Jessica Aguilar has addressed being pulled from the UFC Utica event.

It’s been well documented that Aguilar was slated to fight Jodie Esquibel in a women’s strawweight bout as part of the Fight Pass preliminary card for the UFC Utica event this past weekend (June 1, 2018) at Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York.

Just an hour before the event went live on the promotion’s streaming service, it was revealed that the New York State Athletic Commission decided to scrap the fight despite giving the thumbs up the previous day due to Aguilar having chapped lips.

After the event had concluded, Aguilar took to her official Instagram account to issue a statement on being pulled from the event by writing the following in the caption of a video that she posted:

“Hey guys! Here’s a little update on the BS that went down today right before my fight. I am super disappointed and heartbroken, this is the second fight in a row canceled.

I want to clear things up. The commission had a concern regarding my lips and my use of chapstick during the physical exam prior to weigh-ins so they requested that I be cleared by a dermatologist.

So right after weigh-ins the commission rush me to get clearance which I was granted by the dermatologist. But tonight, at the arena, the commission struck again and canceled the fight. You can’t reason with this commission, it kinda felt personal. ?I am hopeful the @UFC will rebook our fight ASAP.”

Obviously, this is a weird situation and there’s a good chance that the UFC will book this women’s strawweight bout once again at an upcoming event.

Time will tell how the Las Vegas-based promotion handles the booking of these two fighters.

Last night (June 1, 2018), heavyweights Walt Harris and Daniel Spitz did battle on the main card of UFC Utica.

Harris ended up picking up a second-round TKO victory over Spitz, but it appears as if both men left the cage banged up.

Harris took to his official Instagram page to comment on the victory in a picture of him going to a hospital before revealing he broke his foot in the first round:

“We got it done baby! 2nd round KO! Bad news is I think I broke my foot in the first round! Thanks you all for your love and support it means the world to me!”

Spitz then followed that up on his loss where he was immediately rushed from the octagon prior to Harris being announced the winner, reportedly because of a cut on his head.

Spitz then revealed on his official Instagram page that he had broken his arm within the first 30 seconds of the fight:

It looks as if both men will likely be out of action for some time.

Fighter Who Knocked Himself Out Goes Ballistic On Twitter

The fighter who knocked himself out at UFC Utica is going off on his haters:

An extremely odd way of winning took place at last night’s (Fri., June 1, 2018) UFC Fight Night 131 from the Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, New York, when flyweight Jarred Brooks was knocked out by his own takedown against the debuting Jose Torres.

Despite coming in as a touted former Titan FC champion, Torres was dropped early on by a spinning backfist from Brooks. But when Brooks scooped up Torres for a big slam in the second round, the tables were turned when “Shorty” adjusted enough to drop Brooks on his head and daze him.

A path then opened for a few quick follow-up punches that sealed the deal. Watch the bizarre stoppage right here:

The strange victory gave Torres a triumphant UFC debut in the oddest of ways, but Brooks understandably isn’t dropping the subject.

He took to Twitter the morning after the fight to talk smack, saying that he would beat Torres “9 out of 10 times” and the tenth would only be when he knocked himself out:

“Your lucky that I knocked myself out and you didn’t do sh*t to me that whole fight. Just seen your after fight interview well played but if we run that shit back I beat you 9 times out of 10 and the only time you do is me KOing myself!”

Brooks fired back at a fan that told him he got knocked out, saying it ‘sure as f***’ wasn’t Torres who knocked him out:

Things got more heated from there when another ‘fan’ gave him a ‘pro tip’ not to knock himself out, however. Brooks posted his home address online and dared the fan to come and say that to his face:

Brooks’ UFC record is now 1-2, but it could easily be 2-1 if he had not been the unfortunate victim of this rare and unlikely event.

He’s understandably mad about the defeat, and his haters online certainly aren’t helping. Offering his home address online for them to come to find him isn’t either.
