Andre Fili says Michael Johnson hits like a ‘b*tch.’

Despite losing a close split decision, Andre Fili just trashed Michael Johnson after UFC Lincoln.

Fili (18-6) was stunned when the decision was announced at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska, last weekend (Aug 25, 2018). To his surprise, “Touchy” Fili was on the wrong side of a close split decision loss to Johnson. The setback puts an end to Fili’s two-fight win streak and gives Johnson his first victory in the stacked featherweight division.

Both Fili and Johnson delivered in the co-main event at UFC Lincoln. So much so, the judges rendered a close split decision in favor of Johnson. One judge actually scoring the fight 30-27 for the “Menace”.

Sour Grapes

The Alpha Male fighter took to Instagram to voice his displeasure on his most recent loss. Fili also took a moment to comment on Johnson’s punching power, or lack thereof.

“I WON that fight. Plain and simple. My preparation was perfect and my performance was superior. The universe provides challenges and rewards us for the way we react to and navigate through them.”

“All I’m going to keep focusing on is what I can control. I’m hungrier than ever and I’ll be back better than ever. Thank you to everyone who has my back, I love ya’ll. With that said, @menace155 you hit like a ***** and you act like a *****- I’m ready to crack it off anytime.”

Check out Andre Fili’s original Instagram post here:

It seems Fili is ready to get back to work ASAP. Whether or not he will ever get to settle the score with the “Menace” remains to be seen. However, one thing is for sure, this most recent setback for Fili sure hasn’t cramped his style. This Alpha Male fighter still has his swag, and he is ready to crack it off anytime.

Anthony Smith Fires Back At Haters Of Rapid Rise

Anthony Smith has heard enough from his critics.

Anthony Smith has heard enough from his critics.

“Lionheart” served as a guest fighter for the UFC’s Lincoln event this past weekend (Sat. August 25, 2018). He responded to those who question the level of competition he has been beating recently.

Smith comes off back-to-back wins over a pair of former UFC champions. Some would argue, however, that those men were well past their best days. Smith says people are acting like he’s fighting defenseless children (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I think for the fans, it’s going to make a difference, because as much as I think it’s (expletive), everyone pretends like I’m out here beating up children that can’t defend themselves any more,” Smith said.

“We know that’s not the case,” he continued. “But it is what it is, so now, it’s someone closer to my age, and I think this will really shut the people up and say, ‘Alright, maybe he’s for real.’”

Smith has found himself in the midst of a two-fight win streak. He has defeated former UFC light heavyweight champions Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Rashad Evans.

His performances have earned him a fight with a fellow rising young star. He will fight Volkan Oezdemir in the main event of UFC Fight Night 138 on October 27, 2018.

The action goes down from the Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.

Mickey Gall Explains His Post-UFC Lincoln Callouts

Mickey Gall loves his call outs.

Mickey Gall got the job done this past weekend (Sat. August 25, 2018).

The jiu-jitsu specialist submitted George Sullivan in just 69 seconds. Gall walked to the Octagon expecting a war. He really wanted to show off his striking abilities in the bout. Instead, he took what was given to him (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I’m happy with it,” Gall said. “That’s in my blood. That Gracie jiu-jitsu, that’s second nature. I wanted to do some more, I came in to “Hey Mickey” and then “War.”

“I wanted to go to war, I wanted to bash it, I didn’t really get to throw a punch on the feet. It just came to me. I was looking for it, but I just took what I got, and that’s what came to me.”

After his victory, Gall issued out another one of his famous call outs. This time, however, he named three men. Randy Brown, Sage Northcutt and Diego Sanchez.

Brown was the first fighter to defeat Gall in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. Because he’s asking to avenge a loss, he wants to give a fighter he beat the same opportunity. Hence the call out of Sage Northcutt.

And finally, if neither of those options are available, Gall would like to fight a legend. Diego Sanchez was the name that came to mind:

“I give some options,” Gall said. “I want to fight before Christmas, I said Dan Hardy one time, and Dan Hardy apparently doesn’t fight (anymore), so I’m not pinholing myself.

