This UFC 211 bout is kind of a make or break fight for both fighters! Henry Cejudo has matched expectations thus far, but is now in a sticky spot courtesy of a defeat at the hands of Joseph Benavidez. On the other end of the octagon is going to be Sergio Pettis who started off weak but has really turned the tables around thanks to his victory against the very reputable Chris Cariaso and not to mention a formidable win against John Moraga, both former contenders to the title.

While Cejudo will be keen to get back to winning ways, Pettis will do everything in his power to keep his winning run going. This is precisely what will make this match highly interesting. However, we believe Cejudo has the upper hand is the favorite here, he simply has a tad too much quality and experience for Pettis to deal with. If Pettis wants to stand a chance of actually causing an upset result, he will have to bring his A game for sure, or maybe even more.

For our prediction, while Pettis is certainly a fighter with good potential, we simply cannot see him outdoing the brute strength, technicality and agility of Henry Cejudo. Having said that, over confidence could prove to be the demise of Cejudo here. We will have to go with Henry Cejudo for the win by unanimous decision.

UFC 211 Predictions: Demian Maia Vs. Jorge Masvidal

When it comes to recent form, Demian Maia (24 – 6) has a pretty strong case in his favor. He has six consecutive wins to his name in his past six fights and is looking sharp and dangerous. Maia fights in the welterweight division, but this is not where he started off. Maia was originally […]

When it comes to recent form, Demian Maia (24 – 6) has a pretty strong case in his favor. He has six consecutive wins to his name in his past six fights and is looking sharp and dangerous. Maia fights in the welterweight division, but this is not where he started off. Maia was originally a middleweight prior to dropping to 170 lbs. While fighting in the middleweight division, he did not necessarily enjoy the same kind of success as he does now. He had ups and downs. However, since entering the welterweight division, Maia has looked pretty ruthless. He started off in the division with wins against some of the divisions best fighters such as Dong-Hyun Kim, Rick Story and Jon Fitch.

Maia’s strong suits most certainly include his grappling game, when the fight gets horizontal, Maia has some insidious grips and techniques which will have even the toughest fighters tapping out.

On the other hand, Jorge Masvidal is eager to, in his own words, “take out all the guys they (the UFC) don’t like”. Masvidal to has reignited his career with a move to the welterweight division and he will be looking to go from UFC’s go-to hitman to an actual title contender, a champion!

However, while Masvidal is not low on confidence, does he really have what it takes to take out Demian Maia? We think if the fight goes to ground, then Masvidal may just run out of gas. For this UFC 211 prediction, we are going with Maia to win by unanimous decision.

UFC 211 Predictions: Joanna Jedrzejczky vs. Jessica Andrare

The way the UFC classify their different weight categories is surely something that is hugely impacting a lot many female fighters. The UFC is not exactly quick to act and adopt new weight categories and this results in many of the female fighters either having to face much larger opposition or shed weight (and inevitably a bit of strength in the process). Jessica Andrade who with a record of 16 – 5 knows about this struggle all too well being undersized at 135 lbs and taking on some considerably bigger fighters in the division and yet managed to get some wins to her name.

However, since she scaled down to 115 lbs and dropped to a lower weight division she right away established herself as one of the best in the category when she defeated Jessica Penne pretty convincingly.

Now, she takes on Joanna Jedrzejczky in UFC 211 and this is going to be her title shot. Jedrzejczky is certainly going to be the toughest challenge for Jedrzejczky yet and it is going to be very interesting to see what the outcome is. Jedrzejczky herself, has been on the rise ever since she beat Carla Esparza in 2015 to take the title. She has been on fire and has successfully defended the title as many as 4 times until now. Considering her immaculate form and sky high confidence, it is no surprise that we are predicting Jedrzejczky will take the victory by unanimous decision.

UFC 211 kicks off at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX on May 13. Stipe Miocic vs. Junior Dos Santos will be the featured headline fight of the evening, and everyone will have their eyes set on this heavyweight duel between the UFC heavyweight champ  Miocic and Dos Santos. When it comes to records, Miocic stands at 16-2 and Dos Santos at 18-4.

On the books, Miocic is the favorite going in, but only marginally. Miocic, who hails from Cleveland, has a background in boxing and is also very athletic and has nicely converted these skills and abilities to create a very solid package indeed as an MMA fighter.

In 2014, it was actually Dos Santos that emerged victorious when the two fighters met. Had Miocic been able to steal the win back then, he would have been crowned the elite heavyweight. However, the fight went to the scorecards and Junior Dos Santos came out on top.

This defeat, however, has acted as a catalyst and motivated Miocic to get better. Since this loss, Miocic went on to win the title in 2016 and then successfully defended it against Alistair Overeem in September of 2016.

So what is going to happen when the two actually face off come UFC 211? Well, while Junior Dos Santos is an exceptional fighter, he is more or less the same as he was back in 2014 when he beat Miocic, but on the other hand, Miocic has visibly gotten better, way better. If we had to make a prediction, we would put our money on Miocic winning by unanimous decision.

UFC Fight Night 108 – Hector Sandoval Vs. Matt Schnell 135 lbs

Hector Sandoval deserves praise just for taking on Wilson Reis in his Octagon debut when called upon as replacement for Demetrious Johnson. Obviously, Sandoval was not expected to win, and he didn’t, but Sandoval showed fighting spirit! His next time out, he faced Colombian Olympian Fredy Serrrano and came out victorious via a decision. Sandoval […]

Sandoval is now going to face Matt Schnell (10 – 3) who at 5’8″ can still pack quite a punch. Schnell is the current interim Legacy FC Flyweight Champion. Like Sandoval, his debut too was one where he was not the favorite by any stretch of the imagination as he fought Rob Font and suffered the first knockout defeat of his career.

Schnell has won six of his eight victories via submission and two via knock out. He is a pretty balanced fighter who is good all round.  Is he going to be the jack of all and master of none? or will he be able to prove his mettle when he comes face to face against Hector Sandoval?

Schell certainly has a height advantage since he is a whole 6 feet taller, but Sandoval knows Schnell’s weak point – his defending against take downs and he will certainly be looking to capitalize.

This is one more fight which is going to be very close in our opinion. If we had to choose a winner here, we will have to go with Sandoval via a unanimous decision.
