Although it was a solid and entertaining fight card, UFC on FOX 26, which took place last night (Dec. 16, 2017) live on FOX from Winnipeg, Canada, didn’t perform too well in terms of ratings.

According to a report from MMAFighting.com, the show did just 1.78 million viewers, while totaling a .6 rating in the 18-49 demographic on the fast nationals. These numbers are the worst ever for the UFC’s annual December show on FOX, and the third lowest ever for an event on FOX.

To put the numbers into context, last year’s UFC on FOX December show brought in a whopping 2.69 million viewers.

In the main event of UFC on FOX 26, former lightweight titleholder Rafael dos Anjos dominated ex-welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in a five-round affair. In the co-main event, late replacement opponent Josh Emmett stunned Ricardo Lamas with a brutal first-round knockout.

Also on the main card, Santiago Ponzinibbio outpointed Mike Perry in an entertaining fight, and former light heavyweight title challenger Glover Teixeira scored a first-round stoppage victory over Misha Cirkunov.

UFC on FOX 26 is in the books, and now it’s time for Reebok to pay the fighters their sponsorship money.

UFC on FOX 26 took place on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The main card aired on FOX at 8 p.m. ET while the preliminary card was split broadcasted on FOX Sports 1 at 5 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass, at 4 p.m. ET.

Robbie Lawler vs. Rafael dos Anjos in a welterweight bout served as the main event while Josh Emmett vs. Ricardo Lamas in a featherweight bout served as the co-main event. Rounding out the four bout main card was Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Mike Perry in a welterweight bout and Glover Teixeira vs. Misha Cirkunov in a light heavyweight bout.

A potential welterweight title shot was on the line when former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos squared off with former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in the main event of tonight’s (Sat., December 16, 2017) UFC on FOX 26 from the Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg, Canada.

It promised to be a grueling affair, and indeed the in-cage action delivered on that promise when dos Anjos and Lawler threw down in a hard-fought, five-round affair that featured a ton of action from both sides. Lawler threw his trademark power shots from early and often, and fought through at least one leg injury that appeared to badly hinder his ability to move.

But in the end, it was dos Anjos’ well-rounded assault of well-timed leg kicks, punching combinations, clinch work, and effective takedowns that scored him a clear unanimous decision win over “Ruthless” and perhaps the next shot at  UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley when he returns from shoulder surgery. He’d certainly be deserving after three straight victories at 170 pounds after leaving the draining weight cut to 155 pounds behind.

Now that the UFC on FOX 26 has come to an end, several fighters have earned themselves an extra $50,000 for their extraordinary performances.

On the FS1 preliminary card, the highly-anticipated Octagon debut of middleweight prospect Julian Marquez took place as he took on Darren Stewart. The pair put on an amazing back-and-forth contest that eventually saw Marquez take home the win in the second round with a guillotine choke. They were each rewarded $50,000 for their efforts.

Performance Of The Night went to two fighters tonight. Opening up the FS1 Preliminary card was a fight between Alessio Di Chirico and Oluwale Bamgbose. Di Chirico landed a beautiful knee in the second round that absolutely slept Bamgbose. His spectacular performance was awarded with an extra $50,000.

Two-fights later Nordine Taleb pulled off one of the more impressive finishes of the night against Danny Roberts. Taleb landed a huge head kick, followed up by a punch, that rendered Roberts unconscious in the first minute of the fight for the win. He was also gifted an extra $50,000.
