Cody Garbrandt has had an interesting day.

The UFC bantamweight contender stormed out of an interview in search of Dominick Cruz, but was more composed during an appearance on “UFC Tonight.”

Garbrandt, unbeaten in his career, takes on Cruz for the UFC title Friday night at UFC 207.

“The key to beating Dominick is cutting off the cage,” Garbrandt said. “Staying calm and patient, and sticking to what I know.

“He knows that I’m a better fighter.”

A member of Team Alpha Male, Garbrandt believes that the new coaches in the gym are the difference and why Cruz consistently has gotten the better of the camp in the past.

The two have also taken some of the headlines away from the main event by getting personal in interviews.

“He’s trying to (make it personal), trying to make me irritable,” Garbrandt said. “I gotta stay calm (come fight-night).”

UFC light heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier may have been a bit excited to celebrate his rise up to No. 3 on the UFC pound-for-pound ranks, because he got into a brutal lemon drinking contest with co-host Kenny Florian on UFC Tonight this evening.

Cormier was handily winning the contest, which was an effort to break UFC featherweight Dennis Bermudez’s Guinness World Record for drinking a full liter of lemon juice through a straw in 22.75 seconds, until the whole scene fell apart when Cormier blasted a snot rocket out of his nose when the sour juice became too much.

Have a look at the hilarious impromptu moment:

With UFC on FOX 19 set for this Saturday night, the recent edition of “UFC Tonight” was used to promote the card.

Co-hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier each offered up a fighter to watch, with both sticking away from the “obvious” selections and digging a little deeper.

Florian picked Rose Namajunas, who meets Tecia Torres in the new co-main event in a likely title-eliminator bout at strawweight.

“Rose Namajunas is a completely different fighter than the one you saw in the Ultimate Fighter finale,” Florian said. “Everything is really coming together for her not only on a technical level but mentally she is just way more mature as a fighter. She can really do it all.”

For Cormier, he went with Islam Makhachev, as the Sambo world champion takes on Drew Dober in a lightweight bout that kicks off the televised prelims.

“My fighter to watch is Islam Makhachev. He lost his last fight but had moved up very fast,” Cormier said. “This young man is unbelievable. In the time since his last fight, he’s won another Sambo World Championship. I’ve been with him in training camp, the dude is a monster with unbelievable wrestling and great cardio.”
