It looks like former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo is ready for that Conor McGregor rematch now.

After turning down the opportunity to fight McGregor at UFC 196 on two weeks notice, Aldo is already calling out the man who still holds the title that used to belong to him just minutes after he was submitted by Nate Diaz in Saturday night’s main event.

“See ya at UFC 200 [Conor McGregor],” wrote Aldo on Twitter. “Your fairy tale is over. You got nowhere to run now.”

Aldo concluded, “Time to [do] a rematch, p*ssy.”

Well, if Miesha Tate upsetting Holly Holm to become the new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion wasn’t enough, the main event had quite the shocking outcome at UFC 196 as well.

UFC veteran and former TUF Champion Nate Diaz forced “The Notorious” Conor McGregor to tap out to a rear-naked choke at the 4:12 mark of the second round, ending what was a two-round war up until that point.

McGregor lumped up Diaz with kicks and punches in the first round, opening a big cut near Diaz’s right eye that turned the Stockton native’s face into a crimson mask. Diaz was covered in blood by the end of the first.

In the second round, Diaz’s face was a completely bloody mess after McGregor started putting together an impressive series of strikes only to get caught with some by Diaz that rocked him. McGregor never seemed to completely recover as from that point on, Diaz stayed on McGregor and blistered him with a barrage of shots that led to him getting the Irishman’s back and sinking in the rear-naked choke.

“Hey, I’m not surprised mother f*ckers,” said Diaz when Joe Rogan asked him how it felt to get that victory.

In an epic performance, former Strikeforce Women’s Champion added another gold belt to her trophy closet on Saturday night, as she choked out Holly Holm to become only the third UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion in history.

After nearly choking out Holm in the second round on multiple occasions, but “The Preacher’s Daughter” managed to hang on and survive.

From there, Holm would get back in control of the action only to find herself in deep trouble again in the fifth and final round.

Trouble she would not manage to escape this time.

Miesha “Cupcake” Tate got Holm’s back and once again secured a rear-naked choke. Holm, in an attempt to escape threw Miesha over her head and while she landed awkwardly, Tate held onto the choke and Holm eventually went completely out.

And there you have it. We have a new UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion.

What this means for “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey’s return remains to be seen. Does she prefer getting the win back from Holm, or her title back from another rival of hers?

Only time will tell!

Conor McGregor Done As UFC Featherweight Champion? Dana White Thinks So

As “The Notorious” Conor McGregor makes his walk to the Octagon on Saturday evening to fight Nate Diaz in a welterweight bout inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, it could be the beginning of the end of McGregor’s reign as the UFC’s second-ever 145-pound champion. That’s what UFC President Dana White seems to be predicting at least.

“I think if [McGregor] wins impressively [Saturday], he doesn’t even go back to [145 pounds],” the UFC President said on Friday in Las Vegas. “That’s what I think. That weight cut is horrible for him. He looks terrible. I’m sure he feels terrible. I think he stays at 170 if he wins tomorrow.”

If White is correct and McGregor does stay at 170 pounds, where he will be fighting for the first time tonight against the younger Diaz brother, it would likely mean the end of his reign as UFC Featherweight Champion without ever having defended the title since capturing it from the previous champion and the only other man in UFC history to hold that particular title, Jose Aldo.

According to White, however, if McGregor does stay at 170 or doesn’t drop back below 155 due to the atrociously hard cut down to 145 pounds, vacating the UFC Featherweight title will be a “non-issue.”

“That would be a non-issue if he doesn’t go back and he understands that,” White said. “Listen, when you’re dealing with Conor McGregor, he’s a smart guy. He gets business. He’s not unreasonable about anything and he will fight anybody, anywhere at any time. How can anybody have a problem with that?

“When you’re dealing with super talented people, they’re always going to be quirky and different in their own ways. But no matter what you are, when you act and fight and step up for anything the way Conor does, you can’t deny the kid.”
