UFC flyweight Casey O’Neill believes Taila Santos has what it takes to dethrone Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC 275’s co-main event is set to host the flyweight title bout which sees Santos take on Shevchenko in her attempt to become the division’s latest champion.

Many have doubted what the Brazilian will be able to provide which past title challengers haven’t in her attempt to defeat Shevchenko. Santos will enter the title fight as a large underdog amongst the bookies.

However, O’Neill certainly feels Santos has more than a puncher’s chance against the flyweight queen. However, O’Neill certainly feels Santos has more than a puncher’s chance against the flyweight queen. She even went as far as to say that she thinks the #4 ranked flyweight can finish Shevchenko. In an interview with The Schmo, she even went as far as to say that she thinks the #4-ranked flyweight can finish Shevchenko.

“Yeah, Valentina is an amazing fighter and she’s always looked unbeatable, per see,” said O’Neill. “But it’s gonna take that one person to beat her, and I think if Taila can get her game going forward, hit her with some big power shots, and maybe even get her back or something, she can finish the fight, same way she did with Joanna Calderwood.”

When asked whether she would personally like to be the one to end the dominant reign the UFC flyweight division has endured under Shevchenko, O’Neill replied:

“Yeah, I’m hoping that Taila actually doesn’t win this fight so that I can be the first one. For sure, that would be an amazing feat. But I’ve gotta just go as fast as I can go, and if Valentina keeps fighting at the same time as me, maybe someone will take her off first. There’s a lot of good talent in the 125 division coming up.”

As for O’Neill, her charge towards the title will continue soon with her next fight scheduled for UFC 276 against Jessica Eye. A win over the experienced flyweight may well see the Australian prospect break into the top ten of the division.

Can you see Taila Santos pulling off an upset against Valentina Shevchenko?

At 22 wins and 9 losses, her fight record isn’t perfect, but her résumé is one of the most impressive. Now headlining her third UFC event, Andrade expressed in a pre-fight interview that she feels her hard work is definitely being noticed by the promotion:

“I think it’s a lot about an answer for how our work is being done. For me to be called for a main event, I think it means that I’m doing something right. The work that I’m putting out is being noticed by the UFC and they’re trusting me to close the show. And to have two Brazilian women fighting in the main event is also huge.”

And the #1 flyweight has much to be proud of. Andrade has proven she will back down to no one and has fought against some of the women’s division’s toughest competitors.

Andrade showed absolutely no fear in the face of pound-for-pound queen Valentina Schevchenko or former strawweight champion Joanna J?drzejczyk.

One of her most notable victories was back in 2019 when she defeated Rose Namajunas for the strawweight belt. That slam KO was felt around the world, and those who didn’t know about the “Bate Estaca” became fully aware at that moment.

And tonight, Andrade plans to put on another noteworthy performance to signify the special kind of fighter she is.

“I think it’s a great statement to the work that we’re putting to the UFC, and you can be sure that I’m there to prove (to) Dana White. If he chose me to do the main event, it’s because I have something special. I’m gonna be there to prove that to him, to the fans, and to everybody that’s watching.”

Since her defeat to Shevchenko last year, Andrade returned to the winner’s circle after beating Cynthia Cavillo at UFC 266. Ending Amanda Lemos’s 5-fight undefeated streak after seven months out of the Octagon would most certainly make another major statement.

What are your thoughts on Jéssica Andrade’s comments about being called for a UFC main event?

Sean Strickland Compares Coaches of Aspen Ladd & Rose Namajunas To Weinstein, Calls Them Victims Of Sexual Predators

Sean Strickland, Aspen Ladd, Rose Namajunas

Sean Strickland has disparaged the nature of Aspen Ladd’s relationship with her head coach Jim West, as well as Rose Namajunas’ relationship with her coach Pat Barry.

Not one to be known for his diplomacy, Strickland has built a reputation for himself as a no holds barred barbarian. From porn stars, road rage, and streetfighting challenges, to homophobia, the top ranked middleweight has shared his thoughts on each topic including the personal relationships of fellow fighters, Aspen Ladd and Rose Namajunas.

