheduled to headline UFC 295 on November 11. from Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, taking on the returning Ohio native, Miocic in ‘The Big Apple’.

Last time out, the Endicott native managed to strike vacant heavyweight gold in his divisional bow at UFC 285 back in March, submitting former interim champion, Ciryl Gane with a stunning first round guillotine choke.

The victory came as Jon Jones’ first since 2020 – having spent over three years away from action amid negotiation woes with the organization.

As for Miocic, the Euclid veteran has been sidelined himself since 2021, where he dropped the title to former undisputed heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou in the pair’s rematch, with the Batié native springing with a shocking second round KO in the main event of UFC 260.

Jon Jones remains betting favorite to defeat Stipe Miocic at UFC 295

And after initially opening as a massive betting favorite to defeat Miocic at UFC 295 in November, Jon Jones has drifted as high as a -340 betting favorite to beat the former, with the challenger currently sat as a +320 betting underdog at the time of publication.

A host of websites and other physical bookies are offering UFC betting odds on a whole host of fights to boot – including Jones’ incoming heavyweight title defense against Miocic at UFC 295 in November, to willing punters and bettors.

Prior to his championship win in a heavyweight divisional bow at UFC 285 back in March, Jones had turned in a very close, unanimous decision win over Dominick Reyes in Texas back in 2020, narrowly emerging from ‘The Lone Star State’ with his championship in tow after a hard-fougth five round showing.

The successful title defense followed off the back of another close split judging win over recent PFL acquisition, Thiago Santos in July of the previous annum, as Jones continued to defend his light heavyweight crown, following another decision win over the veteran, Anthony Smith.

Himself a two-time undisputed heavyweight gold holder during his lengthy tenure with the UFC, Miocic has faced a former two-weight champion and common-foe of Jones during his stint with the promotion in the form of Daniel Cormier, twice defeating the Louisiana native with a knockout and decision win, respectively.

Over the course of his tenure with the promotion, Miocic has defeated the who’s who of heavyweight competition, including current KSW champion, Phil De Fries, as well as Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga, Mark Hunt, Andrei Arlovski, Fabricio Werdum, Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, Francis Ngannou, and the aforenoted, Cormier.

Jon Jones, as mentioned a prior light heavyweight titleholder, still holds the record as the youngest champion in Octagon antiquity back in 2011, defeating Brazilian icon, Shogun Rua at just 23 years of age to scoop undisputed light heavyweight spoils.

Colby Covington picked to beat Leon Edwards at UFC 295 by Rafael dos Anjos 60 percent chance

Former undisputed lightweight champion, Rafael dos Anjos has picked former interim welterweight champion and common-foe, Colby Covington – to defeat another former opponent, current undisputed welterweight gold holder, Leon Edwards, in an expected UfC 295 title fight.

dos Anjos, a former undisputed lightweight champion, has been sidelined since he featured on the main card of UFC Orlando back in December, submitting Bryan Barberena with a second round neck crank in Florida.

The Niteroi native is slated to headline UFC Vegas 78 this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada – taking on fellow Brazilian contender, Vicente Luque in a main event bout at the UFC Apex facility.

Sharing the Octagon with both Clovis native, Covington, and Birmingham technician, Edwards during his initial stint at the welterweight limit, dos Anjos suffered a decision loss to both – the first of which in an interim welterweight title fight.

Rafael dos Anjos backs Colby Covington to beat Leon Edwards in expected UFC title fight

And with the knowledge of sharing 10 rounds against both Covington and Edwards, Brazilian veteran, dos Anjos has predicted the former wins welterweight gold, in an expected UFC 295 title fight in November at Madison Square Garden.

“It’s a very tough matchup,” Rafael dos Anjos said of a bout between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards during his availability with assembled media ahead of UFC Vegas 78. “I would say, 60-40. Sixty per cent chance for Colby Covington winning this fight. I give Colby a slight advantage.”

“His wrestling skills, and he’s got a pretty good standup, too,” Rafael dos Anjos explained. “But I think he’s going to mix it up more with the takedowns than (Kamaru) Usman did, and he’s going to have a better chance than Leon Edwards.”

Sidelined since March of last year, MMA Masters trainee, Covington most recently returned to the winner’s enclosure with a unanimous decision win over former welterweight title challenger and former training partner, Jorge Masvidal in the pair’s long-awaited grudge match.
