Donald Cerrone: ‘Robbie Lawler is a Name That Don’t Scare me’

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_-jWwxEV6k

If there’s one fighter you can count on to offer his services, it’s Donald Cerrone. After getting TKO’d by Rafael dos Anjos in a lightweight title bout, “Cowboy” moved up to the welterweight division. He went 4-0 at 170 pounds. Cerrone knocked out Matt Brown with a head kick in the third round in his last outing.

Cerrone recently chatted with FOX Sports. “Cowboy” talked about wanting to fight former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and Demian Maia. He expressed his frustration with fighters turning down fights:

“(Nick) Diaz turned Robbie down. (Expletive) Maia turned Robbie down. You know who didn’t turn (expletive) Robbie down? Me. I said (expletive) yeah, bring that (expletive) on. That name don’t scare me none. I love Robbie but (expletive) come on.”

“Cowboy” is set to battle Jorge Masvidal next Saturday night (Jan. 28) inside the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado. The bout will serve as the UFC on FOX card’s co-main event. If Cerrone has his way, it’ll be his first of six fights this year.

“Let’s do it. If I could get six fights in 2017, my coaches would be happy, I’ll be happy and we’ll get a title fight and defend that (expletive) three times, I’ll be good to go!”

Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller: Domestic Violence Trial Hears of Bizarre Sex and “D*ck Pics”

‘Mayhem‘ Miller has never had trouble living up to his nickname.

MMA’s wildman has a rap sheet as long as his fight record. Arrests for a stand off with a S.W.A.T team, the (nude) thrashing of a church, an assault on his sister and a drunken fight with two women highlight a serious propensity for getting into trouble.

Three years ago Miller, 36, was the subject of felony charges which were filed by an ex-girlfriend. The result of these charges are a domestic violence trial, which began proceedings on Friday.

According to prosecutors, ‘Mayhem’ stands accountable for an assault [on his previous partner] which stretch over.  two separate incidents. ‘Mayhem’ allegedly followed this up by sending threatening messages over social media. Mayhem’s lawyers contest this account as a fabrication resulting from an ex-partner who was unhappy with the result of a threesome Miller was involved in with her.

Miller is best known for his wacky character in the MMA world, but from today will have to contend with the world having explicit knowledge of his sex life following his lawyer’s statement in court:

“Their [Miller and ex-partner] sex life, you’re gonna hear about,” jurors were told. “They exchanged photos, you’re gonna see some pictures, they’re known in the colloquial as ‘dick pics.’ You’re gonna see pictures of Mr. Miller’s penis in this case. They have a provocative sex life, threesomes, other women, sex parties, rough sex, choking, peeing, golden showers, golden showers where someone gets urinated on. They have some of that, that night. Mr. Miller urinates on her in the shower, he pees on here … they do a little of that, they have some fun.”

‘Mayhem’ spoke out in March, alleging that he was the target of a campaign ran by Police and the media who were ‘attempting to turn him into the next War Machine’. The trial continues…

The MMA Vivisection – Bellator 170: Sonnen vs. Ortiz picks, odds, & analysis

Zane Simon is joined by Victor Rodriguez and Eddie Mercado to break down all the main card action on this weekend’s Bellator ‘tent pole’ event in Inglewood, California. Well be talking Tito Ortiz vs. Chael Sonnen down to Derek Campos vs. Derek Anderson.

The UFC may be AWOL this week, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a big fight card going down. Bellator is filling the Octagonal gap in the schedule with their own tent pole event as they prepare to put on one of their biggest cards of the year.

Bellator 170 will be headlined by a bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz and former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen. In the co-main event, former Strikeforce title contender Paul Daley takes on home-grown action-fighter Brennan Ward. Throw some Hisaki Kato vs. Ralek Gracie and Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Emmanuel Sanchez on there and you’ve got yourself a fight card.

Cowboy Calls Out Former Welterweight Champion For UFC 209

Former UFC lightweight title challenger and current No. 5-ranked welterweight Donald Cerrone has been on quite the tear since making the jump up to 170-pounds, having amassed a four-fight win streak against some hefty competition.

Cowboy most recently comes off of a crushing third round knockout victory over ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown in the co-main event of UFC 206, making quite the statement and propelling himself into the title contention conversation. In typical Cerrone-like fashion the JacksonWink product wanted to make a quick turnaround back into the Octagon, and will now take on Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 23 next week (Saturday, January 28, 2017).

Recently Cerrone spoke to FOX Sports to discuss the current state of the 170-pound division, and would love to compete on the same card as Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson in their welterweight title bout at UFC 209:

“I just care about keep on fighting. I know they’ve got the (Tyron) Woodley-(Stephen) Thompson fight coming in March. I wouldn’t mind getting a No. 1 contender fight in March also maybe on the same card and then fight the winner of those two,” Cerrone told FOX Sports.

“Just more about keep on fighting. I don’t want to sit and wait. I just like to stay busy.”

Currently above Cerrone in the welterweight rankings sit former champion Robbie Lawler and No. 3-ranked Demian Maia, who both interest Cowboy for a potential throw-down inside the Octagon for a title eliminator. The name that seemed to light a fire under Cerrone, however, was the Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist Maia who is content to wait for his shot at the 170-pound title after having racked up an impressive six-fight win streak.