UFC women’s bantamweight Ladd faced heat from certain fans for her relationship with coach Jim West after he lambasted Ladd between rounds in an unsuccessful effort against Norma Dumont last year at UFC Vegas 40. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate spoke out against what she believed to be “abusive” treatment towards Ladd, who later defended her coach and dismissed Tate’s comments as attention-seeking.

While there have been no further developments regarding Ladd’s relationship with West since he apologized for his behavior, Strickland revisited the topic with his opinion surrounding the controversy.

“Sooooooooooo I’m pretty sure @TheAspenLadd is suffering from Stockholm syndrome…….. lmao!!!!!!!!I didn’t really care about the corner
video but when you add some other facts to the situation it’s a little fucking creepy lmao!!!”

He posted a follow-up tweet after the initial post to give more insight into his opinion.

“Women are very easy targets for male coaches, automatically assume weird father role which turns into a hero worship complex. The fact you started to train with him at what 12? 100 percent grooming sexual predator. Tell me my facts are wrong and I’ll apologize now. @TheAspenLadd

Sean Strickland weighs in on Namajunas’ relationship with her coach

After taking shots at Aspen Ladd and her relationship with her head coach Jim West, Strickland dragged in the relationship of current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose Namajunas with coach Pat Barry. Namajunas has endeared herself with the fans through an inspiring journey in the octagon that saw her become a two-time champion.

While Rose’s main MMA coach is the highly renowned Trevor Wittman, it’s her relationship with longtime partner Pat Barry that draws the wrong kind of attention given the 13-year age gap between her and the former UFC fighter and kickboxer Barry. She was 14 years old when she reportedly met Barry, who was 27 years old at the time.

“Is Jim West and Pat Berry (sic) the Weinstine of MMA? Or is Michael Jackson a better comparison…@netflix is currently contacting @TheAspenLadd and @rosenamajunas for a TV series lol!!!!! OK, I’m done gotta spar..”

Strickland ended the series of tweets with an indication to go and practice for his upcoming bout against Alex Pereira at UFC 277. Pereira holds two wins over the current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in kickboxing and remains the only man to knock out ‘Stylebender’. With the history between the two, Strickland expects to get a title shot if he beats Pereira at the end of July in what many consider to be a top contender contest.

What are your thoughts on Sean Strickland’s comments regarding the relationships of Rose Namajunas and Aspen Ladd with their coaches?

Johnson Discusses The Difference Between His And Pimblett’s Mindset

UFC legend and ONE Championship flyweight Demetrious Johnson has described the difference between his fighting mindset and that of rising star Paddy Pimblett. UFC legend and ONE Championship flyweight Demetrious Johnson has described the difference between his fighting mindset and that of rising star Paddy Pimblett.

While Johnson, a former dominant champion on MMA’s biggest stage, has been at the top of the sport for a number of years, Pimblett has only recently broken through onto the mainstream scene. He’s done so via back-to-back finishes in his first two UFC outings, as well as an entertaining and outspoken personality.

After dispatching Luigi Vendramini on debut last September, Pimblett’s sophomore outing came last month in front of a home crowd at UFC London. Given his first-round submission win and the memorable crowd reaction that followed, it’s safe to say the Englishman followed through on his pre-fight claims, both in terms of performance and his UK popularity.

But despite his rapid rise to fame outside the cage, Pimblett is expecting a slow approach to the top, which is to be dictated by his place on the UFC’s pay scale.

Following his debut, “The Baddy” suggested he wouldn’t be agreeing to a meeting in the cage with a top-10 opponent until he moves onto a six-figure UFC deal. During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour, “Mighty Mouse” Johnson reacted to that stance.

While he understands Pimblett’s reluctance to face the best while on a $12k/$12k deal with the promotion, Johnson admitted that mindset is a far cry from how he approached his own early days in the UFC.

