UFC 232 got off to a fast start as the early prelims proved to be very entertaining. Capped off by Uriah Hall’s brutal KO of Bevon Lewis.

The up and down Hall found his grove midway through the second round. He then found a home for a perfectly placed right hand that sent Lewis to the canvas.

Hall (14-9) is slowly developing a repuation as a come from behind fighter. He has always had a killer finishing instinct, however, consistancy has been his major flaw.

This is a huge win for Hall, who can now enter 2019 on a high note.

Uriah Hall returns at the upcoming UFC 232 pay-per-view event as the Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced his next fight.

Uriah Hall Returns Against…

The UFC announced that Hall would take on Bevon Lewis in a middleweight bout. This is the latest addition to December’s UFC 232 lineup.

When entering this fight, Hall looks to get back to his winning ways. He has had a difficult time inside the cage the past several years after being hyped as the next big thing earlier in his career. He has only won one fight since November of 2015.

He has come a long way since his highlight reel spinning back kick during his tenure on the Ultimate Fighter. He has dropped four of his past five contests with loses to Paulo Costa, Gegard Mousasi, Derek Brunson, and Robert Whittaker.

On the flip side, Lewis earned this opportunity when he picked up two victories on Dana White’s Contender Series. His recent fight saw him score first round TKO win of Alton Cunningham in July.

The UFC 232 pay-per-view event is set to take place on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card will air on pay-per-view at 10 p.m. ET while the preliminary card will air on FOX Sports 1 at 8 p.m. ET and the promotion’s streaming service, UFC Fight Pass. The promotion will be announcing more bouts in the coming weeks. Here is the updated card:

Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson – for light heavyweight title
Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes
Corey Anderson vs. Ilir Latifi
Ryan Hall vs. B.J. Penn
Arnold Allen vs. Gilbert Melendez
Michael Chiesa vs. Carlos Condit
Megan Anderson vs. Cat Zingano
Tom Duquesnoy vs. Nathaniel Wood
Uriah Hall vs. Bevon Lewis

Paulo Costa may be the most powerful rising contender in mixed martial arts (MMA) right now.

The hulking Brazilian knockout artist has surged to four straight wins since debuting in the UFC in March 2017. His most recent win came over longtime vet Uriah Hall in a bad blood-fueled bout at July’s UFC 226. The win earned him a perceived shot at former interim title challenger Yoel Romero at November 3’s UFC 230 from New York City.

That bout fell apart, unfortunately, when “The Soldier of God” was forced to heal from facial injuries. That put Costa’s return timetable on hold for the time being. However, it’s not affecting his extremely lofty career goals as a result.

Costa recently told Ag Fight (via Bloody Elbow) that he’s aiming to win three UFC titles and retire. He claimed he can fight at welterweight, middleweight, and light heavyweight:

“My career plan is simply to retain three belts and retire. I can fight at welterweight, middleweight and light heavyweight. I want to do boxing afterwards, before I turn 35. Who was a plan B never accomplishes plan A or B. You can’t have a plan B in life. When you have a plan B, you’ll give up in the first adversity you face. So what did I do? I said I would never have a plan B. My only one is plan A.”

Accomplishing those goals would obviously rank Costa as one of the best UFC fighters of all-time – if not the best. But it’s tough to doubt him at this current point of his career.

Costa has racked up a spotless 12-0 record in MMA, and he’s finished every single one of those wins. He now owns the No. 8 spot on the official UFC rankings at middleweight There’s little doubt he’s fully deserving of a fight against someone like Romero, a scary thought considering he only made his octagon debut last year.

His full focus is on becoming UFC champion. To him, he never had any other plan because he simply couldn’t afford one:

“I never had money to catch the bus to go train, nor to buy my supplements. I spent six months away from home, I spent Christmas, New Year’s, everything, away from my family, with no means to go visit them, I simply soldiered through all that, because I had no plan B.”

