The UFC returns to Fox next month, when the Octagon will touch down in Chicago. The card will be headlined by a flyweight title bout between champion Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson.
Also on the card will be a light heavyweight tilt between Ryan Bader and Vladimir Matyushenko. Both men are strong 205ers that could jump into a top fight with a win here.

Two top light heavyweights will reportedly clash at the upcoming UFC on Fox 6 card in Chicago, Illinois next month as Ryan Bader takes on Vladimir Matyushenko.
ESPN confirmed the bout with inside sources today, citing that they would join the January card.
This match will be Bader‘s 11th fight with the UFC, not counting three exhibition appearances during Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter.
Bader walks into this bout coming off a second-round KO loss against former UFC light heavyweight champion LyotoMachida, who shut down “Darth” with a clean counter shot at UFC on Fox 4. Bader is currently 2-3 in his last five fights, with his most recent victory coming against Quinton Jackson at UFC 144 in Japan.
Matyushenko is also trying to get back into the “win” column following a loss against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 141 last December.
“The Janitor” was previously expected to face returning top light heavyweight Matt Hamill last September at UFC 152, but pulled out of the fight due to a torn Achilles tendon suffered during a training accident.
Both fighters will likely be fighting on Fox’s televised broadcast, as Bader has been a main card staple in all but two of his 10 UFC appearances. Matyushenko hasn’t been promoted as heavily by the UFC, but nonetheless has headlined one card (against Jon Jones) in addition to two main card spots.
UFC on Fox 6 will be headlined with a flyweight title fight between champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Jon Dodson. Donald Cerrone vs. Anthony Pettis and Quinton Jackson vs. Glover Teixeira are also expected for the main card, while Clay Guida drops to featherweight to face HatsuHioki on the preliminary set.

The personal animosity between lightweight contenders Anthony Pettis and Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone shows no sign of abating, with Pettis telling Fight Hub TV that he respects his upcoming opponent’s skills, but little else about him.
That may be because Cerrone had the temerity to call out the former WEC lightweight champion all the way back in August, shortly before his fight against Melvin Guillard.
In an interview with Lowkick (H/T Bloody Elbow), Cerrone made it clear he’d rather fight “Pettis’ b**** ass” his former training partner Guillard, accusing Pettis of hiding behind his shoulder injury.
At the time, those comments caught Pettis off-guard, considering he’d been ruled out of action for some time. But that fight made perfect sense, soon the two were openly gunning for each other, and UFC matchmakers quickly obliged.
As top-five lightweights, both are gate keepers for each other in their chases for a title shot, but Pettis did not appreciate Cerrone’s tactics in calling him out.
“The way he went about it…If he wants to fight me say you want to fight me, you don’t have to talk s*** about me, y’know?” said Pettis (via Fight Hub TV).
Back in 2011 when the UFC merged the WEC with its own promotion, Pettis, as reigning WEC champion, was considered a sure bet for a unified title fight. He’d won the WEC belt after a stunning performance against Benson Henderson, check-marked with the now-famous Matrix-style kick off the cage.
But while Henderson went on to capture the UFC lightweight championship from Frank Edgar, with three dominant performances behind him, Pettis fell at the first hurdle, losing to Clay Guida in his UFC debut.
When asked by Fight Hub TV about Henderson’s fortunes compared to his, Pettis said the lightweight champion looks a different fighter than the WEC days. He also said, that the Guida loss severely damaged his title aspirations which he’s slowly clawing back.
“I’ve been waiting for the title shot for a long time, but I don’t see that happening,” said Pettis. “Once you’re in the spot, you don’t get chances come around for a long time. I learnt that lesson the hard way. Title shots don’t come up that fast.”
He might not have to wait as long as he thinks.
Henderson is expected to face Nate Diaz in a championship match next week at UFC on Fox 5 in Seattle. After that match, there are no obvious contenders in a heavily stacked division, and, win or lose, Henderson will likely be eager to want to avenge his embarrassing loss to Pettis in 2010.
That puts Pettis one, possibly two matches away from the belt himself. But first, he has to face Cerrone.
Cerrone lost to current contender Diaz last year, and like Pettis has since put together impressive back-to-back wins, with each fighter scoring a head-kick knockout in his last match.
Pettis says his shoulder injury is now completely healed and is expected to face Cowboy at UFC on Fox 6 on January 26, 2013, in Chicago.

Two of the heaviest hitters in the UFC, Quinton Jackson and Glover Teixeira, are set to finally meet at UFC on Fox 6 on January 26 in Chicago.
The match was initially scheduled for UFC 153, but an injury to Jackson led to Fabio Maldonado stepping up against his countryman Teixeira and getting absolutely mauled.
Both men are entering the contest for different reasons.
For Jackson, the match is his swansong as he runs out the last fight in his UFC contract and possibly looks to exit the promotion. For Teixeira, however, this is just another step in the journey toward an almost preordained title shot.
How far will those factors play into the fight when they eventually meet? Both men still have their strengths and weaknesses, which are broken down in the following slides.
Demetrious Johnson will defend his UFC Flyweight Championship for the first time live and free on FOX. He will tussle with John Dodson on January 26th at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.Dodson is 3-0 in the UFC with his last two victories coming…
Dodson is 3-0 in the UFC with his last two victories coming at featherweight. He is The Ultimate Fighter season 14 bantamweight champion. He will become the eighth TUF winner to challenge for a UFC championship.
Johnson won the UFC championship via a split decision victory over Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152 to become the first ever champion of the division.
Mighty Mouse and The Magician will lock horns in January, and this is how they stack up to one another.

UFC on Fox 6 is now official. The promotion is returning to Chicago for a championship bout between flyweights Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson as the main event.
The event is slated for January 26 at the United Center, which also played host to UFC on Fox 2 last January.
Like the last event, which featured a stacked card consisting of Rashad Evans, Phil Davis, Chael Sonnen, Michael Bisping, Demian Maia and Chris Weidman; the Fox 6 card looks equally packed.
The long-awaited light heavyweight clash between Rampage Jackson and Glover Teixeira is the co-main event. Donald Cerrone taking on Anthony Pettis is also on the card.
“Chicago is a great fight town and we’re excited to come back to the United Center on Jan. 26,” said UFC President Dana White (H/T MMA Junkie). “This will be our first big event on FOX for 2013, and we’ve lined up an incredible card, including the flyweight title fight.”
Tickets for the event go on sale to the general public on November 30, with pre-sale tickets available from the 28th.
Those interested will have to put down between $40 and $250 for seats, plus fees, which can be bought from Ticketmaster locations as well as the United Center box office.
The UFC is still figuring out the fourth fight on the main card, which MMA Junkie is speculating could feature any number of Chicago area fighters already on the billing. These are Erik Koch, Clay Guida or Mike Russow.
