There are a host of entertaining options available for Conor McGregor after UFC 237 from Melbourne. One of those is McGregor vs. Ferguson, possibly for an interim title.

UFC President Dana White entertained the idea that former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion McGregor could end up Ferguson. It all comes down to what UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov decides to do for his 2019 plans.

Nurmagomedov is eligible to return to return as soon as April. This comes after getting his suspension from the NSAC following his actions in the UFC 229 brawl. However, Khabib has indicated he won’t compete until the one-year suspensions issued to his teammates for their roles in the brawl are complete in October.

Thus, while speaking with the media after UFC 234, the UFC President said that McGregor might end up facing Ferguson before Khabib does.

“Guys can’t sit out and wait that long when you have the title,” White said (H/T to MMAWeekly). “You can’t do it. So if that’s true and he’s going to do that, then we’d have to figure out something else and you start looking at whether it’s Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson or one of these other guys. When opportunity knocks, answer the door. We’ll see how this thing plays out.”

Indeed we will. In the meantime, McGregor has offered to fight Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz, both of which would be high-profile fights.

So even though he hasn’t won since 2016, the possibilities are still many for MMAs biggest name.

Dana White addresses a potential showdown that would see a clash of titans between Conor McGregor and Anderson Silva.

It appears that this is a mutual feeling as McGregor expressed interest in fighting Silva while promoting his fight at UFC 229.

The reason that he wants this fight with Silva is due to him seeing him as an MMA legend. Also, back in October, Silva made it known that he thinks he should fight McGregor next and that the UFC president should consider making the fight happen.

Well, now, White is going to think about booking that fight inside of the Octagon. A fight between the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion and former UFC middleweight title holder is one that could sell well.

“Yes, definitely possible,” White told reporters during a post-fight media scrum (H/T to Bloody Elbow). “We’re still working on that card. Tuesday, we’ll have a matchmaking meeting, and I’ll have to look at it and figure it out.”

It should be noted that Donald Cerrone has been pitching for a fight against McGregor for months and appears to be set for this Summer. However, anything and everything can change under the UFC banner.

Rene “The Challenger” Catalan’s beginnings at ONE Championship left a lot to be desired, but that is all in the past now.

What matters is the present, and Catalan is finally primed for the biggest match of his career.

He is set to take on former ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito on the undercard of ONE: REIGN OF VALOR on 8 March at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

Currently riding on a five-match winning run, Catalan now sets his sights on the crafty Naito, with a World Title shot in the horizon if he manages to defeat his Japanese opponent.

“I am looking to showcase my best form yet against Naito, a former World Champion,” said the former Asian Games gold medalist.

“Our focus in training is how to stop his takedown attempts. Naito will surely want this fight on the ground, it is my job to make sure he doesn’t get a submission when we are on the mat.”

After an illustrious wushu career with the Philippine National Team, which saw him bag medals in Doha, Qatar 13 years ago, Catalan finally ventured into mixed martial arts and he struggled heavily at first.

He started with a 0-2-1 record in The Home Of Martial Arts before finally adjusting and getting his momentum.

Now, the Iloilo City native gets his biggest challenge, as he takes on Naito, who remains to be one of the most dangerous athletes in the weight class.

Naito’s resume is made up of wins over former World Champions, including Team Lakay’s Joshua Pacio, Thailand’s Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, and Brazil’s Alex Silva.

As impressive as Naito’s resume is, Catalan is left unfazed as he plans to leave Myanmar a winner.

“Fans can expect a strong performance from me on fight night,” he said. “I am hungry to challenge for the ONE Strawweight World Title.”

When in Australia, do as Tai Tuivasa does.

Donald Cerrone will drink a beer out of just about anything. “Cowboy” was cage side in Melbourne for UFC 234 and opted to take part in a popular Australian ritual: the shoey.

Cerrone, 35, filled his own cowboy boot with a cool and refreshing beer. The UFC camera’s panned to the 47-fight veteran who proceeded to guzzle down the contents of his boot. Light-heavyweight Tyson Pedro was there to cheer him on.

It’s bad enough that Cerrone swigged beer from his sweaty boot, but what followed was even more stomach-churning. The King of the Shoey, Tai Tuivasa, riled up the live audience before dumping another beer in Cerrone’s boot. The UFC heavyweight, 25, then slurped up the beer and whatever else was steeping in Cerrone’s boot.

UFC commentator Jon Anik noted how Cerrone’s luggage was accidentally shipped to Austria instead of Australia. That means Cerrone may have been walking around in the same boots and the same socks for days.

UFC 234 took place in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, Feb. 9. The main event featured middleweight contenders Israel Adesanya and Anderson Silva. UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker was expected to defend his title against Kelvin Gastelum, but was forced to pull out at the final hour for an emergency surgery.

Author’s note: I may be teasing Cerrone and Tuivasa for this nasty, nasty, but I am not beyond chugging beer from a dirty boot. YOLO, as the millennials says.
