When asked about Rafael Dos Anjos’ comments towards him: Paddy Pimblett did not hesitate when it came time to clap back.

Now 5-0 in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett is like a comet on his way to superstardom. People seemingly either love or hate the man, and in an industry where you’d prefer people to feel one way or the other: he is shining.

At UFC 296 he defeated his biggest name yet in Tony Ferguson. Sure, the fight wasn’t as exciting as some may have hoped. Pimblett didn’t land himself a finish, or fight of the night. But, he smothered a man who was once the boogeyman of his division. Pimblett defeated Ferguson via decision, and although the fight had its moments: it’ll ultimately go down as a lackluster and safe victory.

While fans, media, and fellow fighters alike shared their opinion on the battle: the one name that seemed to truly resonate with Paddy Pimblett was that of Rafael Dos Anjos’. When asked about his thoughts on RDA’s comments about his fight, ‘The Baddy’ did not hold back when it came time to share true thoughts on what RDA had said.

Paddy Pimblett flames Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC 296 Press Conference

At the post-fight press conference, Paddy Pimblett was asked to share his thoughts on a callout by UFC legend Rafael Dos Anjos. The reporter explained how RDA had said he could defeat Pimblett without a training camp, and Pimblett said that he would be interested in that fight.

RDA has been fighting at welterweight, and although Pimblett pointed that out, he still chose to flame his would-be rival. “Yeah (I’d be interested in fighting him),” Paddy Pimblett said. “He’s another legend, former champ, just like Tony (Ferguson). RDA is very good.”

After a brief pause to confirm with reporters that RDA is planning on staying at welterweight and allegedly is fighting Mateusz Gamrot next, Pimblett sneered and responded: “What the f*** is he mentioning me for, then? Stupid bastard.”

Reporters from the press conference could be heard breaking out in laughter as Paddy Pimblett continued to roast RDA. “Focus on who you’ve got to fight… But yeah, everybody’s gonna mention me, aren’t they? And, it’s just cuz of like, the little thing around me name and the fact that I’ve got so many followers. That’s what it is, but, as I say, I wouldn’t disrespect RDA. He’s a former champ, one of the legends of the sport. But, he’s another one that’s getting a bit old now. And, if he wants me to take him out, I will.”

Bryce Mitchell is blaming a bad game plan for the brutal knockout loss that he suffered at UFC 296 against Josh Emmett.

According to ‘Thug Nasty’ improper planning was the reason that he looked so ‘timid’ and eventually got knocked out during his fight with Josh Emmett. The knockout was a particularly violent one, and left Mitchell convulsing uncontrollably, battling what appeared to be a seizure.

Fans, commentators, and seemingly the entire world were concerned for the young UFC star. 4-1 in his last five, few would have expected such an outcome in that fight. Mitchell was the betting favorite leading into the bout, despite coming in on short notice. People expected him to utilize his smothering grappling, and this was aided by the fact that Emmett had been preparing for a striker before Mitchell (a grappler) stepped up on short notice.

Bryce Mitchell later took to social media and addressed the fans to let them know he was alright, and also spoke about his game plan leading into the matchup.

Bryce Mitchell releases statement on Instagram after he suffers one of the most brutal knockouts of the year

“Hey, I wanted to let everybody know that I’m ok,” Bryce Mitchell began, speaking on Instagram. “I wanted to thank y’all so much for watching and I’ve just been so blessed this weekend. I cannot complain about anything.”

“Really, where I messed up,” Mitchell continued. “Poor strategy. So, my strategy was to stick to the jab, make my reads, and work my feet. Kinda sit on the outside. But, that put me to where I’m not putting that forward pressure that I really like to put (on my opponents). It also made me look like, timid, ya know. And, that’s not how I fight.”

“I fight very aggressively,” Bryce Mitchell continued, looking very disgusted with the reality he was speaking about. “So, I encourage anybody that’s got a fight in their life, not just a fistfight, be aggressive… Just attack it, because at least if you go down, you’re gonna know that you fought and you went head-on towards it… Just a bad strategy by me tonight. And, uh gosh. Josh hits hard!”

Mitchell would continue for a short time longer, giving praise to his adversary. The video surely is bittersweet to fans. Watching such a devastating knockout occur is never a great thing, but at least Bryce Mitchell wasn’t seriously injured after that one.

What do you personally think about the strategy Bryce Mitchell employed against Josh Emmett?

Shavkat Rakhmonov reveals 'Very serious injury' suffered ahead of Stephen Thompson fight, almost exited UFC 296

Shavkat Rakhmonov entered the cage at UFC 296 with a pre-existing injury, and it almost caused him to pull out of the fight with Stephen Thompson entirely.

The now 18-0 Rakhmonov continued his reign of domination this Saturday at UFC 296, but according to the young superstar: he almost pulled out of the fight. At the UFC 296 post-fight press conference, Rakhmonov himself via translator admitted to coming into the fight with a serious injury. He explained that he had injured his ankle, and it was a “very serious” injury that was bad enough to have him seriously considering withdrawing from the fight.

Instead of taking the safe route, and withdrawing: Shavkat Rakhmonov told the world how he wanted to roll the dice, and “take a gamble”.

Shavkat Rakhmonov gambles his streak, becoming the first to ever submit Stephen Thompson

“I had a very serious injury and I was even close to pulling out from the fight, but I decided to risk it all,” Shavkat Rakhmonov said via a translator on the UFC post-fight show, “And that’s why I didn’t kick it with my legs, just used my knees. But thank God, I got the victory.” (H/T MMA Fighting)

Now 18-0, and the first man to ever submit Stephen Thompson in his 13-year-long career: the sky is the limit for the ‘Nomad’. Doubtlessly looking to continue his climb, a top-ranked opponent is seemingly all that makes sense for the young superstar.

“Hopefully next time, with God’s willing, I’m going to be 100 percent. But it doesn’t matter,” Shavkat Rakhmonov said. “Whatever injury (I have), you know I’m going to fight to my last blood, until the last sip of blood, because I have to get a win.”
