A featherweight scrap between Josh Emmett and Michael Johnson will keep the UFC Philadelphia main card rolling on.

As always, Lowkickmma will have you covered with all the results from UFC on ESPN 2 as they happen.

Emmett (13-2) will make his return to the Octagon after more than a year away. He was a fast-rising contender before suffering his first loss inside the promotion last February. As for Johnson (19-13). After going through a rough patch that saw “The Menace” lose five of six fights, Johnson has found his groove and is riding a two-fight winning streak. Will he make it three?

Round One

Johnson takes to the center of the Octagon. He throws a lazy leg kick. Emmett shows a takedown but changes his mind. Both guys look to be taking in data on each other. Johnson pumps his jab as Emmett changes levels again. A bit of a chess match early on. Johnson throws a straight left hand. He follows with a right hand. Emmett throws a leg kick and again looks for an opportunity to take Johnson down. Johnson lands a jab, Emmett answers with a head kick that is mostly blocked. Johnson jabs the body and then goes high. Emmett showing good movement as he looks to get inside and land an overhand right. The round ends.

Round Two

Johnson cracks Emmett with a right hand to start. Emmett lands a switch kick. Johnson is doing a good job at staying just out of Emmett’s range. He lands another jab. Johnson’s faints are working great. Emmett lands a right hand. Both men using solid footwork to set up their boxing. Johnson doubles up on the jab. Emmett backs up and wings a right hand that buzzes by Johnson’s head. Johnson is fighting smooth tonight. He is finding his rhythm in round two. Emmett lands a body shot. He follows it up with a brief level change, then goes high with a kick. Johnson lands a body kick, Emmett returns but catches Johnson’s cup. The referee stops the fight and restarts it. Emmett looks for a takedown as the round ends.

Round Three

Emmett comes out for round three and presses the action. He fires off a one-two. Eemmett looks for another takedown but Johnson really looks good tonight. Johnson lands a left hand. He is out of range before Emmett can land. Johnson clips Emmett as he moves forward. He lands a body kick. The Alpha Male fighter has been desperately looking for the takedown. Emmett lands a right hand. Johnson wings a left. He throws a front kick, Emmett cracks him with a right hand that sends Johnson into night-night zone.

A women’s strawweight bout between Michelle Waterson and Karolina Kowalkiewicz will keep the show rolling at UFC Philadelphia.

Waterson (16-6) has won her last two fights inside the Octagon with her most recent victory coming over Felice Herrig at UFC 229. A win on Saturday night (March 30, 2019) could propel “The Karate Hottie” into title contention. As for Kowalkiewicz (12-3). She had her two-fight winning streak snapped in her last outing against Jéssica Andrade at UFC 228. Kowalkiewicz will try to avoid the second losing streak of her career.

Round One

Waterson quickly takes the center then Kowalkiewicz takes the position over. Waterson lands a leg kick, then another. Waterson throws a one-two. Kowalkiewicz throws a sidekick and a jab. Waterson flicks a side head kick out there. Kowalkiewicz lands a right hand. The American finds a home for her jab again. Fat start for Waterson. She throws a variety of kicks but Kowalkiewicz walks straight through. The Polish fighter tags Waterson with a flurry of punches. She presses Waterson into the cage and lands some knees. Waterson spins out and breaks free. She throws a spinning attack but misses everything. The round ends.

Rouond Two

Waterson pumps her jab to start the second round. Kowalkiewicz lands a right hand. She moves forward and throws a head kick. Waterson uses a sidekick targeting the knee of Kowalkiewicz. The Polish fighter lands another hard right hand. Waterson answers with a leg kick as she circles to her right. She throws Kowalkiewicz on her head and moves into side control. She is doing a good job at not rushing into anything as she is taking her time. Waterson lands some ground and pound and then looks for angles to exploit. Kowalkiewicz is trying to kick her legs up to create a scramble. Waterson is doing a great job controlling the position with less than one minute in the round. She continues to grind on the Polish fighter. She jumps on an arm and extends. It looks like it is in but Kowalkiewicz will have none. The round ends.

Round Three

Kowalkiewicz lands a jab to start the last round. She moves forward but Waterson lands a body kick. The American circles off and lands a sidekick. The fighters clinch and Waterson looks for the same throw but Kowalkiewicz defends this time. Kowalkiewicz is fighting with urgency here, she moves forward and lands a kick. She presses Waterson into the cage as both women fight for position. Waterson lands a couple of hard knees from the clinch. The women break and Waterson takes Kowalkiewicz down. She ends up in guard but lets Kowalkiewicz up to her feet. 60 seconds left. She cracks Kowalkiewicz with an elbow. She just misses a spinning back kick. The fight ends with Waterson throwing.

Paul Craig just pulled off a slick submission over Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC Philadelphia.

The card is broadcasting now (Sat. March 30, 2019) on ESPN from the Wells Fargo Center in Pennsylvania. Both men put on a great scrap leading into the third round, however, it was Craig who was able to take advantage of an attacking Nzechukwu from top position.

UFC Philadelphia rolls on with a light heavyweight contest between Scotland’s Paul Craig and Nigeria’s Kennedy Nzechukwu.

As always, Lowkickmma has you covered with all the results from UFC on ESPN 2 as they happen.

Craig (10-3) finds himself with his back against the wall going just 1-3 in his last four UFC outings. A win is likely necessary for Craig to keep his roster spot. As for Nzechukwu (6-0). The 26-year-old earned a contract on last season’s Contender Series by defeating Dennis Bryant with a head kick. He will look to make a big splash in his official debut.

Round One

Craig rushes across the octagon and throws a leg kick. He goes high with a kick to follow. Craig looks for a single leg but Nzechukwo lands some hard elbows. Craig works through it and locks in an elbow lock. Nzechukwu powers out of it. Craig locks in another arm lock and again Nzechukwu finds a way to defend it. Craig dives for the Nigerians legs and looks for a takedown. Nzechukwu is doing a good job defending the takedown. Craig dives on an ankle and figure fours Nzechukwu’s leg. The Nigerian powers out again. Nzechukwu lands a hard left knee to Craig’s head as Craig was looking for a takedown. The round ends with both fighters in an exchange.

Round Two

Craig takes to the center of the cage and pumps his jab. Nzechukwu throws a head kick, Craig moves through it and dives on his legs. Nzechukwu keeps grabbing the fence to stop the takedown. Craig finally gets the fight to the ground but Nzechukwu starts to drop some hard punches and elbows on Craig. He steps off and lets Craig up to his feet. Craig throws a knee straight up the middle and clips the groin of Nzechukwu. The fight resumes and the Nigerian throws a head kick and moves forward. The fight tempo has slowed here in round two. A jab finds its place as Nzechukwu executes nicely. The bell sounds as Craig dives for a takedown.

Round Three

Craig comes out with a one-two. Nzechukwu throws a right hook that misses the mark. Both fighters look a bit tentative here to start. The Nigerian lands a hard knee to Craig’s abdomen. Craig dives on Nzechukwu’s legs but it’s not there. Nzechukwu pokes Craig in the eye again. This time the fight is stopped and the referee takes a point from Nzechukwu. The fight resumes. Three minutes left in the fight. Nzechukwu is pressing forward and defending Craig’s takedowns. Craig digs but Nzechukwu moves into side control and opens up some ground and pound. Craig finds his way into full guard but Nzechukwu opens up. Craig locks in a triangle, this time he gets the tap. Wow.
