UFC Middleweight Uriah Hall has taken shots at his former scheduled opponent Yoel Romero after he pulled out from the booked bout between the two.

After sharing a poster for his upcoming fight against UFC great Aderson Silva a fan commented stating that he wished Hall was still booked to face Romero expressing that this would help the Middleweight move up the rankings. Hall responded to this comment expressing his disregard for the rankings and taking aim at Romero for pulling out of the fight.

“fuck the rankings it’s a joke there’s no way I’m gonna sit around and have a bunch of motherfuckers that don’t know me tell me where I am “ranked” and I will fight that bitch he punted out because he knew I was going to destroy his ass the only reason why he didn’t want to fight me because Jones left the light heavyweight belt so his bitch ass decided to move up”

There has been no official announcement from Romero or his team regarding a shift in weight classes, however, this is something the fighter had spoken of in the past citing his former training partner Jon Jones as a reason not to make the move.

While the Romero fight is off for Hall he will be facing the legendary Anderson Silva on October 31. According to the former champion, this will likely be his last fight. “Maybe this is my last fight. That’s why I’m training hard every day, doing my best. My whole team has come to help me. Everybody is in quarantine to start training. I’m very excited because I think this is my last performance inside the cage, for my fans. We’ll see” Silva said to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. Silva comes into this fight on a two-fight losing streak to top-five ranked contender Jared Cannonier and the champion Israel Adesanya. Hall enters this matchup the opposite with a streak of two wins.

Yoel Romero may not be competing later this month.

Romero was set to face Uriah Hall in a middleweight contest on the UFC’s upcoming August 22 card.

However, that will no longer be the case according to BJPenn.com who report that Romero has been forced out of the bout for undisclosed reasons. Multiple sources confirmed the news but asked for anonymity as the UFC is yet to comment on the supposed situation.

Romero was looking to return to the win column with a potential victory over Hall. “The Soldier of God” is riding a three-fight losing streak after decision defeats to Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa and most recently, middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Hall, meanwhile, was hoping to earn arguably the biggest win of his career against Romero. “Prime Time” is currently enjoying a two-fight winning streak after victories over Bevon Lewis and Antonio Carlos Junior.

Unfortunately, it looks like a bout with Romero will have to be on the backburner for now.

Who do you think Hall should face next instead?

Popular welterweight Mike Perry has begun training with middleweight contender Yoel Romero in South Florida.

Perry picked up a win over Mickey Gall last time out with just his girlfriend working his corner. Post-fight he expressed a desire to find some elite-level training partners to help take his game to the next level. Romero is someone ‘Platinum’ was specifically looking to work with and Perry even spoke about relocating to Miami to do so ahead of a fight with Darren Till at middleweight, he said.

“I mean, she likes California but we like Florida too. South Florida has got a lot of good guys and I kinda want to work with Yoel Romero. I want to get some beef inside of myself to feel that 185lb weight class. I wanna learn how to fight one of the best guys there so I can fight a middleweight Englishman (Darren Till). You know who I’m talking about. I want to fight that guy. He doesn’t deserve to have his name come out of my mouth. He’s a despicable person. I can’t lie, I’m not that big – I need to feel that. I do want to train with Yoel Romero, he knows I want to come out there. We have the same management team him and Jorge Masvidal.

“I just want to get better so I can build for us and Platinum Martial Arts. I know I gotta look and out and find some more experience and it’s time for that now. We want to do that, we are probably coming to Miami bro to be honest with you. So, I look forward to training with Yoel.”

Perry took to social media over the weekend to reveal he had been taking part in “terrorizing workouts” with Romero. Check out the photo he posted to Instagram below.

Uriah Hall

Middleweight contender Uriah Hall has revealed his plan to knockout Yoel Romero on August 22 to move one step closer to a shot at 185lb champion Israel Adesanya. The Ultimate Fighter runner-up has also expressed a desire to face Darren Till after he wins so he can really cement himself as the number one contender at middleweight.

Hall was supposed to fight ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 249 but his Brazilian opponent tested positive for COVID-19 and the fight was scrapped. Now, ‘Primetime’ finds himself in an even bigger fight, a fight he has been chasing for some time now.

“I’ve wanted Yoel for so long,” Hall told MMA Junkie. “Yoel’s one of the best. He’s an elite. This is the baddest, toughest and now I’m realizing is the best sport in the world, and why would I not want to test myself against the best. If I’m going to be in the best sport in the world, why wouldn’t I want to go up against the best?”

Hall went on to explain how he will beat Romero and who he wants to face next, he said.

“I know the type of fights that will bring the best out of me stylistically and I’m trying to get to Izzy,” Hall said. “I’m trying to get to him and in doing so I think taking out Yoel was solidify that spot. If they want to throw Darren Till out there I would love to smash him too, but I’m just trying to climb the ladder.”

The 35-year-old believes he is in his fighting prime right now and wants to show the world that by knocking out Romero next month.

“I’m not trying to fight Yoel to survive, I’m trying to fight him to take him out,” Hall said. “I feel like I’m in my prime. I thought I was in my prime at 28, I’m definitely in my prime now. Regardless of what the UFC wants to give or show, I’m ready. I’m ready to show those attributes and a guy like Yoel, you’ve got to go after him. You’ve got to fight him. I just want to go after him. I’m excited to go after him. I’m not going to be reckless or careless because that dude hits like a truck, but I’m trying to get a title shot. My main focus is to get to the champ. I’m not even looking at the belt. Izzy is the trophy. I want to fight his style. That excites me more than a (expletive) belt.”

It seems we never really got the best Robert Whittaker in recent years.

Whittaker last competed at UFC 243 in October when he suffered a second-round knockout defeat to Israel Adesanya to lose his middleweight title. Many observers pointed to how Whittaker had an uncharacteristic performance at the time.

“The Reaper” was set to return in March this year against Jared Cannonier but pulled out as he later cited how he felt burned out and needed a mental break.

His 2017 and 2018 wars with Yoel Romero may have played a role as well. In fact, Whittaker claims he hasn’t even fought like himself since his first meeting with the Cuban when they clashed for the interim middleweight title.

“Like, probably Romero one,” Whittaker told Submission Radio when asked when he last fought like himself. “Romero two a little bit, but I was kind of getting a little bit stiff and pent up. And certainly not in the last fight. It is what it is.”

Whittaker Looking To Have Fun Against Till

The break seems to have done Whittaker well as he is happy and confident going into his July 25 headliner with Darren Till on Fight Island.

It’s even more so the case without the pressure of fighting for the title in front of an expectant home crowd this time.

“I’m just going to go in there to have fun with it, to be honest,” he said. “It’s one of those things where the pressure has been on so heavily and everything’s just been ramping up and ramping up and ramping up, I just want to take a step back, take all the skillsets I’ve been working on, and go in there and just be relaxed and let them out. I want to go out there and just have fun with it. I want to be creative with it, I just want to fight like me. I just want to enjoy the ride. I want to enjoy the experience.

“I’m looking forward for a change. To fight in a different country, no crowd, just a ranking fight. It’s going to be fresh. I feel the theme for this fight is fresh.”

How do you think Whittaker vs. Till will go?