“I’m going to give you guys some names. I give you three options. I either want to run it back with the guy I fought in the Garden last time.

“In the honor of that I’ll offer to run it back with – this is for the Cornhusk(er) State – Sage Corncutt. Or I want a legend, I want Diego Sanchez.”

Ultimately, Gall wants to be more active. He hasn’t fought as often as he’d like to lately, and wants that to change:

“In the past, I haven’t been as active as I’d like to be,” Gall said. “But I’ve been gearing up for now, and I’m going to be a hell of activity.”

Jake Ellenberger Was Perfect Throwback To MMA Era Long Gone

Jake Ellenberger embodied a more old-school era of MMA.

The post Jake Ellenberger Was Perfect Throwback To MMA Era Long Gone appeared first on LowKickMMA.com.

Last night saw the retirement of one of the UFC’s most hardened veterans when Jake Ellenberger laid his gloves down in the cage following a TKO loss to Bryan Barberena on the main card of UFC Lincoln.

It was his fourth straight loss by T/KO, and “The Juggernaut” felt it was time. Calling it in his home state in front of the crowd in the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., Ellenberger was understandably emotional. He thanked his family and loved ones in addition to the crowds he had fought for for so long.

At the end of the day, he knew his long MMA career had come to a conclusion:

“There’s no better place for me to set the gloves down and say it’s time to move on than the place where it all started,

“I’ve fought here my whole life,” Ellenberger said. “It’s been since 2005. I’ve gotta tell you, it means the world to me. Thank you guys, I love you.”

End Of An Era

Many in the fast-paced online world of mixed martial arts will point to the fact that Ellenberger had lost nine of his previous 11 bouts. He stepped down in the place where his career started to make it go full circle. Few can say that no matter what their recent records were.

So regardless of your view of his timing, Ellenberger’s body of work is something to be respected. It ended even a little too soon in his eyes. After the fight he told MMAjunkie he wished it would have lasted a little longer, but had to think about his kids:

“I don’t know. My kids … their future and time with them has really encouraged that decision. But this is the toughest sport in the world. It really is, and things don’t always go your way.

“I would say it came a little shorter than I would have liked, but that’s what it is right now. So I’m in the process of moving forward.”

Indeed the fight game is perhaps the most unforgiving pro sport. And that’s especially true in today’s social media-driven climate, where exposure and followers are as important as your ranking. Many will argue the rankings mean little based on how the current UFC regime gives out fights.

That was never how Ellenberger fought.

Throwback To An Era Long Past

Ellenberger was the perfect throwback to an era of MMA long gone by. Asked about his retirement in the lead-up to UFC Lincoln, Ellenberger said he would go fight in regional promotions or smokers if he was cut by the UFC. He ultimately and wisely decided against that after another knockout loss, but “The Juggernaut” still embodied the old fighting spirit of mixed martial arts.

Fighting since 2005, Ellenberger was a combatant who fought often and against anyone. His list of welterweight foes is a who’s who of 170-pound greatness. It includes Rory MacDonald, Robbie Lawler, Carlos Condit, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, Diego Sanchez, and Matt Brown.

He owns wins over Shields, Brown, Koscheck, Sanchez, and Nate Marquardt. His record ended with an amazing 46 professional fights in an era where some get title shots with less than 15 pro fights. Ellenberger once fought seven times professionally in a year. He was once regarded as one of the top welterweights in the world following his win over Diego Sanchez in Omaha, Nebraska, in early 2012. While he never climbed that mountain, Ellenberger truly fought anyone at any time.

Many fighters today may say they will, but with the risk of a top-class or short-notice fight often too much, they don’t always follow through. Ellenberger always did, and he was one of the most active welterweights the UFC had for quite some time. Maybe the miles added a bit too quick because of it, leading to mounting knockout losses to where he could no longer continue.

He won’t be fighting in the smokers after all, but Jake Ellenberger is and always will be the spirit that makes fighters rise out of obscurity to the top level of pro MMA.
