As noted, MMA legend Anderson Silva is off of this Saturday’s UFC 198 pay-per-view event in Curitiba, Brazil after being rushed to emergency surgery to have a gall bladder removed on Wednesday morning.
It was clear that due to the operation, “The Spider” would be off of this weekend’s fight card, however it wasn’t known until now whether or not the UFC would be able to move someone into Silva’s spot so that rising UFC contender Urijah Hall could remain on the card.
Unfortunately, we now have our answer.
It was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon that due to Silva being pulled from the card, Urijah Hall has been pulled from the event as well.
According to the UFC, the fight between Bryan Barberena and Warlley Alves has been moved from the preliminary card on FS1 to the PPV portion of the event. Replacing that fight on the prelims is a fight originally scheduled for the UFC Fight Pass prelims between Francisco Trinaldo and Yancy Medeiros.
UFC 198 is scheduled for this Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Curitiba, Brazil. Make sure to visit MMANews.com this Saturday for the best UFC 198 live results coverage on the web!

Many have been wondering about the communication status between Conor McGregor and Dana White following the reigning UFC Featherweight Champion’s recent fallout with UFC management regarding the upcoming landmark UFC 200 event.
This week, UFC President Dana White appeared on “The Dan Patrick Show,” as seen above, to clear up the situation.
“Conor and I have been talking every day,” White said on Wednesday. “We’re gonna have dinner next week. Our relationship is great. We’re gonna put the little speed bump in the road behind us and move forward. Everything is great.”
White continued, “McGregor is ready to fight on 200. The thing that has made Conor McGregor a massive star and why people love him is this kid loves to fight. He’ll fight anybody, anywhere, any time. He goes in and goes for broke. His fights are exciting and fun, leading up to them, during them and after them. McGregor is ready to fight.”
White would go on to clarify that nothing is official regarding the rumors of a McGregor vs. Nate Diaz rematch at UFC 202.
As reported on Tuesday evening, MMA legend Anderson Silva is out of his scheduled fight against Urijah Hall at this Saturday’s UFC 198 pay-per-view in Curitiba, Brazil.
Silva’s doctor Marcio Tannure told MMAFighting.com that “The Spider” is scheduled to undergo surgery to remove his gall bladder on Wednesday morning.
He was expected to fly from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Curitiba, Brazil for the fight on Tuesday morning, however he was instead rushed to the hospital four hours before his team was scheduled to leave.
“He called me and said ‘I’m going to the hospital, but I’ll get better’, so we came to Curitiba,” Silva’s coach Luiz Carlos Dorea said to MMA Fighting. “When we arrived in Curitiba, he said ‘Master, I came home but the pain is too much.’ I told him to eat something, but he said ‘I can’t, I’m eating and throwing up.’ He told me this afternoon that it was too painful and he had to go back to the hospital.”
Dorea continued, explaining that Silva was merely five pounds away from making weight before he felt incredible pain.
“He was doing great, and this came out of nowhere,” Dorea said. “He felt some (abdominal) pain before, but nothing serious. He always came back to train the next day, so we never imagined it would be something like this.”
Headlined by Fabricio Werdum vs. Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship and featurinng Cris Cyborg’s Octagon debut against Leslie Smith, Vitor Belfort vs. Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Corey Anderson and more, UFC 198 is scheduled for Saturday, May 14, 2016 in Curitiba, Brazil.

It looks like UFC President Dana White doesn’t agree with recent reports that claim UFC is in “advanced talks” to be sold for up to 4 billion dollars to new owners.
“The UFC is not for sale,” White said. “The ESPN story is overblown. Darren Rovell is not a fan of facts. His facts could not be further off.”
ESPN first reported the news on Tuesday evening that the Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta were selling the UFC and that four bidders were in contention. It was believed that the winning bid was somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.5 to 4 billion dollars.
The four bidders in the potential UFC sale are said to be China Media Capital, The Blackstone Group and Dalian Wanda Group. Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reported that the Wanda Group is the front-runner and an announcement regarding a sale could come out as soon as July.

Shortly after the news came out on Tuesday that BJ Penn vs. Dennis Siver would serve as the main event of the preliminary card for next month’s UFC 199 event, the fight itself was scrapped.
BJPenn.com was the first to report the news that Siver has suffered an undisclosed injury and had to pull out of the scheduled fight against “The Prodigy” as a result.
As of this writing, there is no word as to whether or not Penn will remain on the card. Penn last fought in 2014, dropping a third fight to former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar. He was scheduled to make his Octagon return at UFC 199 against Siver next month. We will keep you posted regarding Penn’s UFC 199 status.
UFC 199 takes place on Sarturday, June 4, 2016 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Now that Anderson Silva had to drop out from the stacked UFC 198 main card in Brazil, Uriah Hall needs a new opponent on short notice. A former TUF Finalist and welterweight, Dhiego Lima, has reached out as a possible replacement.
Lima tweeted yesterday,
“I’m a tuf finalist like you in shape Medicals up to date and Brazilian I’m your guy if u want to stay on the card”
Lima competed on TUF Season 19 and advanced all the way to the finale where the Brazilian lost to champion Eddie Gordon in the first round. Lima’s time in the UFC was mostly disappointing, after a decision win at UFC Fight Night 56 in 2014 against Jorge Antonio Cezario de Oliveria, he dropped two straight fights and was shown the exit door. Both of those fights; however, Lima accepted on short notice.
Following a brief hiatus where he was able to rediscover his love for fighting, Lima made a victorious return at Legacy 53 in Atlanta, GA, taking a decision win against Antonio Trocoli. That fight was in April of this year, and Lima has most recently signed with Titan FC. He is scheduled to fight David Michaud in Miami on June 10.
Lima holds an 11-4 professional record. If he were to replace Silva, he would have to move to middleweight, but moving up in weight would not be difficult for Lima who has stayed fit in between camps. His last weight cut to 170 was much easier as he reworked his nutritional approach, and he would most certainly be able to go up in weight.
Lima is slightly taller than Hall, standing at six-two as opposed to Hall’s six even. He is incredibly well rounded, holding 3 KO/TKO wins, 4 submission victories, and 4 decisions. Lima trains and coaches out of American Top Team in Lawrenceville, GA. Considering many middleweight opponents are already tied up with other fights, Lima could be the best option.
