Manon Fiorot dominates Erin Blanchfield in lackluster flyweight main event - UFC Atlantic City Highlights

Manon Fiorot kept her ‘O’ inside the Octagon intact with a decisive unanimous decision victory over rising contender Erin Blanchfield in the UFC Atlantic City headliner.

Fiorot found herself in a bit of trouble in the opening round as she went for an early takedown and ended up in a tight guillotine attempt. Despite Blanchfield’s best effort to squeeze out an early win, ‘The Beast’ was able to fight her way out of danger. From there, it was all Fiorot as her distance management stifled much of Blanchfield’s offense throughout the five-round affair.

Blanchfield attempted to pick up the pace in the fourth and even landed a big head kick in the fifth, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to secure a win over the No. 3 ranked contender.

Joaquin Buckley made it three-in-a-row at UFC Atlantic City, pummeling No. 11 ranked contender Vicente Luque en route to a second-round TKO.

Looking to finally break into the welterweight top 15, ‘New Mansa’ came out firing on all cylinders, looking to land a one-hitter-quitter on his Brazilian opposition. The striking exchanges were fairly even throughout the first five minutes, but Buckley began to pull away in the second with his signature power.

Looking to close the distance, Luque moved in, but instead of attempting to take Buckley to the mat, he pulled guard, dragging Buckley on top of him. Leaving his guard open, Luque could do nothing, but cover up as the St. Louis native unleashed an onslaught of strikes on the mat. The referee gave Luque every opportunity to improve his position. Failing to do so, the bout was stopped just past the halfway point of the round.

Official Result: Joaquin Buckley def. Vicente Luque via TKO (ground and pound) at 3:17 or Round 2.

With the decisive victory over Vicente Luque, Buckley should have a number next to his name come Monday morning.

Former undisputed middleweight champion, Chris Weidman has turned in his first victory in over four years tonight on the main card of UFC Atlantic City — turning in a unanimous decision win over Brazilian contender, Bruno Silva in an egregious stoppage — after landing a series of eye pokes during the finishing sequence.

Weidman, a former undisputed middleweight champion, made his return to the Octagon following a catastrophic leg fracture back in August of last year, suffering a decision loss to Brad Tavares after his brutal injury setback suffered in 2021.

And tonight, snapping his two-fight losing run, Chris Weidman started well against Silva in the opening round, fighting aggressively before attempting to land multiple takedowns in the final goings of the frame.

In the second round, forcing a stoppage in the action, Baldwin native, Chris Weidman landed an inadvertent eye poke on Silva, the first of two in that frame.

And midway through the third and final round, apparently scoring a TKO over Silva, a replay showed the former’s protests of yet another inadvertent eye poke were warranted — with the Serra-Longo MMA staple appearing to gouge the eyes of Silva with a pair of left and right fingers.

Awaiting the official confirmation of his victory, Weidman was first awarded with a TKO win over Silva, before play-by-play lead, Brendan Fitzgerald revealed a post-fight discussion between the athletic commission officials seen the resulted overturned to a unanimous decision win, following the initial stoppage, with the bout scored up until that fight in favor of Weidman.

Nursulton Ruziboev picks up controversial First-Round KO against Sedriques Dumas - UFC Atlantic City

Nursulton Ruziboev picked up the 12th knockout of his mixed martial arts career at UFC Atlantic City, dispatching Sedriques Dumas in the first round of their main card clash.

Coming off a stellar 77-second knockout of Brunno Ferreira in his Octagon debut, Ruziboev was in complete control against Dumas, landing some heavy counter-right hands from the get-go. Following a striking exchange just past the three-minute mark of the fight, Dumas indicated that he was poked in the eye and attempted to get the attention of the referee.

It was then that Ruziboez moved in and uncorked an uppercut that sent Dumas crashing to the canvas near the cage wall. Ruziboev swarmed his opponent and dropped a series of bombs. With Dumas unable to do anything but cover-up, the referee stepped in and called for the stoppage.
