Movsar Evloev Outworks Aljamain Sterling to Earn Unanimous Decision Victory - UFC 310 Highlights

Movsar Evloev earned a big win over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 310, outworking the ex-champion and walking away with a unanimous decision victory.

Sterling looked sharp on his feet to start the fight, but before long, the ‘Funk Master’ secured a takedown with tons of time on the clock. Working against the fence, Sterling transitioned to Evloev’s back. With less than a minute to go, Evloev muscled his back up and managed to take Sterling’s back during the ensuing scramble.

Things picked up right where they left off in the first with ‘Aljo’ level-changing right out of the gate and securing a slick takedown in the opening seconds. Evloev scrambled his way out of Sterling’s grasp and slid into side control before taking the ex-champion’s back. Sterling got back to his feet but ended up eating a big left from Evloev before being sent back to the mat.

Sterling once again worked his way out of the precarious position but was unable to secure another takedown before the second-round horn sounded.

Sterling landed another early takedown to open the third and maintained control for the majority of the round. However, Evloev Granby rolled his way out of Sterling’s grip and secured top control with two minutes to go in the fight.

Sterling did everything he could to scramble and buck Evloev off him, but the Russian managed to keep his dominant position through the end of the fight.

After the matchup was postponed on fight day at UFC 309 last month, Eryk Anders was able to score a win over former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman to close out the early preliminary portion of UFC 310.

Anders got off to a strong start with his striking to start the opening round. After a brief timeout due to an illegal knee from “Ya Boi,” however, Weidman managed to score a knockdown and took control of the rest of the frame.

But in the second stanza, Anders managed to outwork the former champ in his specialty area — grappling. The 37-year-old controlled the pace on top and delivered ground-and-pound that, while not powerful and ruthless, slowly drowned and overwhelmed Weidman over the course of the round before the fight was stopped in the closing seconds.

The ex-middleweight kingpin has now lost two of three fights since returning last year from the devastating leg injury he suffered at UFC 261 in 2021.

Anders, meanwhile, has now won three of his last four fights.

Chris Weidman vs. Eryk Anders - UFC 310 Highlights

Eryk Anders pounded out the biggest win of his career at UFC 310 on Saturday night.

Just before the two-minute mark of the opening round, Anders caught a kick from Weidman and caught the former champion with a head kick. Clearly compromised, Weidman attempted to evade leading Anders to shoot for a takedown. As Weidman attempted to defend with one knee on the mat, Anders unleashed a knee that caught Weidman in the head. Fortunately, Weidman appeared to be okay and the fight continued moments later.

Seconds into the resumed scrap, Weidman caught Anders with a left hook that sat ‘Ya Boi’ down. With a little bit of blood flowing from his right eye, Anders looked to ride out the remainder of the round on his back and keep Weidman from doing any more damage.

The second round was a completely different story with Anders securing an early takedown on Weidman and pummeling the future Hall of Famer with a slew of ground-and-pound strikes. Anders switches to some elbows as Weidman does everything he can to defend and block the shots.

After allowing Weidman to take a beating for two and a half minutes, referee Mark Smith finally sees enough and brings a stop to the contest with 10 seconds left in the second stanza.

Clay Guida broke an unfortunate UFC record in his first and final Octagon outing of 2024.

The 43-year-old made his debut with the promotion all the way back in 2006 and has gone on to rack up 37 appearances, the most recent of which came against Chase Hooper on Saturday night at UFC 310.

The last pay-per-view card of the year got off to a strong start with back-to-back first round finishes to kick off what should be a great night of action at the T-Mobile Arena.

In Guida’s first-round loss to Chase Hooper in the second fight of the night at UFC 310, there were several excellent grappling exchanges between them in the opening few minutes. But after the younger lightweight was able to take his opponent’s back, he switched to a gruesome armbar and quickly secured the tap.

Hooper previously submitted Guida with a calf slicer two years ago in a Fury Pro Grappling contest.

In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, “The Dream” gave credit to Mikey Musumeci, who recently made his UFC Fight Pass Invitational debut.

As pointed out by MMA Junkie’s Mike Bohn on X, this third consecutive loss in his career sees Guida record one more defeat than former featherweight powerhouse Jeremy Stephens and heavyweight staple Andrei Arlovski, leaving him top of the pile for most losses.

“The Carpenter” has already got his name listed in the UFC’s history books, but he probably won’t be too pleased about this particular statistic…

Chase Hooper scored his fourth straight win at UFC 310, dominating Octagon icon Clay Guida and earning a first-round submission victory.

Hooper put his improved striking on display early, tagging Guida with a solid left hand and unleashing some high kicks. Before long, Hooper shot in for a takedown and got Guida on his back. Guida scrambled and got back up only to get thrown back to the canvas seconds later.

Hooper quickly took Guida’s back and got his hooks in before transitioning to an arm bar. Guida escaped, but couldn’t keep Hooper off his back and ended up right back in the armbar. This time there was no escape as Hooper locked in the hold forcing ‘The Carpenter’ to tap out.

Some say Kennedy Nzechukwu has looked like a new man up at heavyweight, and that may have been evident with his victory over ?ukasz Brzeski that kicked off UFC 310.

Nzechukwu’s striking was on display at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena, where he landed speedy, crisp, and powerful strikes over the course of the first round.

Then, the Nigerian fighter put his opponent away in sudden fashion with a right hook with mere seconds left to go in the opening frame.

Nzechuwku Moves To 2-0 At Heavyweight With Another First-Round Finish At UFC 310

After a mixed bag of results at light heavyweight, Nzechukwu made his heavyweight debut less than two months ago at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, needing just one round to put away Chris Barnett.

“African Savage” was a short-notice fill-in for this fight following an injury to Tallison Teixeira.

Brzeski, meanwhile, is 1-5 since entering the UFC off a 2021 appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series.
