The old Anthony Pettis returned at a new weight class Saturday night, as “Showtime” snapped a three-fight losing skid by submitting Charles Oliveira in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 21.
For Pettis, the submission victory was his third straight over a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and gave him 16 career stoppage wins among 19 career triumphs.

In the co-main event, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis defeated Charles Oliveira with a third round guillotine choke, snapping a three-fight losing skid for “Showtime.” It marked his third straight win over a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, having also previously bested Benson Henderson and Gilbert Melendez.
Paige VanZant made her return to action with a second round knockout of Bec Rawlings, while Jim Miller pushed his career mark vs. Joe Lauzon to 2-0 with a split decision win.

In the opening seconds of the second round, however, the Dancing With the Stars runner-up opened with a jumping switch kick that sent Rawlings crashing to the mat with a thud.

Oliveira immediately began to grind away at the former champ and attempt to implement his jiu-jitsu game on ‘Showtime’.
Multiple times throughout the bout’s progression the Brazilian was able to take Pettis’ back and threaten a choke, but the former champ was able to scramble out.
In the third round of the contest Oliveira’s consistency in taking the fight to the ground would come back to haunt him, as Pettis locked in a guillotine choke for his 145-pound debut victory.
