A court official in Corsica sent a statement to the Agence France-Presse confirmingMcGregor’s arrest, it read.

“Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services.”

This latest run in with the law doesn’t seem to have spoiled the McGregor family holiday. ‘Notorious’ is currently competing in awater biking contest across the Mediterranean, which starts at Corsica and finishes in Monaco. The 180km race is scheduled to started earlier to and is expected to take 30 hours to compete.

McGregor is currently retired from fighting after becoming demotivated due to the lack of fights available to him. The Irishman was last seen in action at UFC 246. He picked up a 40 second TKO victory over MMA veteran Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone back in January. Earlier this week McGregor teased a comeback. The 32-year-old posted to social media showing he is still being tested by USADA while simultaneously taking a shot at his long-time rival Nate Diaz.

Despite the recent developments surrounding the targeted pairing of former interim champion, Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier – the latter isn’t shutting the proverbial door on a pairing with the former in the future, just not at UFC 254 on October 24.

News began circulating last night, regarding the status of Ferguson’s clash with Poirier, or lack thereof, with Poirier and the promotion some distance apart on terms which would see him co-main event the ‘Fight Island’ event, beneath Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Justin Gaethje.

Poirier, who recently featured at a UFC Fight Night Vegas event in June, took a unanimous judging win over the then-streaking, Dan Hooker – in his first outing since his UFC 242 title unification loss to Khabib last September. The Lafayette native had recently travelled to American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida to begin camp in preparation for the possible materialisation of a bout with Ferguson – but has since returned home to Lousiana.

Replying to a Twitter user tonight, Poirier remained firm that he won’t feature opposite fellow former interim gold holder Ferguson in October – but failed to completely bury a matching down the road.

There’s always a chance just not looking like it’s going to happen next month.” Poirier wrote.

The promotion was initially planning on utilising the pairing of Ferguson and Poirier as a potential backup for Khabib and Gaethje if either of the headliners failed to make the walk. If Nurmagomedov was for some reason ruled out of the October event, Poirier would draft in and rematch Gaethje for the title. If Gaethje were left unable to compete, the promotion would look to finally pair Nurmagomedov and Ferguson together, albeit on short notice.

For Ferguson, the 10th. Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt was hoping to return to winning ways, following his incredible twelve-fight winning run came to an end at the hands of the previously mentioned, Gaethje on short-notice at UFC 249 in Jacksonville in May

Israel Adesanya still wants to fight Jon Jones even though “Bones” has moved up to heavyweight.

For months now, Adesanya and Jones have traded shots at one another and the middleweight champ had the plan of fighting Jones in the summer of 2021. Yet, with Jones vacating the belt and looking to move up to heavyweight many thought that fight wouldn’t happen. But, the middleweight champion says he still wants that fight.

“I still have that in mind, it’s still part of my plan,” Adesanya said at virtual media day (via MMAFighting). “But let me ask you this, how many years has Jon Jones been in the UFC? And he only just moved up in weight, right?

“So why would he or anyone else expect me to move up in weight, when I just got the belt, rather than defend my belt like he has and create a legacy before jumping up in weight. So I’m sticking to my plan. I’m never going to let anyone make me fold, or make me make a move ahead of schedule. I’m sticking to my plan.”

Before any of that can happen, Israel Adesanya will need to beat Paulo Costa at UFC 253. It is no doubt a dangerous fight, but for Adesanya he doesn’t think the Brazilian is as good of a striker than any of his past opponents.

“Even in kickboxing, he’s not one of the best,” Adesanya said. “I’ve faced way better strikers. That’s not even close. He’s definitely not the best fighter. I think [Anderson] Silva is a better striker than him, [Robert] Whittaker is a different striker than him, but can be better.

“Yeah, he’s not the best striker I’ve fought, but he’s dangerous, though. That’s one thing you have to remember. But he has to remember, so am I.”

Angela Hill Proud To Be First African-American Woman To Headline A UFC Show

Cláudia Gadelha

When Angela Hill makes the walk to the Octagon against Michelle Waterson in the main event of UFC Vegas 10, she will be the first African-American woman to headline a show.

It is no doubt a big deal for Hill and she says she is proud and honored to be the first.

“It’s big, and I didn’t even realize how big it was until (my manager) mentioned it to me,” Hill told reporters during her UFC on ESPN+ 35 virtual media scrum (via MMAJunkie). “I think in a time like this, people need heroes people need someone to look up to, someone to root for. And just the fact that this hasn’t happened yet is indicative of the fact that it is important.

“A lot of people would say, ‘Why does it matter?’ But if it doesn’t matter to you, that’s OK, but it does matter to the fans who see that and they’re like, ‘Finally, finally, we have some representation. Finally we have a face in this sport that we love, and we’ve been waiting for so long.’”

It also means more to Angela Hill given what is going on in the United States with the Black Lives Matter movement.

“Its really cool to be a part of the Black Lives Matter movement,” Hill explained. “It’s really important, and I think people try to pretend that it’s not and call it things that it isn’t because it’s hard to look at the violence. It’s hard to say there’s something wrong when you haven’t experienced it yourself.

“I think the reason it’s so important to Black people is because they’ve all had moments where they felt in danger or they felt they weren’t considered as human as their white counterparts, and it’s not something that disappeared when (former President Barack) Obama got elected. It’s not something that disappeared once cops got body cams. It’s something that’s still hurting the community right now. I think with the pandemic that’s going on right now, with just everything just being so divisive, it’s really brought it to light and made people pay attention to how hard the struggles are and the fact there needs to be some change.”

Angela Hill is coming off a controversial decision loss to Claudia Gadelha in May and is looking to return to the win column against Michelle Waterson.