Being known as a fighter who doesn’t like to take much time off, Maia’s decision to wait for the winner of Woodley and Thompson for his shot at the welterweight throne seems to have rubbed Cerrone the wrong way:

“Whoever, if I could fight in March. I know the title fight, they’re going to be fighting in March so we’ll have to get a No. 1 contender,” Cerrone said. “Hopefully, Demian Maia will (expletive) want to pull the trigger and not just keep waiting or Robbie (Lawler).

“Whoever’s above us. I don’t even care. I don’t (expletive) give a (expletive).”

As for a fight with Lawler, Cowboy had already agreed to fight ‘Ruthless’ at UFC 205 in New York, but the former champion decided to withdraw from the bout due to health concerns. Now that Lawler has had a bit more time to recover from his knockout loss to Woodley back in July, Cerrone says he’d gladly accept a bout with him again:

“(Nick) Diaz turned Robbie down. (Expletive) Maia turned Robbie down. You know who didn’t turn (expletive) Robbie down? Me,” Cerrone said.

“I said (expletive) yeah, bring that (expletive) on. That name don’t scare me none. I love Robbie but (expletive) come on.”

Cerrone says if he can secure the welterweight title in his next two fights, he’ll gladly defend the strap three times before year’s end, but we’ll have to see how things play out for the UFC veteran:

“Let’s do it,” Cerrone said. “If I could get six fights in 2017, my coaches would be happy, I’ll be happy and we’ll get a title fight and defend that (expletive) three times, I’ll be good to go!”

“If I could, I would,” Cerrone said without hesitation.”

Cerrone will meet Masvidal in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 23 from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado next weekend (Saturday, January 28, 2017).

Video: Diaz Brothers Exhibit Wealth by Smoking on ‘$2,000 Gold Joints’

Diaz brothers’ wealth appears to have done great things for their recreational activities, if the video below is anything to go by.

Nick and Nate Diaz are two of the most popular fighters in the UFC. That is not up for debate. Additionally, Stockton’s most famous siblings also enjoy marijuana. As we know, both of these things aren’t always good for each other, as the older brother of the two found out prior to landing a ban on competing. Nick has served his ban, yet we are still no closer to hearing of a return to the octagon. Tyron Woodley stated that the UFC had offered Nick a pop at his welterweight title, but Diaz bro sr was not interested. Similarly, Nate’s MMA activity has been non-existent following his “red panty night #2” with lightweight champion Conor McGregor last August.

Is money the only motivating factor for the Californian brothers’ return to the octagon? Maybe. A Snapchat video has been recently leaked which highlights both  men at California Herbal Remedies shop in Los Angeles. Both men are presented with ‘golden joints’ which have been manufactured to appear like UFC gloves. The price (per glove) is apparently circa $2000.

You can watch the video below:

While this is an exceptional display of anti-bum life money, fans would undoubtedly be happier to see both men adorn real gloves. Let us hope that both brothers make a return to action in 2017.

Bellator 170 video: Derek Anderson wants out of ‘lightweight division as soon as possible’

Bellator 170’s Derek Anderson spoke with Bloody Elbow about his upcoming opponent Derek Campos and divulges his plans to exit the lightweight division as champion.

(Editor’s note: The day after this scrum was conducted, Anderson missed weight by 4 pounds)

Rangy pressure fighter Derek Anderson is slated to face the heavy hitting Derek Campos at Bellator 170 this Saturday night. Before the duel of the Dereks, Anderson sat down with Bloody Elbow to talk fight preparation, title aspirations, and the desire to exit the lightweight division ASAP.

What is about your style that brings you such success in the Bellator promotion?

“My mentality in the cage. Outside of the cage too, I’m a cool and collected dude. Inside the cage, I’m more of a fighter than a lot of these guys. Just naturally, I’m there to punch, man, and I’m not worried about getting punched back. I’m there to fight and there’s not too much else going on in my head at the time, you know what I mean?”

What have you done to prepare for the bolos of Derek Campos?

“I just keep doing my thing all of the time. I train hard and try to leave no holes. When I punch, I’m not leaving an opening for them to hit me back, and that is one thing he does do.”

Campos has been known to take people down. Do you think that’s what he wil…

“Absolutely! I usually don’t listen to my opponent’s interviews but I did hear a little interview of his and it sounded like he wasn’t too confident on the feet. Like he wanted to wrestle me against the cage maybe. I don’t know. Maybe he’s confident on the feet but wants to play it safe or something. Either way, I’m prepared for that. I definitely think that’s what he’s going to be trying to do.”

Do you want to keep this one standing?

“I always try to keep it standing. I displayed a little grappling in the Saad Awad fight last time, and I think I need to start doing that a little more. I’d love to take him down and choke him out.”

What’s Next?

“I want the title, man. As soon as I can get it. If they want to make me wait for it, I’ll take some big names in the mean time, maybe Benson Henderson or something like that. Whatever they got for me, but I want to get out of this lightweight division as soon as possible, but I want the title first.”

Is the welterweight division where you belong?

“Yeah, I am a lightweight. I think I do belong down here, but I’m getting older and I think I’m going to move up. I don’t want to be cutting weight like that. I don’t care if everyone else is doing it or not. So, eventually, that’s in my future.”

Watch Derek Anderson take on Derek Campos this Saturday night at Bellator 170. The prelims will stream live on Bloody Elbow with the main card airing live on Spike TV at 9:00 P.M. EST/PST. Stay tuned for all of your Bellator 170 event coverage including interviews, results, highlights, and more!