Uriah Hall Expected For Octagon Return At UFC 232

Hall is back!

Uriah Hall is expected to return to the Octagon very soon.

“Prime Time” has had a difficult time inside the cage the past several years. He has only won one fight since November of 2015.

In that time, Hall has fallen to top middleweights such as Robert Whittaker, Derek Brunson, Gegard Mousasi and Paulo Costa. His only win in that timeframe came in September of last year. The former Ultimate Fighter runner-up defeated Krzysztof Jotko via second round TKO.

BJPenn.com is reporting Hall is in discussions to return at UFC 232. The pay-per-view (PPV) goes down from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 29, 2018. His opponent is said to be Bevon Lewis.

Lewis is undefeated thus far into his mixed martial arts (MMA) career at 6-0. He made quite the impression on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Lewis knocked out Alton Cunningham in the first round via TKO.

This is a big test for Lewis and he could really make a name for himself with a win over Hall. As for “Prime Time,” a loss to a UFC newcomer might prod the promotion to cut ties with the veteran.

UFC 232 is expected to be headlined by a women’s featherweight title fight between Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes.

Kevin Lee Fears Death Is Inevitable With Current Weight Cutting Protocols

Kevin Lee thinks someone has to die before the UFC makes any changes to its weight cutting protocol.

Weight cutting continues to be a hot topic in MMA.

Kevin Lee is the latest fighter to voice his concerns about the weight cutting problems the sport is facing and has been one of the biggest advocates for a proposed 165-pound weight class.

Speaking with MMA Fighting’s Luke Thomas on the latest edition of The MMA Hour, the “Motown Phenom” has no plans of quieting down.

“Everybody knows that this weight-cutting thing is a problem, but nobody is coming up with no ******* solutions,” Lee said. “Everybody is kind of waiting for somebody to die. And I don’t feel like that’s the right thing to do. I think you have to take at least one step in the right direction and then just see how it goes. There’s really no downside to it.”

The California State Athletic Commision (CSAC) and the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports (ABC) have been at the forefront of the extreme weight cutting dilemma instituting a 10-point reform plan in the last year and approving the 165-pound weight class. The UFC is yet to open up any new divisions including the super welterweight class Lee has been so vocal about.

“Most people, especially 155ers that I talk to, they all want it,” Lee said. “We all are about the same size. A lot of these [lightweights] are [185, 190]. … We’re all doing the same thing to compete against each other. It doesn’t make sense. If we can make it a little bit safer and we can make it a little bit more fair, that’s all I’m calling for. Just a fair, even playing field for me to go out there and compete with somebody without having to kill myself to do it.”

“There’s so many guys, there’s so much talent,” Lee said. “The talent is there. It’s the same thing they said about adding 125 for the women. Yeah, it’s gonna take some time to cultivate that, but I think it’s gonna even be easier, because you have so many guys in between these weight classes right now that could fill that up. Where it’s at is the talent is always gonna show up.”

The 25-year-old Lee currently fights in the lightweight division, a weight that he has had an increasingly hard time making. Lee’s struggles to make 155 pounds were on full display at UFC 216 last October, a weight cut that he said, “damn near killed him”.

“That’s what it’s gonna take,” Lee said. “It’s unfortunate. And people kind of gloss over it, too. Uriah Hall, who I train with, the man had a seizure cutting weight for fights. It kind of gets swept under the rug. And it kind of goes, ‘Oh, he was doing his own thing.’ … The man had a seizure getting ready for a fight. That’s not a joke. It’s more serious than I think people realize. And it’s my health on the line, too, along with it. If all I gotta do is just step up and talk about it and try and make some change happen, then that’s what I’m gonna do. But the rest of these mother f*ckers, they’re too scared. They won’t do it, because they don’t want to step up and say what they really feel.”

The “Motown Phenom” is under the belief that it’s going to take something tragic for the UFC to make any real significant changes to status quo.
