Giga Chikadze is targeting the big names now.

Chikadze earned the biggest win of his career after a liver kick earned him a first-round TKO win over featherweight veteran Cub Swanson in the UFC Vegas 25 co-headliner last night.

It put the Georgian on a six-fight winning streak in the UFC and he feels he is now ready for the elite 145-pounders. That was evident when he called for fights with former champion Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar.

“I was in Georgia when Max fought Calvin,” Chikadze said at the post-fight press conference (via MMA Junkie). “I was doing commentary for the fight, and I enjoyed this fight, and every time he was doing something nice I was like, ‘I want to fight him. I want to fight him.’

“I feel like after this type of performance, I might get it – if not, then I might get (Kattar).”

In reality, it’s highly unlikely Chikadze gets either of them as he is still unranked while Swanson wasn’t a ranked opponent either. However, if he continues to keep winning and finish people like he’s done in his last two fights, it’ll only be a matter of time.

As for the liver kick he landed on Swanson? That’s something he’s become accustomed to for a while now.

“I’ve been in this moment many times with my kick,” Chikadze added. “My liver kick – my ‘Giga kick’ – this type of kick that you hurt somebody but they’re still not unconscious, they still feel everything and they can see it. It kind of blocks your body to do everything.

“I’ve been doing this in karate and kickboxing and I’ve had this type of experience every time. When I felt that, I realized I had already won the fight. I saw what the referee was doing and because he did’t stop me I continued just to make him think that it’s over.”

What do you think of Chikadze’s chances against the elite?

Blachowicz Prochazka

Light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz certainly kept an eye on the UFC Vegas 25 headliner last night.

Jiri Prochazka met Dominick Reyes in the headliner and delivered one of the greatest two-round fights of all time as it was a back-and-forth war throughout.

However, Prochazka was the one leading the dance more and eventually earned the victory following a brutal spinning elbow that put the lights out on Reyes.

The performance was so impressive that many observers even called for Prochazka to get the next title shot over Glover Teixeira. And Blachowicz teased that prospect after the event.

“Hey @jiri_bjp. Me vs you in Cieszyn?? Prince vs ?? Samurai Sword vs Katana? #LegendaryPolishPower”

Of course, Blachowicz would clarify that Teixeira would still be next which is good news for the Brazilian. However, Blachowicz did make sure to point out that there was context to his original tweet.

“For all those who do not know the Slavic context of the previous post and its humorous nature.Of course, Glovera is the next contender. I always keep my word ??. #LegendaryPolishPower”

So what was the context of Blachowicz’s tweet?

“Cieszyn is a town right on the Poland-Czech Republic border. It has a lot of historical significance for both countries. Bottom line: Central Europe has two of the best light heavyweights in the world right now.”

If things pan out, we might just see this central European clash before the end of the year.

Czech Republic standout, Jiri ‘Denisa’ Prochazka will likely compete for UFC light heavyweight gold in his next outing — and with good reason. Headlining UFC Vegas 25, the unorthodox striker stopped former title challenger, Dominick Reyes with a vicious spinning back elbow in the second round.

Bringing his reckless and unconventional style in tandem with him to the Octagon for the main event, Prochazka broke Reyes’ nose in the first round with massive straights and combinations at the fence, likely taking the round with a 10-9 on all three judge’s scorecards.

Despite starting well in the second after some of the adversity in the opening, Reyes was still eating some significant shots at the fence — with blood leaking from his nose, which he had broken just last September against current light heavyweight best, Jan Blachowicz.

Wobbling Prochazka and forcing a double-leg takedown attempt from the #5 ranked contender, Reyes pulled guard for a guillotine, however, Prochazka eventually slipped his head out.

Returning to the feet, Prochazka once more backed the Hesperia native back to the fence and following an elbow on the break, Prochazka spun with a devastating spinning back elbow, knocking Reyes unconscious, who fell face-first to the Octagon canvas.

Below, catch the highlights from Prochazka’s stunning knockout win over Reyes.