“Paddy Pimblett, he said, ‘Man, I’m not gonna fight a top 10 or top 15 (opponent).’ I’m like, ‘What?!’ See, my mindset back in the day when I fought, Matt (Hume) says, ‘We just f*ckin’ fight. That’s what we do. Don’t worry about the money, the money’s gonna come. Just keep on fighting, keep on fighting.’

“So when he (Pimblett) said, I think he said he won’t take or top 10 or top 15 ’cause he’s making 12 and 12 (thousand). I understand that. That is, you know, for how much he’s bringing to the table—contracts, it is what it is. Sh*t, when I first fought, it was three and three.”

Johnson Showed His Willingness To Fight The Best At ONE X

In regards to fighting the best in the sport, Johnson has certainly put his money where his mouth is, not only across the past decade but also in his most recent outing.

At ONE X, ONE Championship’s 10-year anniversary spectacle, “Mighty Mouse” took on a unique challenge. He featured in a mixed-rules superfight against the consensus Muay Thai best, Rodtang Jitmuangnon, who boasts a mind-boggling 267-42-10 record in the striking discipline at the age of just 24.

Johnson cited his willingness to throw down with the Thai fighter outside of his comfort zone as evidence of how his mindset differs from that of Pimblett’s and other modern up-and-comers in the sport.

“Him (Pimblett) saying he won’t take a top 15, I’m like, when they were like, ‘Wanna fight Rodtang, the best fighter in the world?’ I was like, ‘Sure, let’s do it.’ They were like, ‘You wanna fight in Muay Thai?’ I was like, ‘I don’t even own a Muay Thai belt, but I’ll fight him in Muay Thai…’ We get paid to fight. We don’t get paid to pick and choose what we’re gonna do,” concluded Johnson.

What’s your take on Paddy Pimblett’s unwillingness to face a top-10 opponent on his current UFC contract?

Henry Cejudo Meets UFC Brass, Targets “B*tch” Aljamain Sterling For Return Fight

Henry Cejudo

Former UFC two-division champ Henry Cejudo appears to be a step closer to his return to fighting after meeting with two of the most influential men of the company.

Henry Cejudo ruled the lighter weight classes during his time in the promotion to become the champion at both flyweight and bantamweight. After winning his last outing against Dominick Cruz in 2020, Cejudo made a surprise announcement about his retirement from the sport. Many speculated about his seriousness over the decision while UFC president Dana White opted to take him on his word.

Hoping to gain more leverage in negotiations, Cejudo hung up his gloves being at the very top of his game as a double champion. This means that he will likely command more money as the promotion would have to convince him to come out of retirement with more cash. He has been teasing a comeback to fighting ever since retiring.

Earlier this month, Cejudo re-entered the USADA drug-testing pool after a two-year hiatus. Ali Abdelaziz, his manager, reported the news to ESPN after which “Triple C” took to social media to post a screenshot of the confirmation.

Abdelaziz took to Twitter to share the meeting between Henry Cejudo and two of the most powerful men in the UFC. The double champ met with UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby and Hunter Campbell, the Chief Business Officer for the promotion. Both men have garnered a notorious reputation in the community and largely dictate the careers of their fighters deciding who they will face next.

Henry Cejudo calls out “b*tch” Aljamain Sterling

Having never lost either of his belts inside the octagon, Henry Cejudo vacated them shortly after his last fight at UFC 249. ‘The Messenger’ is aiming for the current UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling for his return bout as he addressed him as “the number one contender”.

“I’m coming back for these tomato cans and I’m going to right the wrong! Aljolame you the number one contender Bitch @funkmasterMMA@danawhite

Sterling unified his UFC title with a split decision win over former interim titleholder Petr Yan at UFC 273 this month. Aljo wasted no time in responding to Cejudo with brevity.

A third fight with Yan could be on the cards but not in the near future. For his next opponent, Aljo may face T.J. Dillashaw who has remained in the mix of title contention to challenge the champion.

With Cejudo inching his way closer to being back in the UFC, it’s unclear if he could get a shot at the title or will have to start with a top contender eliminator bout as expressed by Dana White in the past.

Do you think Henry Cejudo will get a shot at Aljamain Sterling in his return?
