In just a few short days, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will make its broadcasting television debut on the FOX Network.

UFC on Fox 1 will take place on November 12th, 2011 in Anaheim, California in front of a sold-out Honda Center.

With the live event quickly approaching, UFC fans across the globe patiently await for what has the potential to be one of the biggest nights in UFC history.

The main event of the evening will be featured around current heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who will meet his toughest test to date, Junior Dos Santos.

In an interview, Dos Santos weighed in with what it meant to be a part of such an historical event when he stated,

“I know it’s going to be huge for our sport, for all of MMA, and for the UFC. I’m just happy to be here and I want to do my best to win this fight.”

One of the things Dos Santos has been criticized in previous fights is his inexperience to grapple with his opponents.

Unfortunately for Dos Santos, Velasquez is one of the better wrestlers in the heavyweight division as he addressed the issue by stating,“I think he’s going to try and take me down and make his ground-and-pound. He’s very good at ground-and-pound and I think he will try to do that. But I’m going to try very hard to keep this fight standing, because I want to knock him out and I will try my best to knock him out on Saturday.”

And, while Dos Santos may be the underdog heading into his matchup on November 12th, he’s not the slightest bit fazed.

In fact, Dos Santos has gone as far to guarantee a victory over Velasquez.

“I will win the title. I’m really confident I will be the heavyweight champion on Saturday.”

Dos Santos will have the opportunity not only to be declared the new UFC heavyweight champion on November 12th, but to be the first man to ever defeat Velasquez.

UFC on FOX can be seen on the FOX Network beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and 9:00 p.m. ET.

UFC on FOX 1 Fight Card: Velasquez vs Dos Santos Will End With a KO

UFC on FOX 1 will take place on November 12, 2011 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California beginning at 6:00 p.m. PT and 9:00 p.m. ET.

It will be the UFC’s broadcasting television debut as they recently agreed to terms with the FOX Network to air live events over the course of the next seven years.

In total, UFC on FOX will consist of one main card fight and nine preliminary bouts that can be seen on the FOX website or Facebook.

The main event of the evening will be headlined around the current UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez who will square off with highly dangerous striker, Junior Dos Santos.

And while the main event between Velasquez and Dos Santos is scheduled for five rounds, fans shouldn’t necessarily expect to see that.

In fact, UFC fans across the globe can dismantle any ideas of this title fight going to the judge’s scorecards or ending via submission.

Since entering the sport of mixed martial arts in October of 2006, Velasquez has been on an absolute tear, having won all nine fights of his short-lived career.

However, it’s Velasquez’s ability to knock his opponents out that have caught many eyes along the way.

Of Velasquez’s nine career victories, eight of them have been a direct result of the knockout.

But, Dos Santos isn’t too far behind as he’s displayed exceptional striking skills as well over the course of his five year career.

In 14 career bouts, Dos Santos has finished his opponent eight times by way of knockout.

And, when action begins on November 12, fans can expect an absolute slug fest from the second these two fighters touch gloves.

With two of the UFC’s heaviest hitters colliding, it’s almost certain this championship bout will result in a knockout.

The only question is,

Who will be handing out the knockout blow and who will be receiving it?

UFC on FOX 1 Fight Card: Clay Guida Deserves Title Shot with Win over Henderson

It was July 26, 2003 when Clay Guida entered the Octagon for the very first time to take on Adam Copenhaver in Ottawa, Illinois.

Guida’s career got off to a rough start, as he was submitted via rear-naked choke midway through Round 1.

Things didn’t get any easier as “The Carpenter” would go on to lose two of his next five bouts.

However, things turned around for Guida, reeling off a career-best 15 consecutive wins before entering the Strikeforce organization in 2006.

Guida would only fight two fights before joining forces with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

In his first 10 UFC bouts, Guida would post a subpar 5-5 record and it appeared he’d never be a legitimate lightweight contender.

Still, Guida became a fan favorite over the course of his early career in the UFC, as he provided fans with the excitement and entertainment value they all search for and appreciate.

After going through the mediocre stretch of his career, Guida won four consecutive fights, including wins over Anthony Pettis and Takanori Gomi.

Now, Guida will take on arguably the toughest matchup in his career when he squares off with fellow lightweight Ben Henderson at UFC on FOX 1.

Despite displaying inconsistency over his UFC career, Guida has done everything that’s been asked of him and more.

He’s won four “Fight of the Night” awards, took home “Submission of the Night” honors twice, and even won “Fight of the Year” against Tyson Griffin at UFC 72 in ’07.

If Guida can find a way to defeat Henderson November 12th, he’ll have done enough to have earned a lightweight title fight against current champion Frankie Edgar.

Melvin Guillard was originally believed to be one fight away, but all hopes of that collapsed after being submitted by Joe Lauzon at UFC 136 in the very first round.

So, a win against Ben Henderson at UFC on FOX 1 will have certainly earned Clay Guida a lightweight title shot.

Predictions for UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs. dos Santos are flooding in from all corners of the world.

This monumental fight has been split nearly 50-50 in regards to which competitor fans and experts are picking to win, but, as always, all predictions are biased due to simple human nature.

One prediction has erased the human element, though, and gone simply to a head-to-head breakdown of what could happen this Saturday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA.

The developers of the upcoming video game UFC Undisputed 3 have given us the best of two worlds. They have predicted Saturday night’s main event between Velasquez and dos Santos while also giving us some excellent, high-definition in-game video from the new game.

The presentation looks amazing as it breaks down the physical skills of both challenger Junior dos Santos and champion Cain Velasquez, just like we see on real-life breakdowns from the UFC.

Improved standup game physics bring a higher level of realism, while making timing and counters significantly more important than they were in the past. In addition, the ground game looks to be upgraded, as takedowns, transitions and the swaying system are on display in this gameplay video.

UFC on FOX: Brock Lesnar to Serve as Analyst for Velasquez vs. Dos Santos

Former champion Brock Lesnar will return to television this Saturday night, but it won’t be as a competitor.

Instead, the mammoth heavyweight will serve as an expert fight analyst for the inaugural UFC on FOX: Velasquez vs. dos Santos bout for the UFC heavyweight championship.

UFC president Dana White made the announcement during a media call Wednesday afternoon, noting that the sport’s biggest star may be more familiar with these two competitors than anyone else in the sport.

“Brock Lesnar is actually going to be one of the analysts on the show, breaking down the fight,” White revealed. “He [defended the title] against Cain Velasquez, and he was supposed to fight Junior dos Santos, so his opinion is interesting.”

Lesnar was set to fight dos Santos earlier this year following the two heavyweights’ stints as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter 13. Unfortunately, a second bout with the debilitating disease diverticulitis flared up, and he was forced to drop out of the fight.

He has now spent more than a year outside of the cage, but is scheduled to return Dec. 30 when he will fight former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem in the main event of that important fight card.

White also announced that Overeem will join Lesnar in attendance for this Saturday’s heavyweight title fight.

“We’re going to be talking about Alistair Overeem and Brock Lesnar. Overeem will be there,” he said.

These four fighters are arguably the top four current heavyweights in the world, and it has been speculated that we may see the winner of Velasquez vs. dos Santos fight the winner of Lesnar vs. Overeem at some point in 2012.
