Roy Nelson has been outspoken about the use of illegal drugs in MMA for a long time.

“Big Country,” who returns to action this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night 95 vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, believes there are things that the USADA is doing right.

But he also feels there is more than could be doing.

“You just have to get rid of the excess at the top,” he said during an appearance on UFC Tonight Wednesday. “Then I’d pay the fighters the extra money, and just call people up and tell them who to test. It’s not that hard.”

Regardless of all that, Nelson believes he can still compete with the best heavyweights in the world and plans to showcase that vs. Silva.

“The challenges he offers are everything,” he said. He’s a complete mixed martial artist. He’s beat the best. He’s knocked out (Alistair) Overeem. He beat Fedor (Emelianenko). It’s heavyweight. You can win some and lose some, but you’ve got to watch.”

It appears that the pressure is on Cris “Cyborg” Justino – and we haven’t even come to Saturday night yet.

The reigning Invicta FC featherweight champion agreed to compete at 140 pounds vs. Lina Lansberg at UFC Fight Night 95. While she remains several pounds away from hitting that mark – and still has until Friday to do so – several people have sounded off about it.

Brian Stann, who works commentary for UFC events on FOX Sports 1, stated his thoughts on it and Cyborg responded, claiming that she cannot even come in at 141 pounds without risk of losing part of her fight purse and the chance to claim a “fight night” bonus.

As you can see in the weigh-in video from UFC 198 earlier this year, the cut was a difficult one for Cyborg. She appears very drawn out and almost exhausted while weighing in for her fight with Leslie Smith.

Roy Nelson Rips USADA: I Could Do A Better Job

Heavyweight slugger Roy “Big Country” Nelson has always been an advocate for stricter drug testing in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), which would make you think that he’s content with the UFC bringing in the help of third-party testing organization United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA), but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Nelson is scheduled to face off with Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the co-main event of this weekend’s (September 24, 2016) UFC Fight Night 95, and he was recently tested ahead of the fight, although he wasn’t pleased with the answer he received when he asked when the results would be in:

“We got USADA doing the testing, and I got tested last week, and I said, ‘Are the tests going to be back before the card I’m fighting on?’” Nelson told MMAjunkie. “They said they don’t know. So that’s how good USADA is.”

Not only that, but “Big Country” feels as if he could do a better job himself:

“I want to know how much (UFC Vice President of Athlete Health and Performance) Jeff Novitzky gets paid and how much USADA gets paid because I could take their jobs and do a 10 times better job,” Nelson said. “I’d actually just make sure it actually counts and not give certain guys a pass. Then, when there’s a guy we don’t care about, he all of a sudden pops or pops after the fight then suspend them for a year after you’ve already made money off them. It doesn’t make any sense.”

“It can definitely get better,” Nelson said. “I’ll take Jeff’s job and still keep my job, and I could do a better job because it’s not that hard. It’s not that hard to do the smell test.”

Nelson will look to bounce back this weekend after losing four of his last five bouts.

It wasn’t too long ago that UFC President Dana White said that women would never compete in the UFC. Obviously he eventually changed his tune, and female fighters have since had the opportunity to become stars in the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion. In fact, UFC Fight Night 95, which takes place this Saturday (September 24, 2016), is set to be headlined by Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino, who will take on Lina Lansberg in a catchweight bout.

Justino has long been a pioneer of women’s MMA, and she finally made her UFC debut last May, although the promotion doesn’t currently have a female featherweight division, and UFC President Dana White doesn’t plan on creating one in the near future either:

“Obviously it’s been very popular and the women have done very well, but as far as the expansion I think it’s inevitable as the sport continues to grow,” White told Combate. “But no plans in the near future, no.”

“As far as a heavier division, no I don’t see that happening,” White said. “I don’t see that happening any time soon, but the 115-pound division continues to get bigger.”

White did add that if the bantamweight and strawweight divisions continue to grow then a 125-pound division could be a possibility:

“If 15 and 35 continue to grow, then yes,” White said. “We can do a 125.”

Unfortunately for “Cyborg”, however, a featherweight division won’t be made “unless there’s anything that just explodes in the next couple of years,” according to White.

Dana White Talks About Potential Dream Matches In The UFC For Cris Cyborg

holm-tate-rousey-cyborg

While making the media rounds for this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 95 event in Brasilia, Brazil, UFC President Dana White spoke about what the future holds for Invicta FC Featherweight Champion and rising UFC contender Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino inside the world-famous Octagon.

“Cyborg is a huge star in the sport of mixed martial arts and in women’s MMA,” said White during an interview this week with GLOBO. “She mows people over very quickly and very violently. People are waiting to see her get challenged, and we’re trying to challenge her. I think that when you talk about a headliner, somebody as big and as dominant and as scary as Cyborg is — she is a definite headliner — and obviously she is Brazilian, and she’s a big star down there. She’s a big star all over the world.”

Regarding specific matches, White claims the dream match would still be Cyborg vs. Ronda Rousey, but also mentioned former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champions Miesha Tate and Holly Holm, as well as current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes as potential opponents down the line.

“The dream fight for Cyborg is obviously the Ronda Rousey fight, but there’s other big names out there,” said the UFC President. “Miesha Tate, Holly Holm and possibly — and I know Brazilians don’t like seeing Brazilians fight — but possibly Amanda Nunes.”

Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino battles Lina Lansberg in the main event of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 95 event from Brasilia, Brazil. The show airs live on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) in North America.
