Nate Landwehr storms back, scores epic First-Round knockout of Jamall Emmers - UFC Atlantic City Highlights

Nate Landwehr scored his fifth career win inside the Octagon, putting away the always-game Jamall Emmers in spectacular fashion at the UFC Atlantic City on Saturday night.

Going into the bout winning three of his last four, ‘The Train’ looked to be in a bit of trouble in the early going as Emmers kept his distance and proceeded to piece up Landwehr for much of the opening round. With blood streaming from the left side of his forehead, Landwehr continued working to close the distance and landed a perfectly placed uppercut with 22 seconds left in the first.

With Emmers clearly compromised, Landwehr poured it on and sent Emmers crashing to the canvas. From there, ‘The Train’ only needed to unleash a couple of hammer firsts before referee Keith Peterson had seen enough.

Dominick Reyes reveals blood clots stopped UFC return I'm lucky to be alive right now

Former undisputed light heavyweight title challenger, Dominick Reyes has revealed a planned return to the Octagon at UFC Atlantic City against the surging, Carlos Ulberg at the end of March, was shelved as he deals with a series of life-threatening blood clots.

Reyes, a two-time light heavyweight title challenger under the banner of the promotion, has been sidelined since he featured at UFC 281 back in 2022, suffering a thunderous opening round KO loss to Ryan Spann.

The defeat came as Hesperia native, Reyes’ fourth on the bounce, following knockout losses to former titleholders, Jiri Prochazka, and Jan Blachowicz, and a dubious decision defeat to current heavyweight kingpin, Jon Jones in a 2020 title fight.

Dominick Reyes reveals life-threatening ailment

However, forced from a March return at an Atlantic City event against surging City Kickboxing staple, Ulberg, Reyes revealed that he is “lucky to be alive” as he deals with blood clots – ruling him from a return anytime soon.

“God puts us through some trials, and I’m having another hard go right now,” Dominick Reyes told James Lynch during a recent interview. “Me and Carlos (Ulberg) were slated to fight January 20th. He pulled out, I don’t know why. It’s an injury, obviously, but he’s not going to say what his injury is. And then a week later, I ended up getting blood clots. Deep vein thrombosis. So yeah. I’m out for a minute.”

“I’m lucky to be alive right now, that’s always nice,” Dominick Reyes explained. “We caught it early so it didn’t become a pulmonary embolism, and thank God for that. Which is kind of crazy because I got a massage. My leg was hurting, and I thought I pulled a muscle in my calf, so I got a massage, and that’s the worst thing you can ever do. I’m lucky I didn’t die on that massage table right there.”

Without a victory since 2019, Reyes’ most recent win came in the form of a first round knockout win over former middleweight champion, Chris Weidman in a UFC Fight Night Boston main event clash.

Chris Weidman weighs up retirement ahead of UFC Atlantic City this could be my last fight

Former undisputed middleweight champion, Chris Weidman claims his upcoming UFC Atlantic City fight against Brazilian contender, Bruno Silva could come as his final bout in his storied mixed martial arts career, following his return from a catastrophic leg injury in his comeback against Brad Tavares at UFC 292 last August.

Weidman, a former undisputed middleweight titleholder, is slated to make his return to the Octagon at UFC Atlantic City at the end of March, taking on the aforenoted, Silva in his return.

Snapping a two-year-plus sidelining back in August against Tavares in his second consecutive loss, Weidman had dropped a 17-second TKO loss to Uriah Hall in the pair’s rematch, suffering a gruesome compound fracture of his right tibia and fibula.

And ahead of his return on the East Coast in two months’ time, former undisputed middleweight kingpin, Weidman claimed that his incoming fight with Silva may come as his final in his storied mixed martial arts career.

“Honestly, I wasn’t sure,” Chris Weidman said of a comeback after his UFC 292 loss during a recent interview with Daniel Cormier. “I’m setting myself up for the future, and I wasn’t sure. I was kind of listening to my body and trying to get healthy. Mentally and motivational-wise, and technique-wise. I still think I’m top of the world, but my body’s just taking a beating.”

“This could be my last fight,” Chris Weidman explained. “I’m gonna kind of make that decision throughout the training camp and see how I feel. If my body can handle a hard training camp again, and it might be the last one, it might not be.”

Landing the middleweight title back in 2013 in a shocking upset win over Anderson Silva, Baldwin native, Weidman then defeated the Curitiba native in an immediate rematch, before taking on his compatriots, Vitor Belfort, and Chris Weidman in future championship defenses.
