Stepping into the Octagon for an unprecedented 42nd time, ‘A-10’ scored the knockout of the night finishing debutant Jesse Butler just 23 seconds into their UFC Vegas 74 clash. Both fighters came out swinging in the opening seconds with Miller putting pressure on Butler early. Backing his opponent up against the fence, Miller threw a picture-perfect counter-left hook that caught Butler on the button and sent him crashing to the canvas. Miller followed it up with a left uppercut that turned out Butler’s lights, forcing referee Mark Smith to step in and stop the action.
Official Result: Jim Miller def. Jesse Butler via KO (strikes) at 0:23 or Round 1.
With the win, Jim Miller scored his 25th career victory under the UFC banner and netted the fastest finish of his decade-and-a-half-long career. Looking as good as ever, ‘A-10’ is still intent on making it to UFC 300 next year and becoming the only fighter to have competed at UFC 100, 200, and 300.

With little money to his name, Themba Gorimbo revealed that welterweight gatekeeper Colby Covington went out of his way to bring him food while he was training for his UFC Vegas 73 bout.
Themba Gorimbo picked up a big win on Saturday night, besting Takashi Sato in the evening’s opening bout to become the first Zimbabwean fighter to score a victory inside the Octagon. It was a much-needed W after coming up short in his promotional debut against A.J. Fletcher three months prior. Following the contest, Gorimbo addressed members of the media at a post-fight press event where he revealed that following his unsuccessful first appearance, many friends and family members chose to cut ties with him.
“I want to be honest; I know it might hit some people, but the truth must be told as it is, if you love me or hate me, it is what it is. But it kind of hit me that after the fight, my coaches went to a party, whatever. I was in that room all by myself, crying, crying over myself,” Gorimbo said.
“Everyone just kind of moved away. Straight after my loss, when I got home. Everybody [looked at me] like a guy that was smelling like sh*t. You know, people kind of ignored me. People that I helped kind of ignored me. A lot of people, even people that were close to me, some of them are called my friends…even my own brother, man. I love my brother because my brother is my blood at the end of the day. But the truth must be told me; it hurts me so much that I do so much for people.
“Bro, I do so much for people. People might not tell you, but I do so much for people back home. And for them to do what they did to me, I hope the Lord forgives them.”
Themba Gorimbo Calls Colby Covington a ‘Great Guy’ Following First UFC Win
Determined to make the most of his opportunity, Gorimbo changed coaches and moved his training camp to MMA Masters in Miami once he had booked a second fight inside the Octagon. After making the expensive trip, ‘The Answer’ had just $7 left in his bank account going into fight week. Fortunately, Gorimbo received some much-needed help from an unexpected source.
“Colby Covington, he is such a great guy, man. Colby Covington sometimes would bring food for me at the gym,” Gorimbo said. “People say what they say and want to avoid him, but that guy’s a great man. You have to know him to kind of know him. Just like me…You know, at the end of the day is business.”
Scoring a win in his sophomore appearance, Themba Gorimbo will see his bank account once again replenished. With the money, he hopes to permanently relocate from Africa to Miami in the near future.

No. 8 ranked contender Mackenzie Dern looked to continue her climb up the strawweight rankings as she squared off with the always-active Angela Hill in the UFC Vegas 73 main event on Saturday night. Hill, sitting in the No. 14 spot in the rankings, had a chance to thrust herself into the division’s top ten, should she leave The APEX with arguably the biggest win of her mixed martial arts career.
Both women came out ready to throw hands from the opening bell. Surprisingly, Dern appeared to have the advantage on the feet which allowed her to put pressure on Hill early. Throwing ‘Overkill’ off-balance with some beautiful striking, Dern was able to take things to the mat where she nearly locked in an arm bar, but simply ran out of time in the opening round.
Hill was able to slow things down and potentially even things up in the second round, but the pace most certainly picked up again in the third with Dern landing a massive knee that rocked Hill. Dern took the opportunity to drag Hill to the canvas once again and easily slipped into a full mount. Dern delivered an onslaught of strikes, but Hill continued moving and defending, preventing the ref from stepping in. Miraculously, Hill survived the round.
The final 10 minutes of the contest was all Dern as the Brazilian jiu-jitsu beauty took Hill down at will and punished her for a majority of the remaining two rounds en route to a unanimous decision victory.
Official Result: Mackenzie Dern def. Angela Hill via unanimous decision (49-43, 49-44, 45-44)

After dropping back-to-back bouts against Nassourdine Imavov and Chris Curtis at middleweight, Buckley made the drop to 170 for his bout with Andre Fialho. Both men walked into the matchup in need of a victory. After nearly two rounds of action, it was ‘New Mansa’ who would have his hand raised, blasting Fialho with a vicious head kick with less than a minute left in the second. Fialho crashed to the canvas as referee Kerry Hatley rushed in, but stopped short of calling for the stoppage. That encouraged Buckley to land a nasty uncontested hammer fist, at which point Hatley shoved Buckley away and signaled for the stoppage.
With the victory, Buckley moved to 6-4 under the UFC banner and 16-6 overall. Fialho fell to 2-4 inside the Octagon, 16-7 overall. Fialho has now lost three straight.
Official Result: Joaquin Buckley def. Andre Fialho via KO (head kick) at 4:15 of Round 2

Ferreira was desperate to get back into the win column after coming up short in his last three contests. Ferrerira followed his opponent to the canvas, landing another blow for good measure, but it was quite unnecessary and Ferreira apologized profusely for doing so once the referee stepped in and called for the stoppage.
With the victory, Diego Ferreira improved to 9-5 inside the Octagon and 18-5 overall while Michael Johnson dropped to 13-15 under the UFC banner, 21-19 overall. ‘The Menace’ has now alternated wins and losses in his last four appearances.
