When Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz II was announced as the main event for UFC 200 in an immediate welterweight rematch of their UFC 196 fight, the MMA community was split in terms of their reaction to the news. Current UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos, however, has made his opinion very clear.
Dos Anjos, who was originally scheduled to defend his 155-pound title against 145-pound champion Conor McGregor at UFC 196, took to social media shortly after the announcement was made regarding the McGregor-Diaz II fight headlining the landmark UFC 200 event.
According to Dos Anjos, “The Notorious” one is a “coward” for taking the Diaz rematch instead of defending his title against any of the challengers available in the 145-pound division.
As noted, UFC also announced Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo in an interim featherweight title fight as one of the co-main events for their big UFC 200 show on July 9th.
“[I] feel bad for Aldo and Edgar,” wrote Dos Anjos. “After UFC 200, Conor [will] find another fight in a different division so he can keep his belt for [a little] longer.” Dos Anjos closed with a hashtag directed at McGregor that simply read, “#coward.”
