Fares Ziam Steamrolls Matt Frevola with Horrifying Third-Round Knee Knockout - UFC Paris Highlights

Just when it looked like France’s Fares Ziam was on his way to a decisive decision victory, he put Matt Frevola’s lights out with a perfectly placed knee in the UFC Paris main card opener.

Riding a three-fight win streak, ‘Smile Killer’ was in the middle of a dominant performance against Frevola at Accor Arena and was well en route to a sweep on the scores. As we approached the three-minute mark of the third round, Ziam had Frevola’s back against the fence.

As ‘The Steamrolla’ attempted to turn himself to go belly-to-belly, Ziam launched a knee that caught Frevola flush on the chin and sent him crashing to the canvas.

With Frevola out on impact, the referee quickly stepped in and called for the stoppage.

Official Result: Fares Ziam def. Matt Frevola via KO (knee) at 2:59 of Round 3.

Ailin Perez Twerks in Her Opponent's Face Following 1st Round Arm Triangle - UFC Paris Highlights

Despite looking rough on the scale 36 hours earlier, rising contender Ailin Perez delivered another impressive showing inside the Octagon at UFC Paris.

Ailin Perez

Squaring off with Russian standout Darya Zheleznyakova in The City of Light, Perez promptly put her clinch game and grappling skills to work. Approaching the final minute of the round, Perez managed to muscle Zheleznyakova down to the mat and quickly worked her way into position for an arm triangle. Locking in the hold from half guard, ‘The Iron Lady’ had no choice but to tap out, handing Perez her first finish inside the Octagon.

Ailin Perez

Official Result: Ailin Perez def. Darya Zheleznyakova submission (arm triangle choke) at 3:52 of Round 1.

Immediately following the tap out, Perez popped to her feet and jumped straight into her patented twerking celebration. Adding insult to injury, she practically did it right in Zheleznyakova’s face and readjusted even as the Russian tried to move away from the Argentinian’s ample backside.

Ailin Perez

With the win, Perez is now 4-1 under the UFC banner and 11-2 overall.

Brendan Allen believes he, not Benoit Saint-Denis, deserves the spotlight as the headliner of the UFC Paris fight card.

The UFC is making its much-anticipated return to the “City of Lights” this weekend at the Accord Arena in Paris, exactly one year after its last event, with a Fight Night event packed with French talent.

Headlining the upcoming event is a lightweight showdown between Renato Moicano and Saint-Denis. Meanwhile, the co-main event promises fireworks as Allen faces Nassourdine Imavov in a high-stakes middleweight clash that could have serious implications in the division.

When announcing the fights last month, UFC CEO Dana White emphasized Allen’s seven-fight win streak, positioning him on the verge of title contention. Believing his bout holds greater weight, “All In” argues that, from a competitive standpoint, his matchup carries far more significance than the Moicano vs. Saint-Denis clash, which he feels lacks meaningful consequence.

Allen On Saint-Denis Headlining UFC Paris: ‘Just Put Him On The Card, People Will Still Come Watch’

During a recent interview with MMAFightingonSBN, Allen voiced his frustration over not being selected to headline UFC Paris. “All In” admitted he felt a slight sense of disrespect, considering his fight is a potential title eliminator yet was relegated to the co-main event. He argued that the Moicano vs. “God of War” matchup should have taken the co-headliner spot, given that neither fighter holds a high ranking in the division.

“I feel like it’s a little disrespectful to me and not just to me, but to Imavov as well,” Allen said. “Our fight has potential title implications wrapped around it, whereas this is #11 and #14 [#12], I think, if I’m not mistaken. The two guys in the main event should be the co-main event under us.”

Allen went on to say that while Saint-Denis is understandably popular in his home country, fans will show up regardless to support their fellow compatriot no matter his card position. However, the 28-year-old South Carolina native emphasized that both he and Imavov have global recognition

“I get it, Saint-Denis is super famous here, but at the end of the day, people are going to come watch the fight no matter what, whether he’s on the co-main or the main [event]. Just put him on the card—people are still going to come watch. But when it comes to worldwide MMA and fans, everyone knows me and Imavov are the real main event. I just felt, being as we’re so close to a title, one of us is obviously going to move forward into that potential opportunity. That’s why I feel like we should have fought five rounds.”

Benoit Saint-Denis Hopes to Land Rematch with Dustin Poirier After UFC Paris Headliner

Benoit Saint-Denis wants another crack at Dustin Poirier.

After coming up short against ‘The Diamond’ in March, Saint-Denis will look to bounce back when he headlines Saturday’s UFC card in The City of Light. Meeting him inside the Octagon will be streaking Brazilian standout Renato Moicano in a battle that could launch the winner into the lightweight division’s coveted top 10.

Benoit Saint-Denis

Speaking with the promotion ahead of his highly anticipated return at UFC Paris, the ‘God of War’ hopes that a decisive win against Moicano this weekend will earn him an opportunity to run it back with Poirier at some point.

“I fought a warrior and the only way to get back at him is to get the belt from Makhachev. The only thing Poirier doesn’t have is the undisputed UFC belt. Right now, I’m concentrating on Moicano, Moicano is my goal, getting that victory,” Saint-Denis told the promotion.“I’m very happy to be part of Dustin’s journey as a fighter because he is a great fighter, but I want it back. I will work for it and I have a lot of work to do” (h/t BJPenn.com).

After an exceptional opening round, Saint-Denis suffered a brutal knockout loss against Poirier in the second round of their UFC 299 clash.

Benoit Saint-Denis knows a win over ‘Money’ would be huge

With Poirier already having one foot outside the Octagon, it’s hard to imagine Saint-Denis ever booking a sequel scrap with ‘The Diamond.’ Regardless, ‘God of War’ only has one thing on his mind right now, and that’s getting his hand raised against another one of the lightweight division’s elite.

“I mean it’s huge, he’s only been losing to guys like Aldo, Ortega, Fiziev, top-five guys, elite guys, former champions stuff like that. Everything can go very fast with the UFC. it’s the way you fight, the way you engage, the way you promote fighting, and the UFC and mixed martial arts will give you the opportunity to rise and I’m here to do that,” Saint-Denis added.

Saint-Denis heads to Accor Arena on Saturday with an overall record of 13-2. Before his loss to Poirier, he was riding a five-fight win streak.
